How to switch screen display to projector using fn button

Just started to use an external projector via usb with my Macbook.  Can anyone advise me how to switch the display from the screen to the computer.  I believe it is via the Fn button......... thanks

He might have inadvertently hit a keyboard shortcut for zoom: go to System Preferences -> Universal Access and see if Zoom is turned on. If so, turn it off and it should return to normal.
If that's not it, there is another possibility: go to System Preferences -> Displays and click on Display. Check to see that the highlighted resolution is the last (highest) one; that is the native resolution; if you reduce it, everything becomes larger.

  • Screen display looks fuzzy using xf86-video-intel on a HP Pavilion 23

    Hello,
First off I want to say, thank you for Arch! Been using some distros on and off and I think I found my /home! I made a full plunge into Linux a bit ago after some Windows 8.1 issues, switched to Arch and not looking back. Anyways, So far all my computers are either Arch or Manjaro which I am moving more towards straight arch as Manjaro does have some issues when updating your system (dependency loops). All and all not bad, just liking the full control of a pure system then building from scratch.
Ok, the issue at hand. I have removed Windows 8.1 from my HP All in One Pavilion 23 machine....what a nightmare that was.... Everything was good after turning off secure boot. I installed Arch Linux (3.14.4-1) x86_64, and I am having issues getting the xf86-video-intel driver to play nice with X.
    I have taken a screenshot:
    Screenshot
I notice this starts right after the choosing the Arch Linux from the boot option menu. It starts the load nice and crisp but after a second the screen flickers with some lines at the top of the screen, random colors, only about the top 3rd of the screen. This modules begin to load but the terminal text looks blocky and horrible.
I am using Openbox 3.5.2-6 with slim 1.3.6-4. Running xorg-server 1.15.1-1 and xorg-server-utils 7.6-3 with all the dependencies of course.

    # The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are

    # in this array. For instance:
    # MODULES="piix ide_disk reiserfs"
    MODULES="i915"
    # BINARIES
    # This setting includes any additional binaries a given user may
    # wish into the CPIO image. This is run last, so it may be used to
    # override the actual binaries included by a given hook
    # BINARIES are dependency parsed, so you may safely ignore libraries
    BINARIES=""
    # FILES
    # This setting is similar to BINARIES above, however, files are added
    # as-is and are not parsed in any way. This is useful for config files.

    # This is the most important setting in this file. The HOOKS control the

    # order in which HOOKS are added. Run 'mkinitcpio -H <hook name>' for
    # help on a given hook.
    # 'base' is _required_ unless you know precisely what you are doing.
    # 'udev' is _required_ in order to automatically load modules
    # 'filesystems' is _required_ unless you specify your fs modules in MODULES

    ## This setup specifies all modules in the MODULES setting above.
    ## No raid, lvm2, or encrypted root is needed.

    ## This setup will generate a 'full' image which supports most systems.
    ## No autodetection is done.
    # HOOKS="base udev block filesystems"
    ## This setup assembles a pata mdadm array with an encrypted root FS.
    ## Note: See 'mkinitcpio -H mdadm' for more information on raid devices.

I saw your post, and had found it incredulous that you have a 1920x1080 display.  A bit of research and I found I was wrong.
So, it appears you are driving the panel at its native resolution.  Unfortunately, trying to determine what you mean by "Fuzzy" is probably going to be like trying to nail Jello to a tree.  But, let's give it a shot.  Is it fuzzy before you start X?  Are lines and shapes fuzzy? Or is it just text that is fuzzy?
If it is just fonts, it could be a problem with hinting.  Hinting is where the edges of fonts are deliberately fuzzed and feathered to get the kerning correct when the physical pixels of the display don't quite line up.  This works well, unless the thing doing the hinting does not understand the geometry of the display.  In a color LCD, each pixel is actually made up of smaller sub pixels, generally three -- A red, a green, and a blue.  Green is usually in the middle.  Some displays have Two greens per pixel, arranged RGBG.  Some displays even have yellow subpixels.  Sometimes the subpixels are arranged left to right, sometimes they are arranged top to bottom.  Long story short, if you have hinting enabled, but the geometry is configured incorrectly, bad things happen.   Take a look at this wiki article

  • How to switch the keyboard language when using a bluetooth keyboard?

When using the on-screen keyboard I have the little globe to switch languages, but when using a bluetooth keyboard the on-screen keyboard is hiden.
I want to be able to write in different languages using the bluetooth keyboard, also the auto-correct gets in the way if I write in a different language than english and it tries to change the words to the closest similar english word.
    Help!

I see that now Tom, I'm sorry to confuse things.  I think my problem might have been that I had the keyboard too far away from the phone, and so when I looked back from the keyboard to the phone, the screen indication of the languages had already disappeared from the screen.  Because I have more than one language with Roman characters installed, I thought that no change was occurring from that sequence of commands, since I wasn't getting Korean.  But now that I see your correction, and watch the screen closely, I see that you're right.  I apologize.  (And of course, I'm grateful to have a simpler way of switching languages!)

