How to sync my music

I just got another computer and I want to sync my music to this one. I used to use the "family computer" and now I just want to use my own. There was this message that kept popping up saying that the ipod can only sync with one computer, and do i want to delete all my music off my ipod to sync to this computer. Well it was getting annoying so I clicked don't show this message again. Now, I need to delete all the music off my iPod because everything on itunes is settled and such and I don't know how to do that. When I try hitting the sync button, it won't sync anything onto my ipod. I added a new song just to check and it didn't work. So how can I sync my ipod to another computer

  • How to sync Computer music to Iphone? Answer is in thread

How to Sync computer music to Iphone:
I found a way for you to transfer your, Personal added/Purchased songs without any hassle to your "I" product. Just follow these steps:
Go to your computer/mac's iTunes program, Go to the top left screen to see a little box, Click on it
    Hover over Library
    Click, "Turn On Home Sharing"
Then it will bring you to a page
    Then enter your credentials
    Then click apply
Once you have done that, Switch over to your "I" product. (Easiest to use is the Iphone) And then follow these steps also:
    Go to Settings
Then scroll down a little and click, "iTunes & App Store"
Once you are there, make sure you are logged into your apple account
Then go to, "SHOW ALL" and swipe Music and Videos to the right (which is on)
Then scroll down to, "AUTOMATIC DOWNLOADS"
Swipe all of them to on
Then swipe, "Use Cellular Data" to on (Only if you would like to do that, I have it on)
Once that is done, Go to the home screen. Then follow these steps:
    Go to the Music app
Then you should see 3 "***" Or dots with More under it, tap on that (its at the bottom right of the screen)
You should see, Albums, Genres, Compilations, Composers and Shared
    Tap on Shared
You should then see at the top of the list your phone name or ID
Then you should see some other name, That name should be the name (to find it out go to Network on your computer in the folder program, and click on your computers name, then users, then you should see, Public, Default, Default.migrated (<-- I don't know where this one came from but) and then one more, That will be the one you will see on your phone)
Tap on the one that I just explained
    Go to Songs
Your music from your computer will be there, If you have more than a certain amount, It will be placed in categories for easier searching.
I hope that helped anybody looking to find this out.

Good luck. I want to know too. Obviously you cannot download iOS6. The only surefire way I know is to not buy music from the iTunes store. I asked this once before and some guy just wanted to argue about what the iCloud was and if music is there. I just want the music that I specifically tell to be on my phone -- to stay on my phone.

  • How to sync contacts, music, and movies from iPhone to new mac and unsync from old PC?

Hi, I know this question has been asked a lot but for some reason I could not get a clear understanding of what everyone was talking about and my situation might be a tad different.
So I already had an iPhone that was synced to my dell PC. I just got a new macbook pro retina and now I'm trying to transfer my contacts, movies, and music to my mac from my iPhone. However I keep getting a message that says if I sync to this mac then all of my stuff will be deleted from my iPhone. (I am now aware that they mean only iTunes content, but those are still important to me). I still own my PC but there is no way I can connect my PC and Mac together. Is there a way possible that I could "unsync" my iPhone to my PC and sync it to the Mac without erasing the stuff from my iPhone? Are there other methods of syncing my iPhone to my new mac? My last question is that is it possible to transfer purchases from my mac to my iPhone even if it is or isn't synced to the PC or erased of content?
Hopefully this sounds coherent, and thank you all in advance for your help. I'm new to all of this and I really appreciate your time.

It is designed so syncing is one way only (with the exception of iTunes Store purchases) computer to phone.  You need to transfer the library from the old computer to the new one so the phone is syncing back to the same library it used to or else it will request you erase the phone.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive.  Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes.  At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.
You can use  flash drive for copying, breaking it down into chunks if necessary but making sure they get re-assembled correctly again.
If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

  • How to sync iPhone music from 2nd Mac? (don't read this if you own 1 Mac)

If you don't own two Macs, please don't try answering this post with guesses. I need to find someone with real world experience to solve this problem:
My contacts and Calendar are on my laptop. My music and videos are on a Mac Pro. I have disabled automatic sync on both Macs. I have unchecked music and video on the laptop and unchecked the contacts and calendar on the Mac Pro, yet everytime I sync to the laptop, it deletes my entire music library without warning. With video, it gives me a warning when I uncheck but no choice other than to delete video or use what's on the laptop.
There seems to be no way to keep the music and video that I sync-loaded from the Mac Pro.
Interestingly, when I do sync to the Mac Pro, it leaves the contacts and calendars from the laptop alone.
So how do I achieve the same for syncing music and video from one machine only without the other erasing it.
Please don't guess at solutions here. I want to get an answer from someone who has actually succeeded in doing this.
    Thanks!

