How to suppress Missing and Zero rows in OBIEE SA for Essbase Cube as Sour

Hi All,
Currently we have Essbase(ASO) cubes as source for OBIEE.How to suppress #Misssing and Zero rows in OBIEE.
For example, Dim1 having 4 members and Dim2 having 10 members then it shows 4*10= 40 combinations in Results.
If we considered Metrics also along with attributes, OBIEE will suppress “No Data” values and shows attributes having Data.
In Essbase-Excel Combination, Metrics will automatically comes with attributes so there we have option to suppress “No Data” rows under "Essbase Options".
In our current requirement,Users are selecting only Metadata.Is there any work around where we can suppress even if the measures or metrics are not selected

As i am new to OBIEE,If possible could you please tell me procedure in brief manner,How to create implicit fact column.Currently we have 10 dimensions.
So,Do I need to create individual implicit fact column for each dimension or one column is enough.

Elements 10 is too old for this new camera. It can't be updated to the ACR 8.5 version, you would need PSE12 or 13.

How to Suppress Header and footer.

Hi,
I have master-Detail report. Report prints One master and all detail records on a page. If detail records are more than to fit on one page, report prints master gaian on next page followed by detail records. For a master record If there are no detail records, I supress the master record also using format trigger.
My problem is how to suppress the Header & Footer information that has to be printed on each page otherwise. When I suppress printing of master, All I get is Page header and footer. This happens only to the master records that fall in between. The pages related to last master records are not printed.
How can I suppress printing of header and footer on blank pages.

As santa has suggested, I am already suppressing the printing of master record and its column headings based on the count of number of deatil records. If count of detail records = 0, I am suppressing master record.
The problem is with Report header (TITLE etc.) and footer. I have to print TITLE and FOOTER on each an very page. So I have put these into Margins. The Count of master records at the report level, can be used to suppress the master records column headings and also TITLE and FOOTER. So if there is no master records, report does not print anything and that is fine.
Problem comes when there are some master records with "No" detail records. Something like:

----D2
----Dn
-M2
----D1
----D2
----Dn
M3
M4
M5
----D1
----D2
----Dn
M6
M7
M8
My report now produces pages for M1, M2 and blank data area (with Title and Footer) for M3, M4 and the M5. It suppresses pages for M6, M7, M8 etc. So if a master record has no detail records, but happens to be the last records that suppresses the TITLE and footer also.
Any Ideas how to suppress TITLE/FOOTER for M3 & M4.

How to get Inserted and Deleted Rows in ALV

I have looked at the BC_EDIT* examples but I still can't figure out how to determine which rows were Inserted and Deleted from the ALV list. Can someone please provide me the code to do this?

Hi sandy,
i dont think you will have issue in inserting a row in ALV because whenever the user done some actions say for eg clicking the pushbutton at the toolbar you could insert the a new row into the ALV.for creating pushbutton you need to use the events TOOLBAR,USER_COMMAND.
deleting a row may also follow the above procedure.

How to join Dimensions and Fact Tables in OBIEE

Hi All,
I need to create report which need to get the information from two fact tables and 7 dimensions. The granularity is not same in both the fact tables. One fact table is having common keys between all the dimension tables and second fact table have only two dimension keys but with different names. My requirement is to create the report by taking the measures from both the fact tables.
I have created joins between the second fact table and two dimension tables in physical and BMM layer and also set the highest level for all other dimension tables in the LTS of second fact table. when am creating report by taking the measures from both the fact tables, data is not getting for the measure which taken from the second fact table. Please advice me how to get the data for the measure which taken from the second fact table.

You have to use the level-base measure capabilities.

For all measures of the second fact table with the lowest grain (with two dimension keys), set for all dimension where you don't have any key the logical level to the "All" or "Total".
And UNSET the highest level of the LTS for the second fact table.

I think LLD is for low level design.
In any Essbase cube building, We didn't take much pressure for the design document.
Just we will document a report matrix.
Based on this we will identify entities(dimensions) and attributes(members).
From this we will analyze the data availability and the level of input into essbase.
This is enough to get into Application manager and we will build the prototype cube and allow the business users to drill into the cube.
From here we will do the changes to the design as well as to the cube to reflect the business users review comments.
Once cube is accepted we will deliver the final version of the design document with all the needed databse screen shots and batch scripts to automate the cubebuild.

How to use the dynamical or static variable for ESSBASE cube name?

Hi Experts,
When I import ESSBASE Cube into physical layer, the cube name from ESSBASE is created automatically, such as H_Sales.
I want to use the the static or dynamical variable for replacing the external name. So I try to create the static variable in RPD,such as cubeName, and use the following code
'VALUEOF(cubeName)' into the textbox of external name.
However, when I view the report in answer, it will generate the error message: Database VALUEOF(cubeName) does not exist.
Is it possible to implement this functionality?

How can I select and delete rows based on the value in one column?

I searched through the discussion board, and found a thread on deleting blank rows, but not sure how to modify it to work with my issue.
I have put together a rather complicated spreadsheet for designing control systems, it calculates parts needed based on check boxes selected in a second spreadsheet.
Since not all systems require all parts there are many rows that have a 0 quantity value, I would like to select these rows and delete them once I have gone through the design phase (checking off required features on a separate sheet).
I like the way the other thread I found will gather all the blank rows at the bottom without changing the order of the rows with data in them.
I don't understand exactly how the formula in the other thread works well enough to modify it to look for a certain column.
I hope I made myself clear enough here, to recap, I would like to sort the rows based on a zero value in one (quantity) column, move them (the zero quantity rows) to the bottom of the sheet, and then delete the rows with a zero quantity (I can delete them manually, but would like to automate the sorting part).

I apologize but, as far as I know, Numbers wasn't designed by Ian Flemming.
There is no "this column will be auto-destructing after two minutes"
You will have to use your fingers to delete it.

You could also do through row/column formatting.

How to suppress line #s fr. rows in SPOOL output file when I use GET

I'm having difficulty suppressing line #s which show up in my SPOOL output. That is, when I run the following
SPOOL MySpoolOutputFile.txt
GET SpoolHeader.txt LIST
where MySpoolOutputFile is my spool output destination and SpoolHeader is what I'm getting and displaying in the console.
I get a result like the following:
1 This is my first row
2 This is my second row
3 This is my third row
4 This is my fourth row
5 This is my fifth row
I have my environmental variables set to the following:
SET FEEDBACK OFF
SET TRIMSPOOL ON
SET LINESIZE 100
SET SQLNUMBER OFF

I'd like to suppress the line numbers but can't find any other SQL*PLUS environment variable that seems to let me do this....
