  • Sync iphone to two computers without delete data

    Hi everybody!
I want to sync an iphone4 to two computers, both of them running mac os X 10.5.8 and iTunes 10.
The first one, called home computer, holds apps, music, videos, podcasts, photos. I don't want to sync contacts and calendars on it.
The second one, called office computer, contains just that: contacts and calendars, and nothing else. Actually, it contains a few other items, but I don't care to sync them.
First, I disabled automatic syncing in both computers.
Then I synced the iphone to the home computer, checking all the requested panes: apps, music, videos, podcasts, photos. I unchecked just the info pane. Everything worked fine.
Troubles are coming syncing to the second computer, office computer.
I check the info pane (everything ok, so far). But when I uncheck the app pane, it appears a box asking (sorry not to be precise, I have to translate from italian) "Do you really want to unsync all apps? All apps contained in iphone will be deleted". If I choose not to sync, the multicolor bar below starts worringly to decrease, and the green part (apps) disappears.
I wanted not to sync the app in the iphone, not to delete them!
The same happens if I uncheck all other interested panes, i.e. music, videos, podcasts, photos.
The final result is a sad, short bar showing just a very small yellow strip, "other" meaning contacts and calendar.
    What I have to do?

With the iPhone, you can sync all iTunes content with only one computer.  Trying to sync iTunes content with a second computer will result in iTunes erasing the content from the first computer.  However, non-itunes content such as contacts, calendars, mail settings, notes, etc. (anything in the Info pane) can be synced from another computer.
Do not allow your iPhone to sync until you have set up your selections.  Prevent automatic syncing one time, without changing settings:  Open iTunes. Then, as you connect iPhone to your computer, press and hold Command-Option (on a Mac) or Shift-Control (on a PC) until you see iPhone appear in the sidebar.
At home, make your selections from the Music, Videos, Applications, etc. panes, but leave the selections in the Info pane that you want synced from your work computer unchecked.  When you are finished, click the "Apply" button at the bottom right of the iTunes window.
At work, Prevent automatic syncing one time, without changing settings:  Open iTunes. Then, as you connect iPhone to your computer, press and hold Command-Option (on a Mac) or Shift-Control (on a PC) until you see iPhone appear in the sidebar.  Make sure all options in all the panes you used at home are deselected (not checked), particularly the "Sync Music" at the top of the music pane.
Go to the Info pane and select your sync choices that you left unchecked at home (such as contacts, calendars), then click the "Apply" button at the bottom right of  the iTunes window.

  • How to sync iphone on two computers

I use my desktop Mac Pro and its iTunes and iPhoto to do all of my music purchases, iphone games and apps purchases and manage my photos, and have my iphone synched to it, but I am going travelling and will be taking my MBP laptop.
My laptop iTunes/iPhoto has none of my music, iphone games and apps or photos on it so I know that if I connect the iphone to it and try to sync it, it won't work.
I would like to have all of the same music, photos and purchased games moved over to my laptop so that I can use it to keep my iphone synched and also be able to buy additional games and music and be able to update iphone games and apps while I am travelling.
Can anyone please advise me on how to go about getting the same stuff on my laptop so that I can use it to keep my iphone synched while I am travelling?
    Thanks for any advice.

    You're welcome.
Would copying my iTunes folder also bring along the purchased games and apps?
    Yes.
All iTunes content is stored in the iTunes named folder located in your Music folder. You need to copy the entire iTunes named folder and place it in the same location on your MBP for iTunes on your MBP to be identical as of the time you copied the iTunes folder.
Can you please tell me how to authorize my MBP with my iTunes account?
At the iTunes menu bar, go to Store and select Authorize Computer. Enter the same email account being used for your iTunes account on your Mac Pro.
Will this cause problems if I try to use the Mac Pro for synching as well or will I only be able to use one computer at any one time with the iphone?
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only. When syncing an iPhone with an iTunes library on another computer, all iTunes content transferred to the iPhone from a different computer will be erased first. The same applies to photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone.
Contact info, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks can be synced with the supported applications on multiple computers.
You will be better off in the long run using one computer for your iTunes library and for storing photos in regards to syncing with your iPhone.

