How to Sync my 8900 with my Mac

Can anyone tell me how to get my BB to sync with my Mac. I have 10.4 on my Mac and have sync my BB once to get contacts onto it but, it will not complete a sync update again. It get to contacts and does not go futher. I am using pocketMac and have down loaded updates.

Synchronization with your Outlook requires the Desktop Manager Software which you can install from the CD that came with your smartphone.

How to sync Address Book with multiple macs

What are the methods for having 1 address book and having them synced over multiple macs.
I have:
- 1 iMac (24 inch)
- 1 Powerbook
- 1 iMac (dome)
- 1 iPhone
I'm using all of them (sounds weird, eh?) and I want to be able to have them synced automatically. One update on my iPhone reflects the other Address books.

Agreed, $99 a year seems like a bit much if that's all you want to do.
If you trust web-based free email services like Gmail, you can export your Address Book(s) and those on other platforms and manage it from there.
Downside is that there is apparently NOT an 'export' back at the present time if you decide to change.
So, for now I use MobileMe for the convenience, because $99 a year is easier than wading through three or four different programs and operating systems on multiple platforms.

How to sync iPhone 3G with MacBook (previously syncing with Windows)

Hi, I just bought a my first Mac ever, it the brand new MacBook 13" and so far I'm loving the whole Mac experience. I have a question though. I have an iPhone 3G and until now I sync it with my other Win machine. Everything is ok there. However, I'm now thinking to start using the iPhone with my MacBook but I don't know how to sync the iPhone with the Mac without losing the info I have in the iPhone. I'm not concerned about the apps, music or videos because I know to transfer that kind of info to another machine (i did it already with my iPod touch and the iPod classic and everything went fien, I didn't lose any data in the process). However, with the iPhone I don't want to lose the contacts and the saved SMSs. Can anyone tell me how to sync the iPhone to my Mac easily without losing anything? btw, I have no songs in the iPhone, just one free app (midomi). I heard that I can automatically get the app in any other computer as long as I use the same iTunes account so the server remembers that I "bought" it.

Nah, just sync it with the Windows machine before you begin. Odds on you won't need it, but if you do, then at least it is there.

8900 with Apple Mac

Hi - does anyone out there have experience of using the new 8900 in conjunction with a Mac computer ? I have always used a PC and MS Office software (Outlook) for syncing etc. I am thinking of getting a Mac and would like to hear of any issues before I go ahead. Thanks in advance for any advice.

My experience has always been poor with syncing my 8900 with the Mac, using either Pocket Mac or the Missing Sync software. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Not too bad for me right now because I use Google sync for all contacts & calendars.
Plus you cannot do an update of the Blackberry OS on a Mac unless you run some type of VM like Parallels or VMWare Fusion. I think RIM will soon provide some alternatives like OTA updates and desktop manager for Mac(hopefully by the summer).

Connect your phone to computer, and sync like this. Check the boxes for the playlists, artists, albums you want to sync. Then click Apply. If you have enough space on your phone, you can choose Entire music library.

Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

thats not what i mean - the songs are all in my itunes library on the computer but if i click the itunes icon on the phone they are also trying to download here - all i need to know is how do i stop this as when i go anywhere without broadband its eating my data allowance!!!!

How to sync Address book with iphone on 10.5, while iphone synced with iCloud?

My mac runs leopard 10.5.8. Meanwhile iPhone is updated to 5.1. and synced with iCloud. As we know, OS X 10.5 can not be synced with iCloud. How to sync Address book with iphone? My Address Book on my mac has almost all contacts that can be found on my iPhone. Even with pictures from FB and extra info such as twitter accounts, etc.
The question is - how can I manage my contacts? Now I have added several new entries to my iPhone, but they won't appear on mac's address book. In iTunes the contacts sync box is unchecked due to the fact that iPhone syncs with iCloud. But then I'm wondering where did Address Book get all the contact updates that were made on iPhone?
I'd like to control this whole thing. And is there such thing as one data base, that could used by all devices and would change entries on all of them, if I change or add something on my iPhone?
Or I just have to get Lion and let the iCloud do the magic?

I just synced my new iPhone (iOS 5.0.1) with the Address Book on my Mac which runs 10.5.8 and iTunes 10.5.2. I launched iTunes and then I connected the iPhone to the Mac. It appeared on the DEVICES list in the left column in iTunes. I selected it and then the Summary screen appeared in the right part of the iTunes window.
In the Backup section of the Summary you can choose whether to 'Back up to iCloud' or 'Back up to this computer'. Even if you have 'Back up to iCloud' selected, there is a 'Sync' button in the bottom right hand corner of the iTUnes window where you can manually initiate a sync with the Mac.

Working on that now. I'm just getting frustrated that everytime I run updates for the phone I end up with tech problems that I have to spend time solving as opposed to updates that actually improve my usage. Absolutely, connect each phone, select what content you want on each phone, then hit the sync button. iTunes will keep everything straight, by device, upon subsequent syncs, including separate backups.

I can sync all my contacts from the Mac address book on my MacBook Pro to my iPhone 4. However, why does it not sync the iPhone contacts to the Mac address book? Should it not be like a two way sync? I was looking at the syncing options but it does give that option. I just want to make sure that I have the same contacts on my iPhone and Mac. I do understand that MobileMe does that. But till I can afford to have MobileMe, maybe there is another solution?

I had a major drama doing this last night, have managed to restore my Address Book file with a backup after I mistakenly wiped all the contacts I had created on my iPhone. Yikes! I suggest when you sync your iPhone leave it plugged in after the sync until you check that the contacts are all where they should be. That way, the most recent backup that is done automatically when you plug in the iPhone will still have all your iPhone contacts should something go amiss and they can be restored. Also export your computer's Address Book (File>Export in Address Book) which should land in your Documents folder.
To get all my iPhone's contacts back into my Mac's Address Book, I created a group in my Mac Address Book called 'iPhones contacts'. When I synced the iPhone with my Mac, (Info tab>Sync Address Book Contacts in iTunes), I checked the box that says 'Add contacts created outside of groups on this iPhone to...' and checked the new 'iPhone contacts' group and when I synced, all the new contacts on the iPhone landed in my Mac's Address Book. Phew. Heartstopper!
