How to sync ipod in with my wifes acct and get my music

My mini has 2 accounts: mine and my wifes.  Both accounts have their own iTunes Music libraries.
Our iPod Touch is always synced to my wife's account.
When I open iTunes in my wife's account I see my library and can play music from my library.
However I want to be able to sync the iPod to her account and include my music.  That is not happening.
How do I do that?
Thanks,
Owen

Thanks for the reply.
I don't like the idea of duplicate files, which I unfortunately already have without knowing. Years ago I shared music files across accounts on my old mac mini, which I didn't think caused duplication, but those files are  now duplicated on the new mini.  The problem is I have no way of knowing which music in my wifes account was purchased with my Apple ID, without looking at my account.
I read a little about Home Sharing and Media Sharing.
My sharing needs are limited to music file between 2 accounts on one computer, an iPad (synced to my wifes account) and an iPod (synced to my wifes account).  My impression is that Home Sharing is the best choice.  However, the Apple Support page says I'll need to "use the same Apple ID on each device on your home Wi-Fi network".   Does that mean I can't use Home Sharing across our 2 accounts which access iTunes with separate Apple IDs.

  • How to sync Address book with iphone(iOS 6) and 10.7.4?

How to sync Address book with iphone(iOS 6) and 10.7.4

i'm having this issue too.  it's a bit more complex though i think so i'll give the details:
a few days ago i added some people to my contacts using my phone. the thing they have in common is they're all new contacts.
they synced over to my macbook address book ok.
then a few days later i had to do a full restore of my iphone for various reasons (the new one, already!) which i did. when i then looked in my iphone contacts, these contacts were no longer there. they WERE however, still in my macbook address book.
so i figured i'd switch icloud syncing off for contacts and then resync to get them back on my phone. it didn't work. so i then turned off icloud sync and tried a good old manual sync via itunes, making sure to check the box for syncing contacts.  it still didn't work.
now i'm at that odd place where the contacts are in my macbook address book but not in my phone and i can't seem to get them onto my phone (which is frustrating as ultimately they are phone numbers and in my phone is the best place for them!)
    any ideas?

Im switching email accounts on my itunes account am the computer isnt recognizing purchases made from my other account on the new one (apps). How can I sign in with my new account and get the purchases apps on both accounts?

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.
This is a picture of what it looks like now:
    http://tinypic.com/r/107quxu/7
As you can see, the stuff circled in red doesn't give me an option to download from Cloud Beta because it already says "downloaded".
any way to get around that?

  • Sync iPod Touch with PC at home and Mac at work?

So I'm getting a free iPod Touch from work (Yay!). Is it possible to sync the calendar and contacts with Outlook (or another program) on my home PC, and also with iCal and Address Book on my Mac at work?

This hasn't been my experience actually. I can plug in my iPod Touch to my home Mac, and sync the calendars there, then I can plug into my work PC and sync my work calendar. The only thing I'm having trouble with, is that Outlook on my PC will not merge the other calendars, so if I enter a personal appoitnment on my home Mac, it will show up in a separate calendar on my iPod Touch, and not at all on Outlook on my PC... Not ideal, but at least my iPod Touch seems to have everything on it.

  • Can I sync my ipad with my wifes itunes and download her apps in addition to mine?

I would like to add applications from my itunes and my wifes itunes account to my ipad 2.  Is that possible?

Contrary to the 2 above comments, iTunes content acquired from the iTunes Store can be shared with 5 other authorized computers. You may only sync an iOS device to one iTunes account, but you can share the content acquired by one iTunes Store account with other iOS devices.
The first thing that you and your wife need to do is to open iTunes and go to Preferences/Devices and check the box for Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically. Now you have control of your iOS device when it is connected to the other's account.
If you want the apps from your wife's iPad, connect the iPad to the computer and iTunes app to which you sync your iPad. Control click or right click her iPad's name in the iTunes devices list in the left column and choose Transfer Purchases. All purchased iTunes content on her iPad will by transfered to your iTunes account. After the transfer is complete, detatch her iPad and go to Authrize This Computer in the iTunes Store menu. Enter her Apple ID and password for her iTunes Store account and Authorize. Now all of her content is available to you and any iOS device which you sync to your iTunes account. You can do the same in reverse with your iPad for her.
The one thing to remember is that these are still her apps or your apps. So these apps can only be updated with the account that acquired them. If you open iTunes and see that there are apps with updates, to update your apps log into your iTunes Store account. To update her apps, log into her iTunes Store account. If you see apps to update but after logging into your iTunes Store account you are told there are no updates for you, then you know that the apps that have updates are hers.