  • How can I progressively display a Path using animation?

I have a defined simple path that I want to display incrementally.
In the example below I initialize two PathElement[] variables e0 and e1 representing initial and final states of the elements of the path.

  • How to Limit the Displaying of Data Using PointTheme over the map

    Hi,
I have the following requirement, which i'm trying to implement with <dvt:map & <dvt:PointTheme components.
*The requirement is ... I have a base map, which is being accessed via <dvt:map component. And i'm using point theme to display certain data over the map. Let us consider, over the US map ... i'm displaying 24 points(for each polygonone point .... taking the centroid of each polygon) when the map zoom level is 0.
At this zoom level '0', user can see all 24 points. But when the user start clicking on '+' to Zoom In(Now the zoom level is '1'), at this zoom level user can see only 18 points. User can see the remaining 6 points by dragging the base map to either sides.
This mean, irrespctive of the zoom level the point theme is rendering the all the points over the map. Instead, i would like to display the data specific to the polygons that are visible to the user. At zoom level '0', if the user is able to see all the polygons, then display all 24 points. And at zoom level '1'...if the user is able to see 18 polygons and then display only those 18 points. And if the user tries to see the other polygons data ... user may drag the base map either sides. In that case, the point theme should render data specific to the polygons that the user is able to see.
Similarly, if the user is at zoom level '2'...at this zoom level user is able to see 13 polygons over the IE. so the point theme should render only 13 points specific to each polygon. If the user tries to do dragging the base map either sides...then display the points, specific to the polygons that the user is able to see.
Similarly for other zoom levels ... Please let me know if you require any other information.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kiran Konjeti

You'll need to do a little software workaround on the values you read from your counter.   But first a little tutorial to explain *why*.
The E-series boards use 24-bit counters.  When LabVIEW requests an integer count value, the count is returned in a 32-bit unsigned integer datatype, where the 24 lowest bits represent the value in the board's count register.  The upper 8 bits are *always* 0's.
The count register can increment from 0 to 16 million plus (2^24 - 1), then it must "roll over" back to 0 again just like an odometer.  Similarly, when it decrements past 0, it next goes to the max value of 2^24 -1 as you observed.
So we need a little software workaround that'll convert (2^24 -1) to (-1) and (2^24 -2) to (-2), etc.  The way to do it is to first detect whether the highest bit is a 1.  One way is to compare whether the count value is >= 2^23, making sure to use integers to do the comparison.  Whenever the value is >= 2^23, subtract 2^24 from it to create your new count value which will then decrement 3,2,1,0,-1,-2,-3, etc. as desired.
Here's a link to a similar explanation.  Couple more notes too.  First, if this is a continuously rotating encoder, you may still encounter a discontinuity when the revised count value crosses the +/- 2^23 boundary.   Second, direct connection of a quadrature encoder to an E-series board isn't recommended because of unrepeatability when measureing direction changes.

  • How to switch from different views when a common button is clicked on using View states concept

    Hi
i have  made a single form for both Login Screen and Registration screen with two states :
    1. BaseState which is the curret state of  state of My application
    2.registrationstate
I have a common button for changing from one view to another view .(Not related to any of the state)
At first the Login screen is loaded , and when the common  button is clicked , i want to switch to Registration Screen .
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

  • How to get the displayed message when using FM:  ABAP4_CALL_TRANSACTION

    Hi,
I am calling FM ABAP4_CALL_TRANSACTION from MS-Excel.  This FM works perfectly for me except the system messages that SAP returns are not always understandable or intituative.  My question is there another FM or Table that I can use to convert the data from MESS_TAB to a more meaningful message for the users?

    Hi Karim,
when you have the parameter to generate the message, you can use the following RFC function module:
    BAPI_MESSAGE_GETDETAIL
The module has the following interface:
    *"*"Lokale Schnittstelle:
    *"  IMPORTING
    *"     VALUE(ID) LIKE  BAPIRET2-ID

  • How to add screen elements at run time on button click in Web Dynpro abap?

    Hello All,
I have a requirement wherein the user wants to add the textbox dynamically at runtime on button click action. My questions is, Is it feasible to dynamically add screen elements at runtime? If yes, how?
    Please help.
    Thanks

    Hi Ajinkya,
This is absolutely possible! Adding view elements at runtime is called "dynamic programming". There are a lot of good resources and tutorials on SCN if you do a search. To start you off, here is an excellent series by Thomas Szücs:
Dynamic Programming in Web Dynpro ABAP - Introduction and Part I: Understanding UI Elements
Dynamic Programming in Web Dynpro ABAP - Part II: Handling ViewElements
Dynamic Programming in Web Dynpro ABAP - Part III: Aggregations and DDIC-Binding of ViewElements
Another option that avoids dynamic programming is to create the view element at design time but bind its visible property to a context attribute of type WDUI_VISIBILITY. You could initially set its visibility to "none" until the user clicks the button, then you could change its visibility to "visible".
    Cheers,
