How to sync existing AppleTV media data onto newly installed TimeCapsule ?

My configuration is:
MacBook [model=4,1 / MacOSX v10.5.8]
AppleTV [model=A1218]
TimeCapsule [model=A1409]
The TimeCapsule is used for Macbook TimeMachine backups AND it also houses my current iTunes Library [where my iTunes Media directories reside] .
The AppleTV media content is synced with the TimeCapsule -- the "Computers" setting in the AppleTV designates the TC iTL as its link/locked computer .
Then the amber light went on [and stayed on] for the TimeCapsule and the Airport Utility application reported the TC hard disk was damaged .
I bought and installed a new TimeCapsule ; Time Machine backups are now reinstated on the new TC .
How can I reinstate the iTunes Library onto the new TC ? How can I synchronize the existing AppleTV media data [which includes over 20000 songs] down to the new TC ? I can use MacBook iTunes app to create a new empty iTunes Library on the new TC but if I modify the AppleTV setting for "Computers" to "unlink" the old TC then won't I lose everything on the AppleTV ?
HELP !!!
Also, how can I be certain that the backup of my MacBook that has now been created on the new TC via Time Machine is a FULL backup of the MacBook's harddrive and not a partial backup ??

Where is your computer's backup of all important data that should include your iTunes library and should have been created or updated immediately before installing a new OS? Did you lose all important data when doing do or just your iTunes content? The iPhone is not designed or intended to be used as a backup storage device.

I wander how to create a local SLD on a newly installed PI 7.3 system.
When installing I choosed "register in existing central SLD"(other option was "no SLD destination")
On next screen I have choosen SLD HTTP host as the host I was currently installing PI7.3
For SLD HTTP port I have used 50000 as the instance was (the default) "00"
For SLD Data Supplier User I have choosen "SLDDSUSER"
I was warned then that "The SLD Server is not reachable. Choose "Cancell" to modify managing configuration or "OK" to continue. If you choose to continue you will have to execute the smdsetup script later on."
I opted "OK".
if I understand I have to execute smdsetup script in order to create a local SLD
Has anyone experience with it

Hi Jan,
You first need to run the wizard to setup the SLD locally.
To do this, go to the NetWeaver Administrator -> Configuration -> Scenarios -> Configuration Wizard -> Funtional Wizard Configuration UI
There tick System Landscape Directory and select "Enable Automatically".
After executing this, your SLD will be ready for use.
The SMD has nothing to do with the SLD, it's just the next step in the installation process.

How can I save my media/data to alternate HD in Mac Pro?

Hi folks,
I have recently become the proud owner of a new Mac Pro. I'm really enjoying the Mac experience since buying a Macbook before Christmas to test the water.
I have a quick question that I hope someone may be able to help me with. I have a Mac Pro with two hard drives. My intention is to use one HD for system/applications and the other for media/data (with an external HD for backup).
I can't figure out how to tell OSX that I want to save all of my photos/videos/iTunes library on the "other" HD (i.e. not my system HD). I'm sure this is a "dumb" question but could someone please point me in the right direction?

Hi, Simon.
You can instruct iTunes and iPhoto to save their respective libraries to a different disk, e.g. your second hard drive. You can also move existing libraries for these apps to a drive other than your startup disk.

The instructions are very straightforward for how to set up your iPhone, using the Exchange setup, with Gmail sync.
Now that I am set up, all of my existing contacts and calendar events on the phone have not synced over to Gmail, and I can't figure out how to make it happen.
Ideally, I'd like to sync my existing (now inactive) 3GS with Gmail, and then, sync my new iPhone 4 up to Gmail, thereby pulling the contacts and calendar events onto the phone as well.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't understand, but I don't know what else to do. When I made the connection, the mail synced from Gmail just fine. But the contacts and calendar have not left the phone, when I log into my Gmail account via the web, no contacts have copied there from the phone.

How to sync IPhone without losing data?