  • How to sync 2 iPhones with 1 iTunes library and have separate settings?

    Hi,
in the family we have one Mac that hods all the music within iTunes. We have two iPhones which are currently linked with this iTunes library. As we have different apps and different settings the iphones get confused with the apps and especially with the iPhone settings (I have mobileme, my wife not). So now we both have each others notes for example synced to both iPhones.
We would like to separate the whole thing now - is there any save way to have these iPhones synced separately to the one iTunes library without loosing data?
    Thanks.

    Hi, thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately this does not work because iTunes still keeps one account with the store active regardless which library I open. So when I switch the account in the store it will be switched for both libraries. That means that I can not separate the iPhone applications and all the other specific sync parameters.
I thought about using my wife's account on the Mac and pointing iTunes to the new library - the problem here is that then the iPhoto library is not accessible any more......
I can't really believe that there is no solution from Apple - I mean there must be more couples and families out there with 2 and more iPhones syncing with one iTunes / iPhoto etc libraries.
Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • Ask your question. How to sync ical 3 with icloud calendar

How to sync ical 3 with icloud calendar?

And the additional problem is that once you give in and go iCloud, no rep will tell you there are iCloud limits on iCal's size, so that if you're calendar is say 10 years old, with 10 events per day, and there's a 25K event limit, it won't work, even if you buy all the storage in the world. Which means that's syncing is OVER.
So far I've tried three calendar alts: Fantastical (rated one of the top iCal alts); Pocket Informant (allegedly capable of superpowers); and Calendars. Not a single one is able to do the one simple task of
    1) integrating an ical ics file,
    2) placing a calendar program on the desktop and the iPhone
    3) keeping them both in sync.
And Google's cloud has even more restrictions than iCloud, and for frack's sake why can't I keep a calendar off the net?
This is really getting to annoy me. Chelsea, a tech support supervisor, offered that if I pay $99/year I can become a developer and get the next beta iTunes which will allegedly offer local syncing. Great.

You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year.  It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you.  Items that it does not find in the catalog it'll upload and store these in the cloud for you and you can download them on your devices.  See http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/

  • I accidently synced my ipad with my wife's ipad, how do i go back to my ipad sync?

I need to restore my ipad to my sync on itunes.  I inadvertently synced my ipad with my wife's itunes account.

You will need to go in and plug in your iPad to iTunes. There it should ask you about the sync with your wife's itunes account and you should be able to sync it back with yours.

  • Any problems in syncing iPod Touch with new computer?

My wife's iBook died and now I need to switch her to a newer computer. She had been syncing her iPod Touch with the old computer and she also has an iTunes account. During the down time she has been entering calendar data directly into the iPod Touch.
When I get her backup data into the new computer what kind of problems will we encounter? Will it correctly sync her calendars and contacts? Can she move or close her iTunes account from the new computer? Thanks.

Before you scrap the old one, go into iTunes and deauthorize the computer. When you get the new one set up and ready to go, go back into iTunes and authorize the new computer.
I'm not sure how you plan to transfer your library, but a portable hard drive or a big memory stick do work well. Don't forget to copy over the xml file as well as that will preserve your settings in iTunes.

  • How to sync iPhone 3G with MacBook (previously syncing with Windows)

Hi, I just bought a my first Mac ever, it the brand new MacBook 13" and so far I'm loving the whole Mac experience. I have a question though. I have an iPhone 3G and until now I sync it with my other Win machine. Everything is ok there. However, I'm now thinking to start using the iPhone with my MacBook but I don't know how to sync the iPhone with the Mac without losing the info I have in the iPhone. I'm not concerned about the apps, music or videos because I know to transfer that kind of info to another machine (i did it already with my iPod touch and the iPod classic and everything went fien, I didn't lose any data in the process). However, with the iPhone I don't want to lose the contacts and the saved SMSs. Can anyone tell me how to sync the iPhone to my Mac easily without losing anything? btw, I have no songs in the iPhone, just one free app (midomi). I heard that I can automatically get the app in any other computer as long as I use the same iTunes account so the server remembers that I "bought" it.

thxs Scott, that is actually what I thought that would happen but I wasn't sure. I will give it a try later. Btw, when you say: "make sure to backup the info", do I need to do a backup manually or, is it ok if I just connect the iPhone to the old machine so iTunes can make the automatic backup?
    cheers.
Nah, just sync it with the Windows machine before you begin. Odds on you won't need it, but if you do, then at least it is there.

  • HT1329 how to sync ipod to a new computer when your old computer is dead

how to sync ipod to a new computer when your old computer is dead

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to the iTunes preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.

Once you've done that, you can sync your iPod to iTunes as normal.
