How to sync two firefox profiles, everything except localstore.rdf

Yesterday, I asked about linking cache between two firefox profiles:

And I got to thinking. The only reason I'm even making a second profile is to have two "saved window locations" for multi-monitor purposes. I want these profiles to be EXACTLY the same except for the location in which they are opened (which is saved in localstore.rdf). It occurred to me that with my current setup in the above thread, even though the caches are now linked.. I will still have to change bookmarks twice. Have two different histories, saved passwords, etc. All minor inconveniences at best, but it would still be nice to avoid them!
Like I said, I want these profiles identical except for the locations in which they are opened. I know there are extensions for syncing profiles, but they all seem to be 1 star performance hindering messes. I'd rather do it manually, as I did with the cache. Possible?

I do not know enough to give a proper answer but some comments that may help:
I am not sure I follow what you ask. Is the saved Windows location you are interested in the coordinates and size of the Window that Firefox view opens in ?
I have never worked with [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Localstore.rdf localstore.rdf], but I have often manually edited [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profiles.ini_file profiles.ini] which points to the profile, that in turn contains the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Places.sqlite places.sqlite] (bookmarks and history database) and your cache.
If you are interested in the cachecontents:
* use about:cache
* note there are addons that help with viewing cache content
I am not too clear on what you are doing. If you use ''-no-remote'' and start up a Firefox instance with a particular profile then that sees the same bookmarks as any other instance or version of Firefox started with the same profile, but a profile can not be opened twice simultaneously by Firefox. (My understanding of what you say in the other thread is that you have no problem with that.)
Rather clunky and slow, but you could consider writing simple DOS batch files that will modify commandlines or copy files as part of launching Firefox.

Thanks Corel. The computer I use at work is the one I'm having problems on. I also do work at home (where I am now) so I also have two Firefox profiles set up on my home computer. On my home computer when I updated the first profile both profiles updated, so I know it SHOULD work that way. On my work computer I did do the Help, About, version check and it told me I had the older version and needed to update, ran me through the update process but still the second profile was not updated. I will try the other two links, if the computer will let me since I'm not an administrator on it. That probably won't be until Monday. I don't really want to bug our director about it because she is so busy. I know that the Shockwave Flash and Java Plugins are outdated but they require administrator privileges to do. Something else I just thought of, every time I start that second profile at work it was saying Firefox was not my default browser, did I want to make it the default browser, I would agree, but still it would happen the next time. When I go into Tools, Options and look, it says Firefox IS my default browser. I finally told it not to check each time it starts. I don't know if this is connected to my original issue or not. The easiest least complicated way to keep your info and her info seperate and not worry about things is to take advantage of user profiles on your computer (in XP)...so each of you log into XP with your own accounts, thus iTunes (and any other software like mail, etc) all have your own settings.
Otherwise, you will have to watch which account is logged into iTunes Store (click store and see what name is up top right in case you both have different accounts)...and make sure you are logged in with the right account before syncing. iTunes does know the difference between your phones so each can setup different settings of what to sync to, but your library on your computer will be mixed unless you do what I said first, use different profiles (user logins) for XP.

How can I transfer Firefox profile from One user to another on my pc (win XP)

At work I'm using Firefox as my default browser.
In my company the IT administrator installed new system s/w on companys main server and changed the user names.
So now firefox lost all the information (profile) I already had on my pc.
Now in "C:\Documents and Settings\" folder I have 2 users.
One with the old user name and one with the new user name
Also I can not any longer login in my pc with the old user name because the administrator has changed also the domain name.
How can I transfer the profile I had (with lot's of usefull bookmarks etc) from the old user-name to the new user-name?

How can I prevent Firefox profiles from becoming large and taking up space on the C drive for each user?

I have many users logged into a Windows Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Server (Terminal Server) and all of them use Firefox. Each one of their profiles get very large due to their Firefox profiles.
Seems that all the space being taken up by the cache folder. (C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Profile.default\Cache)
Is there a way to enforce a policy within the program to clear the cache for each user either each time the browser is closed or when the user logs off?

when you lock the preferences with the mozilla.cfg file in the firefox program folder as it's described in the mozillazine kb article above, it should apply for all users...

It sounds that you may have deleted the Firefox profile folder, but forgot to delete the profiles.ini file as well.<br />
So you need to delete the profiles.ini file as well.

Hi All, I currently have a two year old 15" Macbook Pro that isn't too well Odd things have been happening whilst I've been away from home and unfortunately Support so far has not been able to fix my challenge. I'm using the Macbook in "safety" mode as suggested by the support team until I can re-install the operating system to see if this fixes my challenge. However my last correspondence with Apple looks as if I may have to return it for service. Given my isolated location (an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean) I could well be without this Mac for weeks.
However.. I am considering a new 13" Retina Macbook for travelling and as a back up considering my current problems, hence my question; How do I sync both laptops so they both have exactly the same software, folders etc etc. I use Photoshop and Lightroom, so it is imperative that my Lightroom Catologues are up to date and correct. Then I can happily send this one away for service?
This is what happens to my screen using the Mac in standard mode. Not only do I get this type of screen, I also have totally black, blue with vertical darker blue lines, total lock up, cursor wont move, all require a manual shut down and reboot. Then if I continue trying standard, I sometimes don't have a dock or the dock disappears below the frame, or again the cursor doesn't move or the cursor becomes a vertical line with 12 horizontal lines.
Back to my original question; is there a software or something to syncronise both computers like you can on a PC using Microsoft Briefcase.

It seems to me that you have correctly determined that it makes sense to only publish an identical calendar from one of the computers.
After appropriately backing up your calendars, you might want to consider Resetting .Mac Sync. It appears as if both of your computers are using 10.4.6, but just in case..."If you sync between computers with different versions of Mac OS X, try to reset the sync data from the computer with Mac OS X 10.4, if possible."
Make sure that "Synchronize my calendars with other computers using .Mac is checked in the General Preference of the iMac.

Use Windows Media Player ?to sync. Each device has it's own sync properties. What you are trying to do is a feature of that software. I do not use the Creative software at all...only the Zencast Organizer (as I needed a podcast aggregator anyway).