  • How to sync iPhone to new computer without erasing? (iTunes 11.0.5)

I recently purchased a new computer (MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.5) and I've tried everything to sync my iPhone (3GS) to iTunes (11.0.5)  without having to erase everything and I haven't had any success.
There must be someone out there who has been able to sync their phone to the new iTunes without having to erase all the content on their phone.
    Any help?

    Hi,
    Option 1:
If you have purchased a new Mac from an Local Apple store, I'd advise you to bring in your old computer along with your new one in, and have them assist you on transferring. (Assuming your computer doesn't not even power up)
    Option 2:
If your computer can be powered up (seeing the Apple Logo), and your hard drive is fine, then you can connect the two computers by using a Firewire cable, and then transfer the music files by drag and drop.

    Option 3:
There are 3rd party software that you may purchase used to extract music from your iPhone, but it will have to be done at your own risk.  You may Google for extracting music from iPhone for a start.

  • How do I sync my iPhone to my MacBook without having to erase everything?

    Hi,
I've had my iPhone for a little over a year now, and it used to be synced with a PC desktop. This summer, I got a MacBook Pro, and moved my iTunes library over to the MacBook using an external hard drive (which I struggled with - I lost all my playlists and a couple dozen songs, but I've sort of figured it out). But I still haven't synched my iPhone to my MacBook yet. I'm in college, so I decided that when I came home, I would try and sync it, because just in case anything goes wrong, I would be at home where the desktop is.
So I homeshared a couple of albums with my sister onto my MacBook, and when I tried to sync my iPhone to my MacBook, it told me that I would have to erase everything to be able to sync it to that computer.
I called Apple and talked to them (with little success) about how to avoid erasing everything, but they said I don't have many options, and that the iTunes back up only backs up "iTunes purchases." Obviously, all my music isn't purchased on iTunes, so I really don't want to lose half of my iTunes library.
My problem is that I can't figure out how to be able to sync my iPhone to my MacBook without erasing everything. I'm not able to come home frequently enough to be able to get new music onto my MacBook, homeshare it with the desktop, and then sync my iPhone to the desktop. Especially after I graduate, I really don't want to be tied down to the desktop at my parent's house.
How can I fix this? The Apple guy said that Apple products are "monogomous" - they only like to be synched to one computer. How can I switch computers without losing everything on my iPhone?
    Please help!

  • How to sync iPhone with new Mac without losing all my iTunes?

I have recently got a new MacBook after my old one crashed... but I have been told that anything not bought would be lost when I sync my iPhone with my new Mac... I have already transferred the bought songs etc... is there a way (cheap or free if possible!) to transfer my music and videos to my iTunes library on my Mac?
    Thank you very much!

  • How to manage iphone on two computers!

    Hello,
I have and iphone 3gs and i used in a windows xp pc
Yesterday the computer was not warking due to a BSoD (classic for windows)
So i have installed a windows 7 and i would like to manage my iphone from the new installation without loosing the data.
Also i bought a macbook pro win mac os x Lion and i would like to know if i will be able to manage my iphone from both computers
    best regards

You can sync photos and itunes content with one and only one computer at a time.  If you sync to another you will lose all itunes content and pics.
If you have contacts on the other computer then you could sync with that computer.  If the other computer is blank then so to will be the iphone after syncing

  • How to sync iphone to multi computers

    Hello Guys,
I got an new iphone 3gs recently and I use two laptops, so how do I sync my iphone to both and load songs from both the lappies. please help me guys

Read Chapter 1. I don't know what the "blue pop-up of death" is so I can't help you with that. You need to be using compatible software on your home computer, for contacts, calendar, etc. be sure you have at least one entry on your home computer so it will merge data. Deselect the option on your work computer to sync music, etc.

