How to Synchronize Mac to Server to make file "Always Available Offline"?

In windows this feature keeps files available while on travel and automatically synchronizes on return when hooked up to corporate network.
Is this available for Mac?

Hi I believe you have the wrong forum.
This forum is for the Agile PLM for Process product suite, not for the Agile A9 suite. For Agile A9 or Primavera questions, you can use Oracle Support, Support Communities, Yahoo Groups for Agile API or WRAU.
This forum is for Agile PLM for Process, which is part of the same Agile family but a different product.
Thanks.

Create a class that holds the reference to the file and do the whole file manipulation just in that class. than synchronize the read and write methodes. A reference to this file handler class can be stored to the servlet context in one servlet and read out from the servlet context in the other servlet.

  • How to use Mac Mini Server as media server

I recently purchased a Mac Mini Server and want to make it my media center accessed by my TV.
This is what I have on my network:
    1x Mac Book Pro
    3x Mac Books
    4x iPhones (2x iPhone 4, 2x iPhone 3Gs)
    1x iPad
    1x 1TB external Drive
    1x Time Capsule 500 Gig
I want to figure out a way to easily put all the Video/Photos and Music onto the Mac Mini Server from all phones, computers and iPad.  I then want to be able to watch them from my TV.
I then want all the devices to be able to see the videos/photos from them in real time if needed.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    Darren

iCloud when available later this year will help a lot. However in the mean time the only option is to either
sync all the iPhones/iPads to their computers
copy all the libraries on to your Mac mini and then import them in to the master library
login via file sharing to each computer and then import them in to the master library
use FireWire Target Disk mode and import them in to the master library

  • How to upgrade Mac mini server Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion

Trying to upgrade Mac mini server running Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. I downloaded Mountain Lion and about to install but a warning prompt tells me server functionality will be lost until server.app is applied. What is involved in doing that?

What's involved?  Buy and load OS X Server; that's now a Mac App Store app.
    That'll get you Server.app.
Server.app is the GUI tool that is used to manage recent versions of OS X Server, along with (increasingly) the command line management of the features that are not exposed through the Server.app tool.

  • Help Setting up Mac Mini Server for Printer/File Sharing to Windows comp.

Hi, so in our office, we decided only to switch half of the office to macs for budgetary reasons. We purchased the mac mini server to replace the 5,000 year old one and have also gotten to macbooks and a mac mini. My other two co-workers unfortunately still are using two windows vista machines. We have important documents on the server hard drive and they also need our OLD ACT! database to access from it and I have not been able to get them to access the hard drive. Can someone please walk me through these steps? Also, ideally we want to be able to access this servers hard drive when we are out of the office and edit word documents and such, but I also have not been able to do that or make that work. Any help in these areas would be greatly appreciated!

If you use a different login name for the network account to your existing local account then the local account will not be affected. You might want to transfer the contents of your existing local account to the new network account. To do this you could try the following
    Create new network account
    Login using old local account
Now while logged in using old local account - connect to the File Server
    Enter the new login details
It should hopefully list the Share that stores your new network account, complete the connection
You should now have the Share mounted, copy the contents of your local account to the corresponding location in your new network account
Note: The Library folder in your home directory contains all your settings
Once complete logout of the old local account
Try logging in to the new account
In terms of limitations, it is going to be slower than a local account because it has to go across the network, and some badly written applications may have some issues but most will be fine.
At this stage your local account has not yet been deleted so if you have problems you can revert to it.

  • There was a problem connecting to the server "my server.local" this file is available on your computer. Access the files and volumes locally.

    Hi,
I have a strange problem connecting one of the office laptops (Macbook Pro 10.7) to the disk in the Apple Time Capsule.  It's just one laptop that has this problem and the other 3 no problems at all and they all run OS X 10.7 Lion, I can access the Time Capsule disk over WAN on all machines but locally on the problem machine i get this message "There was a problem connecting to the server "myserver.local" this file is available on your computer. Access the files and volumes locally."   Now from this message it sounds like the problem laptop thinks the network drive (Time Capsule) is the same as it's self in the way of name or address however they clearly have different IP addresses locally.
Any ideas on this would be apreciated as I can only think a clean install but don't want to do this if not necessary.
    Thanks
    Jarrah

I think I gave you some bad info in the above, where i enterered the text "myserver.local" & "example.local" this was the host name of the server (Time Capsule) so not local on the computer.
No i didn't try your method, I'll give it a go - I thought the folder option was for local files and not on a server ?

