How to switch library over to laptop?

PLEASE, someone tell me I will be able to switch my current iTunes library onto my new laptop, since I'm getting rid of my desktop computer. This is possible, right? I just can't figure out how to do it! THanks!

How to transfer library to new laptop

Hi all
I am hoping someone can help me!
I have bought a new laptop and installed iTunes onto it. My iTunes library however is on my husbands laptop and I cannot work out how to transfer it from his laptop to my new one. I've tried the "Export" option under File menu but it doesn't seem to work.
Can anyone please explain to me in simple steps (and non techie language!!) how I export my library? I do not have an exernal harddrive either, I only have a small capacity memory stick so if I need to put the music on the stick I may need to repeat the process a few times!

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

On any page of the iTunes Store, click the flag at the lower right. This will bring up a dialog where you can select a new country.

How to switch Datasource from OLE to ODBC for existing report

I have a report that must be deployed to an app that requires all datasource connections to be ODBC. I do not have access to the source for this app since it is from/developed by a 3rd party.
My report has 3 commands (Command, Command_1, Command_2) against an OLE datasource. I cannot figure out how to switch these over from OLE to my ODBC datasource and still maintain all the existing Crystal internal references to fields for the content, formulas, etc.

need some help, i'm trying to switch my library over to a new laptop. tried to "share" both computers. it works on the old one and shows the "sharing" line on the left side. but when i turn sharing on to the new computer it says that "sharing" is on but doesn't show it on the left hand side. does that make any sense to anyone?????

How do I get album art in library over to Ipod?

I manually manage my IPOD, so no auto-synch when I plug it in. I've got all the album artwork in my library, but can't figure out how to get it over to the actual ipod. I imagine it's simple, but I can't get it. Thanks for any help anyone can provide...

At a guess you'd have to make sure the "Display album artwork on your iPod" option is selected on the music tab, then drag and drop the tracks again. I don't really play with manual mode but iTunes might ignore requests to duplicate existing files so it might be that you have to remove the originals before you can copy in the replacements. The alternative is to switch to automatic sync of selected playlists. That way any changes you make in your library can be automatically reflected to the iPod.

I set up individual Apple ID's for my children so that they could have their own Apple ID on their individual iPad minis (gifts from grandparents last year). When I go to iCloud under Settings, I see my Apple ID listed at the top, then my children's listed under Family Sharing. So the device is still using my Apple ID for iCloud, iTunes, etc., correct?
To "assign" their own Apple ID to their own iPad mini, I would need to "Sign Out" from my Apple ID. When I attempt to do so, I receive a warning that all of the Documents and Data will be lost/deleted.
So, instead of doing this, I figured out that I could do what you suggested. Signing in using a child's Apple ID will allow her/him to use Game Center, FaceTime, and Messages just fine. However, using their Apple ID for iTunes & App Store proved to be a problem: Purchased Music and Movies appeared in iTunes, but my Purchased Apps did not appear. Some Apps even disappeared, e.g. Proloquo4Text (a $99 app to help my son speak with his iPad).
So I reverted to using my Apple ID for iTunes & App Store, and I get everything that I want, EXCEPT for the iCloud storage for each Apple ID.
So that's when I started wondering how Family Sharing was really benefiting me ~ It was a lot of work (deleting apps to allow space to download iOS 8, etc) without any benefit that I can see. UNLESS I find a means to allow me to sign in each iPad's iCloud account with a different AppleID, then perhaps restore the Documents and Data from a backup? Would that work?

About the iTunes library files
Your iTunes library files track the media you add to iTunes, how you've organized it, and other information such as playlists. By default, these two files are in your iTunes folder:
Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Windows Vista: C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\
Windows 7: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\
Windows 8: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\

How can I make sure that there is absolutely NO sharing of my library over any network (including whatever wifi I connect to) ?

- I don't want my library to ever be available to anybody.
- I want to be sure it doesn't automatically switch back to being available after some update or whatever
- I would like to know a few things about how often my library was available in the past, considering that I've only just figured out that it was.
Specifically, I'd like to know - was it available to other people connecting through the same wifi even when I had the application closed?

It would help if you provided more information. I add hundreds of files to my library each year with 12+ years iTunes use. One duplicate per year = something you are doing is causing this. Realize if you drag a file from your anywhere on your computer except the iTunes media folder to iTunes, iTunes puts a copy of the file into the correct media library folder and adds the track to the library file database you see in the iTunes window. If you drag the file to iTunes again it will do it all again = duplicate.

You don't. You synch your iPod to your computer. There's no way to synch from iPad to iPod. You can tranfer the same playlists to your iPod from the computer.
