how do u get movies on your ipod? i hav a 30 gb video ipod, so i can, but i cant figure out how. i've tried looking it up but it says nothing. pls help

First of all what to you mean by Movies? If you mean commercial releases that are issued on DVD, then you have to use software to rip and convert these to an iPod supported video format. There are a number of Windows compatible programs to do this, Video Vault commercial software is one, the free program Videora is another. After that, follow the instructions here to import them to iTunes and your iPod: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ipgettingstartedt12.html

  • How to sync .avi files to iPod touch

I downloaded some.avi files (home movies) pn my MacBook. I watch them with Quicktime.
I would like to be able to put these files on my iPod touch... How do I do that?
    Thanks!

    Hello aclague,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
First, you will have to or can import the video into iTunes. Once you have done that, you will have to convert the video to a more friendly iPod format, because .avi files are not supported by the iPod Touch.
Use can use iTune's built in converter for this. Just control-click on the file and choose "create iPod or iPhone" version from the shortcut menu or select this option from the Advanced drop down menu.
When the video has finished converting, you can sync it to your iPod as long as you have set up your iPod to sync videos. If you haven't done so yet, this article should be able to assist you.

Another option is to use a third party utility such as [MPEG Streamclip|http://www.squared5.com> to convert the videos for you. Once converted, you can imported the newly converted video in iTunes and sync it to your iPod.
    Hope this helps.

connect your iTouch via USB to your computer, wait until iTunes recognizes your device. Then click the "movies" tab and just click the movies you want to watch in your iTouch. Its very simple and not that complicated, once you get the hang of it.

You can sync music to the iPod by connecting it your computer, selecting the iPod on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and then using the Music tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select which of your iTunes music library to sync to it. There are some instructions on syncin music on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351

  • How to sync movies to as audio with iPod shuffle

how do you sync movies from itune as audio to iPod shuffle, any idea?

You can't sync movies with iPod shuffle because the obvious lack of display. You may be able to get only the audio by using software like AoA Audio Extractor. Here's a guide: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-extract-audio-from-movies-and-v ideo-files-easily/. Afterwards you may add the audio file by going to iTunes, then pressing Files, add files, then choose the file you want and it will be added to your music library.

  • How do I sync movies from one iPod touch to another

I'm trying to sync it to my brother's account

You can't transfer directly from one iPod to another, the songs have to be in iTunes and you update your second iPod from there. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved also it was written long before iTunes 7 so it requires a little adaptation as the iPod preferences are no longer in the location described. Also it won't transfer playlists or videos as far as I know. However if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes

"Can you put purchased DVD movies that you have on your ipod? "
No.  breaking the encryption in order to copy them illegal.
" what about recorded DVD's that you have? "
    Add them to itunes.

  • ITunes stopped syncing movies on my iPod Touch

This one is driving me crazy today.
iPod Touch - latest generation. iOS 8.1.
iMac 27 - Yosemite 10.10. All updates current.
    iTunes 12.0.1.26
For a few years now, I've had home videos of my granddaughter on my iPod Touch. About a dozen of them.
Today iTunes stopped syncing those. On the iPod I see some of the icons, but if I try playing the movies, there's nothing there.
Looked at the movies on my iPod Touch through iTunes ... all the movies have a grey, dotted circle on the left of the movie name in iTunes.
I've turned the iPod off, restarted the iMac a few times ... same result. iTunes goes through the sync cycle, no error messages, and then the same result - no movies on my iPod Touch.
I launched Console to see if any errors were reported there - cleared the list, ran the sync - no error messages relating to iTunes appeared in Console. (Many other suspicious entries in Console - mdworker errors etc etc but nothing about iTunes).
What on earth is going on? Any ideas/suggestions on how I can get my movies back on my iPod Touch?
    Thanks

there are quite a few different free programs you could use to convert.. and yes if you convert it to mp4 and added it to your itunes it should sync fine.. here is a good read on ripping/conversion for the ipod.

  • Getting movies onto your ipod

I can't get my premiere elements movies onto my ipod classic (80Gb) - I can drag the movie into i tunes and watch it using itunes, but when I sync my ipod, it says it cannot synchronise the movie - anyone solved this problem?

Depends on how you're doing it, William.
The program will load the file directly to your iPod if you use Share/Mobile Phones and Players and then select iPod from the options.
You mention synchronizing, which seems to imply that you're using iTunes or other software to transfer the video to your device. If so, that could be a lot of issues, including what format of video you've output from Premiere Elements.

  • Syncing DVDs to your iPod Touch

    Hello,
This is my first post on Apple Discussions. I would like to first comment on how supportive and polite this community seems to be, and cannot wait to get active in it.
Apple products are some of the best in my opinion. Innovative, fun, and very usable. You guys are evolving technology in ways no one else has. The work Apple has done on computers, handhelds, and even small accessories have led the path to inspiration and innovation in technology.
Okay, I am done sucking up now, haha. I will move on to my question.
Is it possible for you to sync DVD's, that you have bought at a store, with your iPod Touch? If so, can you use a CD-ROM, or do you need a CD-DVD on your computer? For example, I can take albums I have bought, let's say Elton John's +Songs From the West Coast+, and put them in my CD-ROM and they will automatically add those songs in a database that I can copy to my iTunes which I can sync to my Touch. Is the same possible with DVDs?
There are tons of movies I have bought that I would really like to contribute to my iPod Touch library. Some movies I have on DVD aren't even available in the iTunes Store. Now that is really frustrating.
Please give personal experiences with this, official Apple documentation about this, or any support you can give. I will greatly appreciate it!
Thanks in advance for all support!
    Chase

Well I wasn't planning on ripping, but I bought the DVD, and I am not redistributing it, so shouldn't I be fine?
Is there no way to add it on the Touch without "ripping" it?
And if I can't add a DVD onto my Touch, is there a place where I can suggest videos to be added to the iTunes store.
Thanks for the quick response as well.
