After spending nearly 2 hours going up the AppleCare chain (and everyone was very concerned and courteous), it seems to be that the new iPhoto 1.0 for iPhone won't show photos on an Apple TV-fitted HDTV through Airplay. It WOULD, however show the videos (only). The senior tech I last spoke to couldn't get it to show up on his TV with a 4S, either.  There is no "airplay" icon anywhere, in the sharing space or elsewhere.  Only if one turns it on by double-tapping the homescreen and then going all the way to the left can you select AppleTV, allowing videos to play in iPhoto (pretty darn counter-intuitive...). By contrast, Apple's own photo app and every other airplay-enabled app will work with my TV (I have the current Gen2 Apple TV and the brand-new software update). The tech sent this info up the line, but it sounds like there will be a software update coming soon...(always beware of anything that is 1.0- I should have followed my own advice;)  Everything else about iPhoto seems to work fine.  A huge download, but the potential is certainly there. But only if one can use one's Apple-TVd TV with it.

i really need to use it for ipad and iphone

iPhoto for iOS is simply incompatible with the newest version of the operating system iOS 8. It has been replaced by the new version of "Photos.app".  If you have previously used iPhoto you can migrate your library to Photos. This is all Apple told us so far:

How i can recover iPhoto app i have deleted by mistake. i have got OS X "10.9.4" version.

First look, if it is still in your Trash. If yes, use "Put Back".
To download it from the App Store, launch the App Store and sign into the App Store (in the "Store" menu) with the AppleID you used when you set up your Mac and accepted iPhoto to your AppleID or when you purchased it.  Then open the "Purchases" tab of the App Store window and download iPhoto again.  You should see an "Install" button to the right of "IPhoto", if you already owned the current version of iPhoto. If your version was an earlier version and not bought from the AppStore, use the installer media you originally used to install iPhoto.

Need to transfer all my photos from iPhoto app in my computer to another one, which files do I need to copy?

You need to find your iPhoto Library and copy this package to your other computer.
By default the library will be called iPhoto Libary.photolibrary and located in your Pictures folder. YOu will recognize it by the typical "fan of pictures" icon. The color of the icon wil depend on the iPhoto version. What is your version of iPhoto?

how to send from IPhoto to GPS coordinates?

    Add places to your photos
If you have photos that don’t have GPS information, including print photos that were scanned to a disk, you can still map your photos in Places.

iPhoto matches recognizable location names you enter, such as “Seattle” or “Milan,” to a mapping database. When you add a location to a single photo or an entire Event, those photos are marked on the Places map.
Or, if you have latitude and longitude information for the place where you shot your photos, you can use that information to add the location.
Important:  You must be connected to the Internet for the Places feature to show photo locations on the map.

But you can add locations to selected photos without adding locations to them all. To do so, select the photos you want, move your pointer over them, and then click the Info button. Skip to step 3.
Click the Info button to open the Information pane.
Select “Assign a Place,” and then type the latitude and longitude, separated by a comma. For example, you can type “24, -110” or, if you prefer, you can use a longer format, such as “24.15988731, -110.50838234.”It’s important to always put the latitude first.
Look at the map to confirm the location, and then do one of the following:
If the location is correct, continue to step 5.
If the location is incorrect, retype the latitude and longitude, or drag the pin to a more exact location on the map.You can use the plus and minus buttons to zoom in and out, and drag the map to center it on a better spot.Note:  You can move marker pins only in the small map that appears below Places in the Information pane. You can’t drag marker pins on the full-size Places map.
If you want, you can view the location marked on the full Places map by clicking the arrow next to the location name.

  • All of a sudden streaming from any OS/iOS...

All of a sudden streaming from any OS/iOS through airport express to speakers is breaking up / stuttering. WIFI signal fine. Not sure what caused the difference?? Suggestions to try?

Sounds as though it may be an interference problem from nearby wifi networks.  Try changing your operating channel.  With Apple products such as Airport Express you can simply turn off the AC feed for about 30 seconds and when you plug it back in, it will search for a new open channel, or you can change the channel manually through the Airport utility application.

  • How 2 get edited photo from iphoto app back into iPhoto?

I have the new iPhoto app.
I can't seem to get my edit photos back into iPhoto on my imac.
I thought save to iTunes would do it but it doesn't seem to do anything.
Sure would like to just go back to my mac and find the photo updated.
I have the photo stream turned off and just sync with a cable.
    Problem 2
The photos and albums seem to be in random order.  This makes it almost impossible to find the photo I want to edit.
    Can anybody please help?

