How to stop the installer and make a USB version of OSX Mountain Lion

Hi - I have had some serious problems with Mountain Lion and support from Apple has demanded reinstallation of OSX. With my rather slow BT Connect broadband sometimes the download takes 6-7 hours!!! Sometimes it stop as I understand BT Connect limits downloads. While I find a new ISP, can anyone advise me how to make an installable version of Mountain Lion from a USB stick . I have tried downloading the installer but it then immediately begins to install ISX ML and the disappears from my Downloads Directory. After 6 hours wait I am back to square one.
All and any help most gratefully received. My machine is a 13" 2012 Macbook Air with 128GB SSD and 4GB RAM.

It's easy. First, you have to download OS X Mountain Lion, so open the App Store > Purchases, and download OS X Mountain Lion. Then, when the download finishes, the installer will appear, so close it and it will stay in Applications folder. After reinstalling OS X, OS X deletes the installer, so it's important to do that.
Finally, you can use an application like Lion Diskmaker to create a Mountain Lion USB drive > http://liondiskmaker.com After creating the Mountain Lion USB drive, to start from the USB drive, hold the Option (Alt) key while your computer is starting and select your USB drive

Or, if you don't like fiddling with Xdefaults file, you can simply make urxvt transparent by executing it like "urxvt -tr -sh 20", where the number represents the transparency level. However, this is only pseudo transparency, but I like it better than resource-consuming compositing.

The Mavericks on the Air is probably machine specific since it came pre-installed, so it wouldn't work on your computer. See if your friend will let you access the App Store, where you can sign in using your Apple ID and download the installer. You can use this free program to copy the installer and update your computer.

I was updating to mountain lion when it stopped the installation and marked an error in the disk, now the computer does not work....what can i do?!

Depending on what OS the computer had on it, either boot into the Recovery Volume using command - R or by holding down the option key and selecting the Recovery Volume. If the computer was using pre-Lion OS, boot from the disks that came with the computer.
Run Disk Utility and see if you can repair the hard drive. Also try Repairing Permissions. If successful, try a normal restart.

How can I copy the date and time of a received email in Mountain Lion?

I recently installed the new Mountain Lion, however I am having a serious issue with the mail application. I use the mail application to download all of my emails and then I copy each one in to a Filemaker Database. I used to be able to copy the headers (from, to, subject, date, time) but now with the new mail in Mountain Lion it will not let me copy the date and time of the email. This is the most important part for me as I need to be able to track when the email was received once I have pasted it in to the Filemaker program. Anyone know if there us an option so that the date and time can be copied from the email?

I updated the new version of OSX Mountain Lion and now the app store won't open. I keep getting an error message from it. any advice?

I got the notification that i needed to update the software and when i did and it finished, the app store stopped opening. it keeps sending me an error message. does anyone know what to do? thanks

I'm currently use lion and tend to upgrade to mountain lion. is it will affect my files and apps after upgrade to it? sorry, i'm a new user of apple product.

You mustn't lose your apps, but you have to do a backup if the upgrade fails and you can't access to OS. Also, you can check the app compatibility, but if you use Lion, you mustn't have problems with them

Well as I pointed out in my post, "Sadly, my Text Edit documents are still all there, every single time I opened them and made a small change, there is another copy stretching all the way back to the day I installed Mountain Lion." so if you can explain to me how July 26 - Aug 16 is a week, I will concede that it is a good idea. Short of that, no I have been capable of making my own backups since I was 16 years old (16 years ago) I don't need my computer to endlessly do it for me in a way I am completely unable to shut off. That's what I have external hard drives, flash drives, a DVD burner, Drop Box, E-mail (as in emailing copies to myself) and icloud for. If I am doing something and I don't have access to a single one of those options, I don't know why I brought my computer with me in the first place. And I don't see how you can say it's an illusory gain in disk space, hundreds of copies of text documents, garageband files, Final Cut files, Motion Files and basically any program that makes files onto my comptuer that I can myself make incremental changes to, those all need to be stored somehow. Again, if you can explain to me how July 26 - Aug 16 is a week, I will agree with you that that is a good thing because IF it only saved for a week, it wouldn't be an issue. Sadly, no matter how many links you post, I still have text edit backups stretching from today back to July 26. Cannot access hotmail and other sites since upgraded to osx mountain lion

Since I upgraded air to OS X Mountain Lion, I stoped accessing several websites such as hotmail (I can open first page but not after I login), and same for facebook, some bank accounts and even some sites that do not require passwords. Any tips? Many thanks from Brasil!

Actually it's an upgrade not an update to go from Lion to Mountain Lion.