I absolutely am not trying to combine two iTunes library! I thought this was clear so allow me to clarify in no uncertain terms.
Mac Pro contain all my music and video media.
Laptop contains all my contacts and calendar.
Both iTunes have the automatic sync disabled.
The Mac Pro boxes for music and video are checked and none other.
The laptop boxes for contacts and calendar are checked and none other.
In another post, "Qsilver" says it will work, but my experience (and other folks experience) is that when I go to the laptop, all media files are dropped even though the media is unchecked on that machine.
Apparently the jury is still out on whether this can be done or not, so I'm leaving this post open for further discussion.

  • How to sync purchased music from an iPhone without SIM card?

    Hello,
I have an iPhone 3GS, which I used, till I got a new iPhone 4.
Meanwhile it was working for my girlfriend as "iPodtouch". Yesterday I was able to have my cellular network provider to remove the sim lock, so that the iPhone 3GS is now again able to be used as cell phone.
Meanwhile my girlfriend purchased music at iTunes. I want to sync the iPhone 3GS to iTunes, but it always say "no sim card installed" The only way wold be to go thru the lock free procedure to sync, but that will delete all content on that phone. (including the purchased music)
    My question now is:
How can I sync an iPhone 3GS to iTunes, without the SIM card installed?
    Thank you for your trouble.
    Henning

    Open itunes.
    Connect iphone.
Look at the top of your computer screen for the word "File" .  Click it.
    Then click "Transfer Purchases"

  • I have a gen 1 ipad and i  updated to the io5 and need to know how to sync my music videos please

now some of my apps dont have sound. is there a way to fix it ...thanks

The video side of the music video may be in the Videos App. Look for it there.
If you don't have app sounds - read this .....
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • How to sync my music from my ipod with my new hard drive without any lose my music on my ipod?

Bonjour, hi, I have a question. My hard drive broke and I lost all my music when I reconnect my iPod, iTunes tells me that if I sync with my ipod, I lost all the music on my ipod ... and replace my music with the music on iTunes (I have no music on iTunes). What can i do?
    Thanks you.

Restore the media on the new computer using the backup of your media from your old computer.
The iPod, like all iDevices is not a storage device, it is merely a mirror of the content in your iTunes library.
    If not backup exists:
On the new computer, sign into your iTunes account and Authorize the computer.
Cconnect the iPod but do not sync.
    Select File > Transfer purchases.
Any media not purchased from iTunes or ripped from CD's will be lost, but at least you will retain your iTunes purchases.

  • How to sync shuffle music to my Mac

I load songs to my shuffle from a windows computer, now it's broken then I got my Macbook Pro. But I can't sync those songs to my Mac iTunes, is there any way to do it? confused. those songs are important for me. Thanks a lot !

Trenk21, I can't make that decision for you, but in order to use iCloud and sync your iCloud calendar with your Mac, you need to run Lion and you need to update it to 10.7.2. Before you install Lion, do some due research first. Check to verify that all the apps you use are Intel-based because PowerPC apps are not compatible with Lion. Likewise, check to make sure all the devices you use (e.g., external disk drives, scanners, printers, track pad, etc.) are Lion compatible.
I can tell you that I am running Lion on my MacPro (circa 2006), my 2-year old iMac, and my fairly brand new MacBook Pro and it works well on all of them.

  • How to sync the music to my iphone without erasing?

I got a new laptop and download itunes, and now I downloaded these songs and I want to put them on my iphone from my new laptop but it keeps telling me that my library would be erased and these stuff, I tried backing up, transfering purchases from my iphone and authrizing the computer but I still get that same ****** alert. help please. I need to have these songs on my iphone without deleteing the old ones in less than 2 hours. Thanks in advance

The iPhone will synch with ONLY ONE iTunes library at a time.  If you have a new computer, you need to move all the songs from the old computer to the new one.  If you didn't save the songs from the old computer and the songs weren't purchased using iTunes, then you're out of luck.  It's your responsibility to maintain your digital music files.

Sorry, but that is correct. You need Snow Leopard to sync your phone and the latest version of iTunes and you old G5 cannot run that.