<If you are using the cable: Connect your iPad > open iPhoto > select your iPad on the left under devices > Import <button top right of iPhoto (blue button).

    <Do not import through iTunes.
Sorry - that was no help.
If I edit a photo in e iPhoto app then connect and bring up iPhoto on my mac the iPad device has no photos to import.
I have imported hundreds of photos from iPhones and iPads - I know how to import.
Even if there was a photo laying there to import - that is not what I want because...
Imagine if I had 100 photos then edited all 100 photos on my iPad.
Then if I imported them I would now have 200 photos in iPhoto on my mac.
I want the edited photo to update the original just as tho I edited it in iPhoto on my mac.
So I could "Revert to Original" if I needed to but probably never would.
So the question is when you share to iTunes where does it go?
Also the new album it creates "Edited" - What's the story on that?

  • How can I subscribe to a Shared Photo Stream from iPhoto 9.4 on OSX 10.7.5 ?

I just updated to iPhoto 9.4 on both my (just updated) OSX 10.8.2 MacBook Pro and my OSX 10.7.5 Mac mini.
For some mysterious reason Apple specifies that I can not subscribe to the new "Shared Photo Streams" from my OSX 10.7.5 Mac mini.
    How could that be ?
How can I get around this ?
How can it be that Apple claims that 'Shared Photo Streams' can be shared to all my other devices, but it turns out that my major photo-database can't, even though it has a brand new version of last year's OSX running... ???!!!
This can't be a software issue...
because if that were the case Apple would be deliberately cutting off users of last year's operating system... (...I even think there is a law prohibiting that...)
so... can anyone tell me what the exact piece of hardware is that I am missing ?
or has anyone found a solution for this yet ?
    Thanks !

The only hardware that's preventing me from upgrading to 10.8 "Mountain Lion" would be the fact that a Mid-2007 Mac mini doesn't have a separate graphics card...
...as all other hardware-components ar similar to the iMac Mid 2007... :
    - at least 2GB of PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM RAM
    - a 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo "Merom" processor
    - a WiFi-N compatible AirPort-card (I've upgraded the one in my Mac mini to an Atheros AR-9280...)
    - OSX 10.6.8 or later installed (I have OSX 10.7.5)
    - iPhoto 9.4
...so the only spec I not meeting hardware-wise is the fact that my Mac mini has a GMA950 shared graphics card...
but surely... that can not be the reason I can't subscribe to a Photo Stream...
why would that have anything to do with eachother ???!!!
[ I've even seen claims of tricked OSX 10.8 installers for the Mid-2007 Mac mini, so if that's my only option... ]

  • How do I exclude photos from iPhoto for iOS

I have iPhoto for iOS but unfortunately I can't find a way to exclude the photos I don't want anymore. Do you know how do I do it?

Do you mean, you want to delete certain photos from your iPhoto Library on your IOS device?
Photos that have been synced to iPhoto need to be removed on the device you are syncing from, then sync again. Photos that you imported from mail or the camera roll can be deleted using the menu:
See this manual page: Delete photos and this thread:
Re: How can I delete photos in iPhoto on my iPad2?
If you edited a photo you need to revert the edits, before you can remove it. Otherwise it will stay in the "Edited" album.

  • How to upload from iphoto to icloud in title order using photo share (not photo stream)?

I can get the albums within iphoto (V9.6) into title order, however when they are uploaded to icloud (photo share, not photo stream) they lose that order. Can the photo shared images on the icloud web link be uploaded/or organised into the order that I have painstakingly created?

December 2014 Case Resolved by midnorthcoast
I found Old Toad's remedy presented by Tedious Tom here Keeping desired order of photos when sharing on iCloud
After labelling (titling) each of the 300 or so images carefully in numerical order I wanted to be sure that that's how they would be viewed once uploaded from iPhoto to Photo Share (not Photo Stream).  Note that I didn't want the ensuing iCloud weblink to be automatically emailed to others. I wanted to email the link personally. I find the automatic invitation's presentation confusing in regard to having to register to view the images or simply clicking the less obvious link. Plus I wanted the invitation to be more personal.
    Here's how I did it:
Transferred images from Finder to their own album within iPhoto
With the album open, made sure images were in title order,  View/Sort Photos/By Title
    Selected all images
Followed Old Toad's advice (except I changed from 1 minute to 1 second),  Photos/Batch Change/Set Date/Add 1 second between each photo
    Shared with iCloud,  Share/iCloud
Dialogue box comes up, Clicked on New photo stream
Another dialogue box,  filled in one of my email addresses (not my iCloud identity), unticked Subscribers Can Post, ticked Public Website, clicked Share
Opened iCloud within iPhoto and waited until finished uploading
Highlighted the album, clicked Info, copied the weblink shown under Public Website and pasted into personal email invitations

