How to swap Fn - Ctrl key

 Hi,
I just got the A600 desktop and i want to swap Fn & Ctrl key to eachother. i want the Ctrl key at the last.
I checked many forums n tried a software that does key remapping, but it doesn't work. it doesn't recognize the Fn key.
Can anyone tell me the permenant solution to have the Ctrl key on the place of Fn key?
Ronak

Look at BIOS setup.

    Hi Svet,
    I've flashed my laptop with your files, powered down my laptop, loaded the BIOS defaults and the swap works. Thanks!
    However, my laptop is experiencing a side effect.
    When I plug in a USB external harddisk, I hear a sound prompt and the "Safely Remove Hardware" indicates an exteral drive but thats it. The Autorun dialog doesn't show up and the disk is not visible under "My Computer". I've tried different external harddisks and a different USB port on the laptop but it still doesnt work. A smaller USB thumbdrive works however (as does my USB mouse). Is there an issue with the electrical output of the USB ports i.e. its being reduced to a point where larger devices cannot be recognized?
    Any advice?

    Can the BIOS detect the drive? Could be OS related.
    Do you have some sort of USB adaptor used?
    Check it in "disk management" from control panel, see if its listed there.
    Also does they are recognized when you put them in another machine?

  • OpenScript : How to simulate ctrl key down?

    Hi,
    How do I simulate ctrl key down action in OpenScript?
    Couldnt get much info from oracle.oats.scripting.modules.functionalTest.api.FunctionalTestService.typeKeys() documentation about the keys value to be used.
    Or is there any better way?
    Thanks,
    Deepak

    I wanted to select multiple elements so I wrote the code like below,
    Robot robot = new Robot();
    robot.delay(1000);
    robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_C);
    web.element(xpath).click();
    web.element(xpath1).click();
    web.element(xpath2).click();
    robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_C);
    Didnt work, so I tried keypress before each element click, but still that also didnt help.
    Same case with
    web.element("/web:window[@index='0']/web:document[@index='0']")
    .keyPress("<CTRL-SHIFT-F5>")
    My requirement is, I need to click multiple elements with Control key down.
    Please suggest me a solution.

  • [BIOS Bug] Enabling Fn/Ctrl swap breaks [Ctrl]-[Alt]-[Up]

    Hello all!
    I'm very used to the standard keyboard layout, where the ctrl key is on the very left. Therefore I enabled the Swap Fn/Ctrl key option in the BIOS of my Lenovo Edge 11 AMD (2545A12, Bios 1.08).
    Unfortunately this has the effect, that a very specific key combination is no longer working: Ctrl+Alt+Up
    Ctrl-Alt-Down/Left/Right keep working as ususal. The problem does not happen with disabled key swap option.
    This clearly seems to be a bug to me. Any hints on how to receive a fix?
    Thanks & Regards
    - Ben

    I doubt this is a software/Linux problem. Same effect here under Fedora 15/Gnome: There this key combination is the essential as the desktop is only vertically oriented.
    Can anybody try to assign this key combination in Windows, enable Fn/Ctrl swap and report if he shares the problem there?

  • How can I swap the Fn and Ctrl keys on ideacentre b550 touch?

    How can I swap the Fn and Ctrl keys on ideacentre b550 touch?

    The BIOS feature that you request already exists.
    1.  reboot the computer
    2.  press F1 to enter BIOS setup
    3.  config -> keyboard/mouse -> Fn and Ctrl Key swap

  • Is there a way to swap the Fn key and left Ctrl key

    Is there a way to swap the functions of Fn key and left Ctrl key on the keyboard. I'm used to other keyboards where the keys are switched and I keep pressing Fn when I want to press Ctrl.  I figure I'll get used to it eventually, but when I use the laptop in a docking station with a regular keyboard the control key is in one spot and undocked with the Lenovo keyboard the function key is there instead, which makes it hard to get used to.
    If not is there a way to disable the Fn + Space bar function that changes the screen resolution. The programs I use use control + space heavily and my screen resolution keeps changing when I don't want it to.
    It's a small thing I know, but very maddening.

