How to switch from Picasa to Aperture?

Picasa for Mac does not perform too well with a large photo collection and I would like to try Aperture.
How do I transfer my albums and starred images to Aperture?
I have put hundreds of hours of work into my Picasa collection and don't want to loose it when moving to Aperture.

Since this question has been sitting around for a full day without answer, I think I'll add my grain of salt, even if I do not use Picasa

Aperture does not support importing Picasa databases, only folders or iPhoto Libraries.
So to import your Picasa Albums you will
either have to export them to folders on your hard drive (perhaps separate folders for separate star tags) and import those to Aperture,
or to make a detour to iPhoto: In iPhoto you can subscribe to a Photo Feed and so you could try to build an iPhoto Library by downloading your Picasa albums from a Photo Feed (http://www.tuaw.com/2009/07/24/ilife-101-switch-from-picasa-to-iphoto/). Once you have your Picasa albums in iPhoto you can import the iPhoto Library into Aperture.
But whatever you will do to make the transition, be sure to create a working backup of your setup before you start. Importing to iPhoto or Aperture will create duplicates of your images, and since Picasa just references all images on your system and keeps scanning your system for new images, these duplicates may corrupt your Picasa albums.

Sounds like a problem for forums/support from the DB provider, as this problem is normally solved through some form of HA provided by the DB (or some cluster software, but still not Java) with, normally, a shared (virtual) IP address.

How to switch from text message to iMessage for 1 contact

I have one friend with an iPhone who all of the sudden in my messaging has switched from iMessage to text messages with working WiFi on and stable, on my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.1.2). This is not a cellular or wifi issues, I guarantee, I am iMessaging other people without problem. She is also iMessaging other people without problem.
I have tried all work arounds I've seen on the web including:
-turning iMessage on and off, turning the phone on and off
-deleting all conversation with her and then sending a new message
-labeling the contact as an "iPhone" on my iPad (doesn't seem to switch label to "iPhone" and "iPhone" is no longer available as a label on iPhone)
-sending an iMessage on my iPad to her and then trying to use same message stream on the iPhone
This is beyond ridiculous that there is no way to switch from text to iMessage, I know how to switch from iMessage to text when the "error" comes up that it can't be sent as in iMessage. Any ideas?

You didn't mention trying these two steps:
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.

what is the best method to switch from Aperture 3.x to iPhoto 11?
I have about 5000 photos grouped by albums an projects in my Aperture library and would like to move them all to iPhoto 11 as I don't need the pro features of Aperture any longer.
Is it possible to move without loosing meta informations?

There's no best way, there's the only way.
1. Export all your Masters
2. Export all your Versions
You can write the metadata to the files on export - check out the Export presets. Note that you cannot export Faces. There is no convention for sharing Faces. The best you can do is use Faces as a basis for keywording.
Import them into iPhoto. Note that there is no way to associate the masters with the versions in iPhoto, so you'll have apparent duplicates.

Trying to switch from iphoto to aperture 3

I am in the process of moving photos from iphoto to aperture 3. Because I am out of memory i have backed up my iphoto library and aperture library to an ehd. My aperture library had many duplicates and was incomplete so after backing everything up I deleted all projects and picture files in aperture, emptied all trashes and want to begin moving iphoto library over. I still have no memory...ARGHHH. can someone help me please?

Hard Drive space, but now it seems that Aperture is still deleting files. My Apertrue trash says that there are 1564 files to be deleted, but it continues to run and fill the macbook trash. I am finally gaining some free space.
Any recommendations on how to switch to Aperture. Should I import the whole library or just one project at a time?

iTunes Store > Sign In, and view your account.
As I say if your address and payment information are US addresses then this is very odd. In that case contact iTunes Store Support and have them fix this.

For anyone with no data plan and only using wifi like mel_222 and myself, the iphone will not be able to send a message to these people who the phone has recognized as having ios5 unless the phone has a wifi connection because it is an imesssage. I am having the same problem, hopefully someone will know how to switch it. Hopefully this clarifies for anyone who might be able to answer. Luckily I will have a data plan kick in in a week, but I am sure some people who buy the phone outright will be faced with this issue.

You can directly install Photoshop CC following the instructions from the link: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.
Your existing Creative Suite installation will not be affected by installing the new CC applications. For example, you can install and use both Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC on the same computer.