  • Why do videos show up in photos and why can't i export them from iPhoto for iOS

Somehow, I just don't get it:
If I take a picture on my iPhone 5s, it is saved to 'Pictues' ... sound reasonable.
If I take a video on the same device, it is saved to 'Pictures' ... that's where it gets messy.
If I receive a video on an app like e.g. WhatsApp ... it also get's stored in ... guess what ... 'Pictures'!
Now that's a little bit confusing.
Generally I would like to keep these different types of media (still pictures vs. moving images) in separate spaces, but it seems like that is not possible out of the box, because if go ahead and tab on that share-button in iOS 7 i get prompted to share the videos to various installed apps like e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, Twitter - you name it.
It seems like there is no way to export videos from 'Pictures' to 'Videos', even if you use iPhoto for iOS in the gap.
The only ways (that I found) to get what I want are way to circumstantial:
Either use iPhoto for the Mac to import videos from the iCloud Photostream to the Mac and from there via "Show in Finder" re-import to iTunes' 'Videos'
or use iExplorer (a third party application for the Mac) and export the videos from the iPhone to a temp-folder and from there re-import with iTunes to 'Videos'.
Why isn't there just a simple share-sheet or export label called 'Export to Videos'.
    Why doesn't it just work?
Am I missing out on something?
Is there an easier way to complete this relatively simple task?
Hints and support are very much appreciated!
    Kind regards,
    Chris

Hi. My camera is a Canon 600D. And yes my videos are stored in the Aperture library and they are not referenced. Even then I tried to select all the videos in Aperture and clicked 'consolidate masters' and there was a messge that said all 'none of the files are referenced',... so they didn't need consolidating.
I also tried preferences> export> external video editor > choose > iMovie. And then right click on the video to edit with imovie. Even then the video didn't show up in iMovie. It seems like the only option for me is to import the videos directly to iMovie which means there will be two versions of the same file stored in my computer eating up space.
    APPLE. What are you doing?

  • Photos app vs. iPhoto App IOS

On my iPhone and iPad/iPad mini, I have both "Photos" app (a kind of pink/orange starburst icon) and iPhoto for IOS.  I have two questions a search didn't turn up answers for:
    1)  Do I need both these apps?  They both display my photos in similar ways (photos/albums).  I think Photos came with my devices and I think I downloaded iPhoto from the App Store.
    2)  Are they drawing on the same database of photos (presumably my Mac iPhotos and PhotoStream in iCloud) meaning the photos are not taking up doublespace?
I'd like a little space back on my devices and deleting one of these apps (if they aren't "sharing" photos) is a good way I think.  I use Instagram to edit IOS photots - not either of these apps.
    Thanks in advance!
    YvonneinSonoma

    The short answer:
Yes, you need both apps - or may want to have both.
And both are showing you the same photos, but in different ways, and they are just offering differnet views, the photos will not be duplicated.
    See the iPhoto Help:  http://help.apple.com/iphoto/iphone/2.0/?handbuch#blnka7d353af
All of the photos and video clips in the Photos app on your device automatically appear in iPhoto. You can also import photos into iPhoto from other devices and computers, other apps on the same device, or a digital camera (if you're using iPad)
iPhoto is showing you all photos stored on your iPhone in one place, and you can organize and edit the photos in a more elaborate way than with the Photos app by adding tags and brushing in effects. You can craete Journals andphoto books, and publish slideshows, and share photos to iTunes.
The Photos.app mamages the Camera Roll and is the central sharing place between differnet apps on your iPhone. Also, the Photos.app is the only app that can delete from the Camera roll.
You cannot delete the Photos.app  - it comes with with the system software on your iPhoto. You could delete iPhoto, but the app does not need much space. Transfer your photos to your computer and delete the photos that you do not like.