I have not gotten a new computer.
I haven't used iTunes for the computer in a long time. Probably about a year or two. On iTunes on my pc, I have 99 songs. On my iphone, I have 237. Once before, I tried to sync my itunes and iphone but it erased my songs and filled my entire playlist with a bunch of songs nobody has ever heard of. I was stuck with a bunch of songs I never wanted, and lost my old ones. I had taken my phone to the apple store where they fixed it, and I haven't used itunes since. I have obviously purchased alot of songs since then and I want to update my itunes library so they are all in there because I am supposed to be getting a new phone soon. But I'm afraid that I will end up losing some sort of data in the process, and I do not use the icloud or anything since I find it rather confusing. I don't want to lose hundreds of dollars in music because of a computer program.
I also have CD's that I've downloaded to my computer and want to put into my itunes library then upload the new music to my phone, but yet I am still scared to do anything with the chance I may lose my songs. I feel if I try to sync, my iphone will take the 99 songs from my pc and then the other 138 songs will be long lost.

And how do you expect your database server to access a local file in your machine ?
Is the file accessible from outside your machine say inside a webserver folder so that some DB process can poll on the file ?
Or, is your DB server in the same machine where you have the text file ?
You will have to figure out the file acess part before automating user interaction or even auto-refreshing.

Ignore the message that comes up in iTunes. Hit "Cancel"
There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes.
There is a very direct method, which I personally prefer, but there are also numerous third party applications, which will help you accomplish the task as well. The link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method as well as a few third party applications if you choose to go that route instead.

This is the set-up I use also.
You need to make sure you first have the ODBC MySQL Connector installed on your machine (presuming you are Windows):
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/
WINDOWS
Then you need to go into "ODBC Data Sources". IF you are using Windows 8 or above simply type this into the start screen. Make sure you select the correct version i..e 64-bit if you are running a 64-bit system.
Click 'Add...'
Choose your driver, for me this is 'MySQL ODBC 5.3 Unicode Driver'.
Click "Finish".
You well then be prompted with a configuration screen, the only info I have needed is:
Data Source Name
TCP/IP Server
Port (usually 3306)
User
Password
Database
Click 'Test' to make sure the connection is working. In the past I have errors which were caused by my IP address not being added to the allow list on the server firewall, so be wary of this.
Click 'OK' and that is your connection done.
POWERPIVOT
In powerpivot open your data model and then select 'From Other Sources'
Choose 'Others (OLED/ODBC)'
Enter a name for the connection.
Click 'Build'
Click the 'Provider' tab
Click 'Microsoft OLD DB Provider for ODBC Drivers'
Click 'Next'
From the 'Use Data Source Name' select the data source you created above.
Click 'Test Connection'
Click 'OK'
Click 'Next'
You will then have the option to either write your own query to extract data or to select from a list of tables.

Hi guys -- When I was using mobileme, any change I made on the Address Book of my iPhone would sync automatically to mobileme and to the Address Book of my desktop iMac, it was hassle-free.
Now that iCloud has replaced mobileme, how can I do the same?
I've already updated my iPhone 3GS to the latest iOS 5 and my iMac is running 10.6.8.
Do I HAVE to upgrade to Lion?? I don't want to.

You do have to upgrade to Lion to enable you mac to sync with iCloud, as it is built into OS X in System Preferences (see http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html). Once you do this you can enable syncing with Address Book, iCal, etc.

After using media from iCloud on a MacBook , how do you send the media back onto the cloud so the media is stored there and not in my MacBook?

After downloading media from iCloud and watching/listening to it, how do you send it back to the iCloud for storing it rather than leave it in my MacBook?

Apps, music, books, tv shows, movies and music videos are already in iCloud. All you need to do is delete them from your Mac and you can download them again in the future as explained here: Download past purchases. (This is not available for audiobooks, ringtones or tones.) However, to download them again they still have to be available in the iTunes, iBooks and App stores, and the copyright owner has to allow it. To avoid the risk of them not being available in the future, keep them in your iTunes library.
