How to stop update notification for one app (iMovie) that I do not want to update

How to stop update notification for one app (iMovie) that I do not want to update. I do not want iMovie 10 taking up nearly 3 gb on my hard disc. iMovie 9 is just fine and only takes up 1.5 gb. But I get notifications to update and don't know how to turn it off. I've gone into the Purchases tab of the App store and deleted it. I don't want to turn off Update notifications (which is irrelevant in any case because I see no option to do that in Notifications system preference pane). I just don't want to be bugged about iMovie updates. The only option I'm given is to postpone the next reminder until the next morning. -- Franklin

Interesting; never came across that - here is the window I get (just double clicked on a random doc in the trash):

I'm not sure why that link gets given out for pirated apps because it has nothing to do with pirated apps. That link is about a totally unrelated issue about MAS updates.
    Finding a pirated app -
All MAS apps have a MAS receipt in their app bundle. Check any app acquired from the MAS. Right click on the app's icon in your Apps folder and choose Show package contents. In the Contents folder is a _MASReceipt folder and in that folder is the coded MAS receipt. It has the Apple ID of the MAS account that bought/acquired the app from the MAS. It is that receipt that the MAS uses to alert you that an app has an update. There would not be a notice of an update with someone else's Apple ID showing in the MAS on your Mac, if there was not an app with a receipt from this person's account somewhere on your Mac.
    Download the free app FindAnyFile (FAF);
    http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
This app is easier to use and seems to be more powerful than Spotlight. Open FAF and in the box type _MASReceipt and press Find. It should come up with a list of every app on the Mac with a MAS receipt. Compare the apps with receipts in FAF's list with your purchased apps list in the Mac App Store. The odd app out should be the pirated app.
    Lots of folks are resistant to the idea that they have a pirated app, but they eventually find out that its true;

  • I have 3 apple devices and I use the same apple ID for all 3.  I would like to create a new I'd for one of my devices, but do not want to loose the apps on that device.  Anyone know how I can do this?

I have 3 apple devices and I use the same apple ID for all 3.  I would like to create a new I'd for one of my devices, but do not want to loose the apps on that device.  Anyone know how I can do this?

    Create a new ID:
    On the iPod go to
    - Settings>Messages>Send and receive and sign out your ID and sign into the other one. Make sure that only her ID email address is listed.
    - Settings>FaceTime sign out of your ID and sign into the other one. Make sure that under You can be reached at only the newID email address is listed
    - Settings>iCloud and sign out and sign in with the new one
    - Settings>iTunes and App Store and sign out your ID and sign in with the new one.
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Stop Push Notifications for Removed App?

I unstalled an app (Shadow Cities, specifically) and I am still getting push notifications for it. How can I make this stop?

Install the app.  Make sure that notifcations for the App are turned OFF.  Then uninstall it again.

  • How do I remove an update from the app window that I don't want to update or download?

The Mac app store keeps telling me I have a software update for a app I have deleted from my computer. How do I get rid of it.

If the application came with an uninstaller, you should use that.  If it didn't, usually dragging the app from the Applications folder to the trash is sufficient.
You could go to categories and find the errant app.  If it has a formal uninstaller you could download it again and then follow their uninstall procedure.   It will cost you nothing as you originally paid for it.
If not you can try a program like AppDelete.
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/31123
But a little light reading via typing in 'Deleting Apps' in the search box is often as good a way to pick up specialist advice.
Hope this goes some way to helping.

  • Can Apple update Snow Leopard so I can shut off Notifications in the App Store? I don't want to update to Mavericks.

That stupid Notification popped up for the 2nd time. I think it does it once a week, where it asks me if I want to update to Mavericks. It''s obnoxious and annoying because I screen record a lot and that can ruin my recordings. Not only that, but why is it trying to force me to update to Mavericks if my older Macbook runs Snow Leopard better? Boot times and shutdown times are better on Snow Leopard, and my fan doesn't run constantly on Snow Leopard like I remember it doing on Mavericks.

Move these two items to the Desktop, restart, and you shouldn't see the message again:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CommerceKit.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Noticeboard.app
    /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.noticeboard.plist

I will happily ask the hosts to move your post to this site where it may get the attention of the Gurus there, if you like.   But I think you have enough points and the level to report the post yourself and ask them to move it.   Let me know if I can help.

  • TS1702 I have been charged for an app. That I did not purchase.  Bingo blitz was a free app and now I have been charged for it.  How do I get my money back?

Hello I think I have put too much info in my question.  I do however need help getting my money back.  Thank you for your help.

There are a few apps with variations on 'Bingo Blitz' as their name, at least one of which is paid for and a couple of others, whilst free to download, then allow in-app purchases to be made within them (you can turn off in-app purchases on your iPad via Settings > General > Restrictions > In-App Purchases 'off').
If it's one of the free apps and you haven't made an in-app purchase within it then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

Gillesv7884073 please utilize the steps listed in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html to refresh the list of installed applications.

  • IF i update will I get conduit again that I do not want?

It seems conduit is included on your updates? Can you remove it from your install? Or send me an updated install with out it?

No Conduit (aka Effective Brand) related extension has EVER been included with any Firefox install or setup from www.mozilla.org. In fact Mozilla mass removed them from the addons.mozilla.org hosting site a few times in past and then for some reason reluctantly allowed them of sorts there later on.
A few old threads at the independent mozillaZine forums (before Sumo forums started) to show the headaches they were in earlier days especially.

If you did not intentionally install this toolbar yourself then it could have been installed by another application you installed or updated recently as some have bundled Firefox extensions like conduit ones over the years.
download dot com aka cnet for example is a known adware site that uses it own installer to bundle i crap to say least with otherwise clean programs.
Firefox 34 from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ is completely clean and only comes with well Firefox whether for Windows, Mac OSX or Linux.

  • I forgot my security question i need to reset them but i can not figure out how to i have 25 dollars on my account that i do not want to lose over this somebody please help me thank you

i forgot my security questions can anyone help me please reset them

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then the steps half-way down this page should let you reset them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 link above to add a rescue email address for potential future use
