How to sync notes between iphone 3.1 and mail.app 4.1

Ok, I keep reading in circles and I guess I'll just ask my questions in order...
1. Can I sync mail.app and iphone notes via mobileme?
2. I see a option for notes in preferences/mobileme and it's checked, what should this do?
3. What notes should be getting sync'd? On My Mac? account based notes?
4. I want these sync'd with the iphone notes app, not a notes imap folder in the email account, is this the way it should be working?
I've tried 101 things to check, uncheck, reset, reboot, etc...

The only way to sync Notes is through a mail server. If you don't want to use iCloud, you'll have to use some other mail account, or run your own mail server under OS X Server. The latter is a job for advanced users only.

So, my DNS is comming from my ISP. It's the same list of IP addresses for all our other devices that are working: 2 PC's 2 Laptops, a PS3 and a WII, an iPhone 3gs running IOS 5.0 and an iPhone 4 running IOS 5.0.
The ONLY two devices that are having issues are my iPhone 3gs running IOS 5.0.1 and my iPad 2 running IOS 5.0.1.

You mean take the cover off of the iPhone, to look inside? I'd recommend against it. Even with warranty expired, you might qualify for an out-of-warranty service, which for 3GS is $149.
Other than that, any repair/service options are going to cost money. You might want to see if a wireless carrier will let you get a new contract & phone.
Out of curiousity, you're just using at as, basically, an iPod Touch, if there's no cell provider? Did I understand that correctly?

I'm still using MobileMe, but I will stop soon.
I'm using my iPhone in India a lot to create new events or to add new contacts. At the end of the day I would like to able to sync it with my MacBookPro without using MobileMe. Internet Connection is often very bad in that area. The iPhone I only use without UMTS and all that Data Transfering stuff. Best for me would be to sync directly by wire or Bluetooth if possible. If you have a solution with and without Internet Connection, that would be very helpfull to me.

On the Mac, in iTunes with iPhone attached, click on the iPhone section. Go to the "info" tab. There you will see a list of items that can be synced. Make sure that "sync addressbook contacts" is checked, along with the appropriate choices under it.
Don't know what else to say, it works fine here.

How do I sync Notes between iPhone and Macbook, preferably using a cable?

I was running Lion before I upgraded to Mavericks. I would sync notes via iTunes using a cable.
My understanding is that you have to use WiFi and iCloud with Mavericks, which if true is a really dumb limitation and a problematic one. I do not have WiFi at home and often not when traveling. But I do have a cable and my Macbook.
Is there no way to sync Notes with a cable?

At a standstill on a solution so I retried other suggestions I have found on various threads. I have done this specific process multiple times but luckily this time it worked. What helped was - on MBP went to Settings > iCloud then unchecked Notes. Said ok to delete Notes from MBP (my most recent version is on my iPhone). Waited about 5 min then went back to Settings > iCloud checked Notes, said ok to merge and now my Notes on iPhone and MBP are the same. Will have to see what happens. I had my phone connected to MBP vis USB and used wireless during process. Hope this helps with your problem also.

I've read all the forums I can about this, but can't seem to find the answer.
I want to sync my notes between my Iphone 3GS and my Macbook Pro. Right now when I add a note in my Iphone it automatically is added in my mail account in the Macbook.
However, if I add a note in the Macbook, it does not get added to my Iphone.
I'd like it to go both ways. Is this possible?

The issue is with configuring your iPhone. I personally gave up trying to make it work.

When using iOS 6 and its updates, it would seem that Sample downloads from iBooks would sync automatically between my devices - iPhone 5 and iPad 3. Now that I have iOS 7(.0.4 on both) this does not happen even though the same 'switches' are enabled in the iBooks settings. Nor are PDF files on one device synced to the other. 1. Go to Settings -> iCloud
2. Log in there with your Apple ID.

Like many other people i have set up both my iphone and my Macbook Pro 13' on the same icloud account and yet my contacts on my phone are not transfering over to my computer propperly? Depends how you sync. If using iCloud, set it in the iCloud settings on the phone. If syncing with iTunes, set in on the Info page of your divice in iTunes

Issues with iCloud - syncing Notes between iPhone and Macbook

Why won't my Notes sync between my Macbook Pro (Mountain Lion) and my iPhone 5? The iPhone and the Macbook Pro are both linked to the same account, iCloud is turned on on both, and I've tried signing in and out of iCloud.com, but it doesn't seem to work.

First check that all your settings are correct, that notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the notes you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by checking in accounts on an iOS device, or the left side panel in mail on a computer), non iCloud notes will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your notes are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling notes syncing.

My iPhone5 (IOS 7.1) and iMac (OS X Mavericks 10.9.2) are both set up to share Notes through my iCloud account (which works just fine with Calendar and Contacts). The same email address and password are used in both places. On both, the default account for Notes is iCloud.

i experiment the same problem.
Although i've done all the cleanings adviced by RHab nothing synchronize with the iPad but everything is fine with the iphone, that 's so strange !
I've got my notes on my Mac, on my iPhone, on icloud.com and everything synchronizes.
But despite the same settings on the iPhone and on the iPad there's any notes on the iPad app.
There must be something i miss