  • Syncing iPhone with Two Computers: Mac and PC

I have a Macbook running 10.7.1 at home and a PC at work running Windows 7 and Outlook 2010.  I sync my iPhone (music, photos, contacts, calendars, photos) with my Macbook at home. I have set up MobileMe syncing on my MacBook and iPhone.
If I install iTunes on my work PC, set up MobileMe syncing with Outlook, etc., can I then connect my iPhone to my work PC without problems?  Or, upon syncing my iPhone with my work PC, will everything be erased?
I am trying to sync calendars and contacts through MobileMe to my iPhone while continuing to sync all of my music, apps, etc. to my Macbook at home.
    Thanks

Let me try to explain.  I want my sync my work calendar and contacts from my work PC to my iPhone while maintaining everything else (music, apps, pictures, etc.) on my MacBook.
Can I sync my work PC Outlook calendar and contacts through the air using MobileMe and connect my iPhone only to my MacBook?
    Thanks.

  • How to sync iphone to new mac without losing iPhone info

My Mac was fixed by apple care and they replaced the drive. Now my phone detects a "new" computer and watns of data loss. Please advise

You can transfer itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
You can e-mail the Photo library pics to yourself.  They will not be of the original quality.
You can import the pics taken with iphone as you would with any digita camera.
If you enter at least one unique contact and calendar entry on the new computer, then when you first sync, you should get the option to merge the data.

  • How to sync iphone with multiple computers

I have had an iMac for the last 7 months now and have been sync'ing my iphone to it. I just got a Mac Mini the other day. I logged into my itunes account on the Mac Mini & purchased some new music. After plugging in my iphone to the Mac Mini, I tried to transfer the new music to my iphone but it came up with the message asking me if I wanted to erase what was currently on my iphone.
Obviously, Apple doesn't let you sync your iphone to more than one computer. Is there any workaround to this? I want to be able to get the music from iTunes to my iPhone.
I tried to load the music into my iDisk (with my MobileMe account) and I can stream it to my iphone (using the iDisk app) but I would like to actually have the music on my iphone itself.
If there are workarounds, I would love to know. Thanks!

Iphone will sync itunes content with one and only one computer.
    This is by design.
If you sync to another it will indeed erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
Put everything on one computer and sync to that one.

  • How to sync iPhone 5s with iTunes without getting error Msg: "com.apple.MediaLibraryService quit unexpectedly"?

I had to restore Mavericks on my MacBook Pro and since the restoration, whenever I sync my iPhone 5s with iTunes, I get the error message "com.apple.MedialLibraryService quit unexpectedly". Any solutions?

Thanks for the link, Niel.  I'm kind of disappointed with Apple that they're making us buy an upgrade to her OS to get all of her Apple products to work together.  It seems weird that we could have any old Windows machine and this would work great, but the fact that she has a MacBook is screwing this up.

  • How to sync calendars between two Macs without Mobile Me?

Is there a way to sync calendars between my wife's Mac and my Mac without Mobile Me? They are in the same house and I don't see the need to go thousands of miles and over the Internet for that purpose. Thanks.

Yes, you pretty much just drag and drop or copy and paste depending on which way you like better. It is pretty much like connecting an external hard drive. Just find the files you want and copy them over to your other computer.
This is one of my favorite features from Macs. It's very simple to do and because it's Firewire even large files transfer over very quickly.

  • How to sync iPhoto on two computers

I have two iMacs and want to sync my entire iPhoto Library between the two, including albums, keywords, etc. It doesn't seem possible with MobileMe. Is there an easy and automatic way of doing that?

What do you mean by "Sync".
The general term means when two Libraries (A and B) are compared and files in Library A are copied to Library B, while files in Library B are also copied to Library A so that both Libraries are identical.
This is bi-directional copying and you cannot do this with automatically with iPhoto. No Syncing software is capable of parsing the iPhoto Library in this manner. One or both of your Libraries will be damaged if you try this.
You can have uni-directional copying - files in Library A are copied to Library B - this is essentially backing up. Obviously you can also copy from Library B to Library A.
The nearest you can get to syncing is to use iPhoto Library Manager to move files/Albums/Events plus assoicated metadata between Libraries. This process cannot be automated.

    TD
