How to Swing in Java?

Hi folks,
I'm trying to write very basic GUI, but have just realized that I do not have swing library. When tried to download it from web various sources were saying that it has been discontinued (Life of Product Ended). Could anyone tell from were am I suppose to download swing library and whats going on with this library anyway?

How to load a java card applet into a java card

Dear All,
I am a novice to java card technology..
I have done some search on how to load a java card applet into a smart card but haven't found a satisfactory answer. I have read about installer.jar and scriptgen tool but I want to load the applet from a java program and not from command line. It would be of great help if somebody can help me out.
If somebody can share a sample program which load a javacard applet(.CAP file) into a smart card, I will be very thankful.
I am able to find some client applications which help us send APDU commands and recieve response APDU's to interact with an applet loaded on to the smart card but not application which actually load the applet.
I have heard of OCF and GP.. some say that OCF technology is outdated and no longer in use.. can somebosy throw some light on this too..

thanks for the quick response.. i checked out GPShell as suggested, it looked like a tool by which one can load an applet on to card and send some sample apdu commands... but I want to load the applet from the code.
My application should look something like this.. it will be a swing applicaton where I have a drop down with a list of readers, I select the one desired and then click on "LOAD" after inserting a blank java card, at this point my applet which is stored in my DB should get loaded on to the java card. The next step should be to personalize it where I enter the values for the static variables of my applet and click "PERSONALIZE", at this point all these values should be embedded into APDU commands and sent to the java card for processing.
For achieving this I am yet to find a comprehensive sample or documentation on the net.
Please help...

How to make a Java program that recognises a function of two variables to assign values to that?
First I will give an example and then do the question.
Ex1.
We have any function, eg.y = x ^ 2 + 1 (read 'y' equals 'x' high to the square), a function of the second degree.
To build the graph of this function attach values to 'x' to find the values of 'y'
And thus mount the pair ordered (x, y) which represents a point on the Cartesian plane.
Assigning values to 'x' 'we can build up a table that gives us the pairs ordered:
We can use any numbers, but arfer interval [-3.3]
X | y = x ^ 2 + 1
-3 | Y = (-3) ^ 2 +1 = 10
-2 | Y = (-2) ^ 2 +1 = 5
-1 | Y = (-1) ^ 2 +1 = 2
0 | y = (0) ^ 2 +1 = 1
1 | y = (1) ^ 2 +1 = 2
2 | y = (2) ^ 2 +1 = 5
3 | y = (3) ^ 2 +1 = 10
We then ordered the pairs:
(-3.10), (-2.5); (-1.2), (0,1), (1,2), (2,5), (3,10)
Tabem that can be represented by a table:

We see that the program receives above a value for 'x' and replaces the function contained in the program, y = x + 1, and so is the value of the variable 'y'.

The entry is a number and that number is assigned aa ja existing function in the (y = x + 1).
The question is: would it be possible to come to a function?
Ex: the program ask: DIGITE THE FUNCTION?
The USUARIO DIGITARIA A FUNCTION ANY, TYPE: y = x ^ 2 +1
The program would recognize the function and give numerical values to that function as Ex1, at the beginning of this text.
And then to find the values of the x and y launch a table.
It would be possible that?
By invez of entering with a number so that the program sustitua a function ja existing as Ex2, seen above, entering with a function quaquer (type: y = x ^ 2 +1) for the program atribuisse values to that function and then create a table of values as Ex1.
I hope it has been easier to understand my doubts now.

How to use original java VM in microsoft windows applications

I have seen few applications like of Oracles, They use Java Beans and classes in the windows applications.
Can any one of you tell me how can i use java classes in Windows applications(through oroginal java VM only, not by microsoft Java VM).

actually i think they use the same way i use in my applications:
i have Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 by which i write a windows program interface (like oracle) then create from inside it, in reflection to a button event for example, a procedure which runs "javaw.exe -cp ... MyJavaProgram.class" this java program executes in its own work space and i can terminate it from within my C++ program, but i can't get data from within it directly, i use the DBMS as a way to get data from within it.
but i'm not tried for example to run java bean directly in my VC++ program, emaple, not run swing component inside my VC++ main window Created by Visual C++
that is what i'm doing. i hope there is a better way to do so because i don't like it that way i do.

How make Swing app Rotated 90 Deg? i.e. On its side

I want to make my entire swing app (including buttons, JTextArea, etc) rotated 90 deg to the right. I know this sounds weird, but I want to do it for a PDA. I can use swing on a PDA (check on google for swing personal java) and I want to be able to have the screen the long width.
Does anyone know how I can do this?

I can suggest some solution but it has not been proved to work. So just read it and make your own component carefully.
First, subclass the Swing-widget to be rotated and name it RButton or whatever.
Then, draw the content on a new BufferedImage instance and use AffineTransform to draw this BufferedImage onto the original Graphics context. Here is the example code.public class RButton extends javax.swing.JButton {

}And this suggestion will just rotate the drawn content. You have to resize and rearrange those Rxxx components you've created to fit with the rotated graphics.

AWT vs SWING vs JAVA 2D vs JFC

Hi,
can you please describe or show me the path to find the difference
among 4. (mentioned in subject line)
The basic difference i know, what i want is how to decide when to use
what?
In my view, awt is used no where these days.
swing and Java 2D (what is this?) are used mostly but which to choose
for my application, how to decide? and What is JFC all about?
sometimes it becomes very confusing.
Can anyone throw some light on these terms.

How to Generate a Java file for a JSP Page

I am using weblogic11 .
I am working on a JSP page which nearly consists of 4000 lines of code.
I need to debug the file , but weblogic server is not generating the java file for the JSP pages .
Please let me know how can i genertae Java file for the jsp pages ??

JSPs are compiled into servlets automatically and those classes are stored in WEB-INF/classes folder. Servlet engine handles servlets.

get a decompiler and run your class file through it--I'll assume you want the source code back and that you are not trying to recover a missing class file by attempting to use the class file that is missing--if it's missing, then I've not a clue on how to get it back by using what is already missing.
BTW: many of your compilers have source control--if it does, just restore your missing file.

Im not too sure about the Java project. But single normal java files with public static void maain(String [] args) are very simple to execute.
1. Write the java code somewhere lets call this class A.
2. Make a dummy page flow.
3. In the begin action of this pageFlow, call the main method of the A class directly using A.main(null) since main is a static method. your code will work fine.
4. If you have to pass a String[] as parameters. Before calling main, create this String[] and then pass it.
In this way you can make a jsp and take the input from the user also.

Hi Smita,
you just need to create an object of that class,thats it. Then you will be able to execute each and every method.
e.g.
you have developed A.java and B.java, both are in same package.
in implementaion of B.java
class B
            A obj = new A();
             //to access A's methods
             A.method();
            // to access A's variable
            //either
           A.variable= value.
           //or
           A.setvariable() or A.getvariable()

How to remove a java script pop up

Hi,
I imported a robohelp document from another company and i am
catering it to my company's needs. The problem is they have popups
which refer to .bmp and it is in java script. If i highlight the
word which has the pop up and remove the popup and then highlight
the normal word again and refer it to my topic in the project
manger; it still refers to their image and not mine. It is strange
but true. I don't know how to remove the java script cos each time
i hover over the highlighted text there are 2 red squares on the
left and right hand side of the word highlighted which i want to
change from their image to mine.
Any help would be much appreciated .

if you could paste this code on your word doc and try to
search for .bmp it exactly shows where it is used i tried removing
that line but it acted strange as even when i added a pop up to a
word it does not show anything in the view mode.
