How to sync more than one iPhone on same computer?

I have multiple iphones under my family plan as well as iPad2.   I use one iMac mainly for my business & to update my iphone 4s, and the older intel imac  to update the other devices.
When we try to update/sync we get info from the last person who synced their iphone which is info that the other person may not want.
How does one set up two different 24" Imacs running Lion so that each person's iphone etc. is recognized and contains just their info when opening/syncing to iTunes.
I think I read somewhere that each person needs their own apple ID no./account?
If so, how does having each of us with their own account ID work if we all use the same computer?
Do we need to set up separate individual user accounts and when that person wants to sync to itunes they would log out of which account the computer is and log onto their own account before trying to sync to itunes?
Thanks
Bob

It's easier if each person has their own AppleID, that way when the connect they can login to iTunes as their Apple ID and their apps, music, etc.. will sync. The only other way I know how of doing it is create user accounts for each of the people logging into the computer and then they will be forced to used their own AppleID's. To create accounts for each person go to System Preferences - Users & Groups and add users by clicking the + at the bottom of the column.
BTW PLEASE complete your profile. We have a tough time helping if we don't even know what version of OS X you're running and what iMac you have. You can easily do this by clicking Your Stuff in the upper right then click Profile and add the pertinent information.

Do the same for each iphone.

  • Syncing more than one iphone to my computer

    Despite my best efforts, when syncing my girlfriend's new iPhone to my computer (which was previously synced with all my own iPhone data), it has done what I dreaded - it has duplicated MY contacts with her contacts, and vice versa.  Can I ask;
    a) Is it possible to separate our addresses, after they've "joined"?
    b) How do I prevent future mixing of our seperate data (contacts, dates, etc)?
    Thanks, Tony

The problem is this: By design, an iPhone will sync or manually manage iTunes content with ONE computer at a time. Any attempt to sync or manually manage iTunes content with a second computer will result in ALL iTunes content being first erased from your phone, to be replaced with the content from the second computer. There is no way to override this design feature.

how do you sync more than one iphone on one computer?

Just plug in the second iPhone like you did the first and tell it what to sync to and you'll be good to go (just make sure the second iPhone is named something different than the first!)

  • TS4123 This is not correct solution. I have fresh copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem.  Autorun only shows the Bonjour service.  It started when try to sync more than one iphone.

This is not correct solution. I have fresh/new copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem.
Autorun only shows the Apple Bonjour service.  It started when try to sync more than one iphone over WiFi. I have two iphones and an iPad. I turned off syncing over WiFi and still has high CPU utilization. One of the CPU's is pegged at 100%.  It is the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe process.

For the record, I then followed the suggestion of MarcDCMB in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4291206 of just manually restarting the Apple Mobile Device service in Windows services.msc once each time after starting iTunes and the service no longer hogs CPU after that service restart.  Not too painful as a work-around, and apparently an effective one, but clearly not a solution to the problem.  Again, as above, all the other solutions didn't work for me and I have no conflicting software as far as I can tell. So you'd have to say this Apple's problem.
Also FTR, I am still on the 5.2.0.6 version of the Apple Mobile Device Support MSI and I don't know if that is relevant to this work-around working but my sense is that it is NOT relevant.  I'll report back on this thread if I re-upgrade and the problem returns in spite of the service-restart approach.

  • How to sync more than one of our iPhones to my iTunes account?

Does anyone know how I can go about syncing my husband's, or my two teens' iPhones to my iTunes account on my iMac so we can share applications I've purchased? I think we're supposed to be able to do that aren't we? I thought up to five computers or five mobile devices on one network (our wireless network) could all sync to one iTunes account? But we aren't able to figure out how.
So far we've paid for Super Monkey Ball twice now because my teen convinced me that I just had to purchase it in my iTunes account, then he'd be able to hook up his iPhone to my computer and get it from me. But that didn't work. So I ended up with a ten dollar app I didn't want, and he had to go to his iTunes account on his computer and buy it again for himself. Now I have many apps I've purchased but would like to share with my family. If I'm wrong and we can't share, then so be it, but I just want to be sure. I've heard more than once recently that we're supposed to be able to share somehow, and not just apps, but most anything we have in iTunes, maybe with a few exceptions.
    Thanks in advance!

Not sure why I haven't gotten any replies? Is the question just stupid, or is it that no one knows the answer? I truly have tried to find out the answer to this question, but everything I've found has been very confusing. Please someone help us figure this out!
    Thank you, Deb