    Thanks, I took the survey. It's interesting the questions on there were asking about location of keys like page up and page down. I find the position of those keys are not that important to me because I don't use them that much and don't seem to mind looking at the keyboard to find them. Also they are almost always in different spots depending on whether you are on a desktop or laptop keyboard so I guess I'm used to unconsciously switching depending on which keyboard I'm on.
    But the left control key is one of the most heavily used, at least by developers like me (control+c to copy, control+v to paste, and control+space for code assist, shift + control + f to format code, shift + control + r to find resources, etc...). I have to hit that Ctrl button 1000 times a day. And the key is in the bottom far left corner on every keyboard (desk top and laptop) I've ever seen until now. Having to remember to look down at the keyboard to find the key is proving difficult and I think is actually hurting my productivity. Especially control+space (when you are expecting a popup to automatically complete the line of code you're working on and instead the screen blinks, resizes and your whole editor loses focus it really breaks your flow of thought, so thanks a million for helping me turn off the silly screen zoom feature).
    Hopefully I'll get used to it like with the other keys like page up and page down although I've had the laptop for two weeks and it's proving difficult. If I had know that Thinkpads have this layout and how maddening it would be to get used to it I probably wouldn't have bought it, even though everything else about it is great. It's amazing how such a small thing can become such an irritant.
    Well thanks again, and if anybody from Lenovo engineering is reading this post, my vote is for some bios setting on the T61P that swaps the functions of Fn and Left control key. It would save me a lot of grief anyway.

  • Newbie: swap fn and ctrl keys on T60

    I bought a used T60.  I am used to using HP Pavilions where the Fn and Ctrl keys are in the opposite positions as on the T60, and I am having trouble retriaining my fingers.
    So i looked for info about how to swap them.  I understand KeyTweak doesn't work on the Fn key, and then I ran across a message about getting to the BIOS.
    I have never messed with BIOS stuff before, but I did interrupt booting, get to it, but do not see swapping the Fn and Ctrl keys listed among the keyboard options.  So I am guessing this feature is maybe in a newer verison of the BIOS.
    I don't want to trash my laptop, but I'd like to swap the functioning of these keys - is there an idiotproof way?
    Also, I used the onetouch Pavilion keys a lot to invoke Firefox or thunderbird.  Is there a way to make a key on the T60 keyboard do that?  There are several keys I never use for anything, like PgUp, etc.
    Thanks.

    Not exactly true. You can't swap the keys with ORIGINAL BIOS - there are modded versions available that will let you do it.

  • I need an option to remap reprogram or swap the ctrl and function keys on my laptop

    Open letter to Lenovo
    How many Lenovo laptop users does it take to get a change or option added to remap, reassign, reprogram or swap the two keys on the lower left of the keybards with each other?
    The number one question I'm asked (and the first question I asked of a lenovo laptop user) was how long did it take to get used to the function key being in the wrong place on the keyboard?  I did a search on the web and found a number of threads that discussed and talked about if it were possible to switch those two keys on the keyboard such as this: http://www.ashbaughonline.com/2006/08/12/thinkpad-fn-ctrl-key/   The point being is there are many lenovo laptop users that would love to have the option at least of swapping the function and ctrl key location on the keyboard and we wouldn't even complain that the key names were wrong afterwards if it were made available in some BIOS or other configuration setting.
    Lenovo, how many users would need to ask for this option to make it happen?
    Please add me to those who would like to see this happen and to anyone else please reply and chime in.

    I have the same problem, and I really can't understand why do they do such things! I even can't get a normal answer from Lenovo about it. I like Thinkpads, they are great designed & they have a lot of unique features, most of them could be customized, exept this! Why??? I can't belive that it's so hard to remap 2 buttons using BIOS! The problem is that the FN key doesn't generate a scan code, which could be recognized by the software, i tried numerous programs to remap the FN button, but it's useless. You can do it only in 2 ways: 1. mechanical - to swap them fisically, but it's hard, dangerous & the warranty will be lost of course. 2. BIOS remapping which can be done only by Lenovo or maybe by somobody, who can hack the BIOS. So, Dear Lenovo Experts PLEASE do this feature for us, we REALLY neeed it! We need it much more than "keyboard customizer", more than "easy eject", more than "media center" becouse we use the left CTRL button every minute, working on your notebook!

  • GT70 2PE FN and CTRL keys swapped!

    Hey guys,
    So this is a very weird problem: recently after a reboot, my FN and Left CTRL keys got swapped.
    I understand this happens at BIOS/EC level, but haven't touched/flashed those in a while. I've been using a custom BIOS provided by Svet for about 4 months, and never had any issues with it or keyboard problems such as this one.
    Anybody know what's happeneing here? How do I fix this? Thanks in advance

    huh
    can you check if they are swapped in windows only or also in bios setup or outside windows?
    and have you done EC reset? https://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/how-to-reset-the-ec-embedded-controller
    Hey Svet, thx for fast reply,
    Currently I have a dual-boot configuration (Windows 8.1/Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, both 64-bit) and I can confirm it also happens in Ubuntu, so it must not be Windows related.
    Also I noticed one thing, when I went to BIOS to check current EC version all I found was something like this:
    EC Version: Sve???? Ver?.??
    EC Build: <a large string of numbers>
    if you want I can post a photo of this. So should I still reset the EC like you said?