  • How to uninstall mac os server

i tried to delete my mac server cause i cannot make groups on the server... but when i delete the server.app and install the server app nothing happen, there are the same information at the server... please help me

    Hi
Its been some time since I and probably most of the guys on these forums have used 10.2 but I think the procedure is the same for when you uninstall any client OS.
Boot from your 10.2 Installer disk, proceed to the part that selects the drive, select Options, select Archive and Install. You should get a further option to either preserve network users and settings or not.
If you preserve Network users and Settings after the reinstall and on successful log in you should see a folder created called Previous Systems. It should be safe to delete this. If you don't preserve network users and settings then on reboot the mac will present you with the Client Setup Assistant and walk you through initially configuring the mac for first use. It should remind you of the first time you purchased the mac and took it out of its box. You should still see the Previous Systems folder but this time don't be tempted to delete it. Within this folder will be the previous admin account's home folder. This folder will retain things like mail, mail settings and other important settings that you may need. Also anything else saving in your Documents folder as well as the Desktop will be there not forgetting iTunes, iMovie and iPhoto stuff.
When the operating system is OS X Server the situation is slightly different. You don't get the option to archive and install. It will either upgrade an existing version of the OS, either client or server, install for the first time, or erase and install.
    Hope this helps, Tony

  • Multiplayer game: how to synchronize client and server

Hi there, I'm wondering how to synchronzie client's and server's frame number?
I have a multiplayer spaceship(2D) game running at constant 30 FPS, since I use "frame number" to determine if a packet is too late or not, so I would like to have server and client both start frame 1 at the same time, but I have no idea how to do so, can anyone give me a hint?
well, if you want more details(may not be too much relevant to my problem, but any way, for anyone who interested):
I use UDP(my teammate implemented a TCP version, it's working but TCP is just way too stupid, lagging and some unknown problems produce very funny result). So far, on client side, input(key strokes) is sent via network immediately, but processed 2 frames later locally. So on lan, server will likely get the packet before it's time to process it, thus solve the packet delay problem a little bit).
Example: If user pressed fire button at frame 5, it's sent immediately to server, then at frame 7, client engine processes this "fire" event, and likely, server will get this packet at frame 6 or 7, then it can just processes it in time as well.
So there's a problem, server and client must both running the same frame number at the same time(maybe not exact, but gotta be very close).
By the way, I need some suggestions implementing the server, my brain hurts just thinking about it, I hope I will never have to code network stuff again: Server runs at 30FPS(but only broadcast game state at 6FPS), it just sit there between frame 1~4, get all packets and store them, then between frame 4~5, processes all the packets recieved, then broadcast the result(game state), client recieves it, will treat this game state as "correct game state for frame 5". I use this way because it solves packet delay and out of order packet to some extend.
However, say, if server broadcasts the game state for frame 5 at frame 5, then client is likely to recieve it at frame 7 or even later, how can client use it?
So, together, if you have suggestion or solution for my server and client implementation, please let me know, thanks heaps. I'm in quite a desperation at the moment.
P.S: I also posted this synchronizing problem at the socket programming forum, hope you guys (and girls) dont mind, since this is a place talking about game, that is a place talking about network, so I thought might be good to have suggestions from people in different programming area.

Why does the client need to have the same frame number as the server? I think a good way to do it would be as follows:
    - Client sends all of the user's commands to the server (i.e. accellerate left, accellerate right, start firing, etc).
    - Server processes these to update game state and every so often sends updates to the clients, saying something like "at frame 7, user X is at (10, 10) and user Y is at (20,20) and firing south".
    - Clients process all updates from the server, as long as it hasn't seen any update from a later time yet. So if it recieves the update from time 10 before the update from time 9, it only does the one from time 10. It tries to move things smoothly, taking into average time between updates (if there are 100 ms between updates and on the next frame, user X should move 10 units, then move 1 unit every 10 ms).
By the way, it is possible to use TCP in games. Most MMORPG games use it. I don't know whether it's fast enough for a spaceship game, but it might be worth trying to fix the code you have. Try to keep packets small (use bytes for event type codes, player numbers, etc), group multiple events into one packet if they are all available at the same time, flush() the output stream as soon as you send one, and don't use a buffered stream or reader when reading them.

  • How to setup mac mini server (no optical drive)

It's the Oct 2009 A1283 version.  This has no optical drive.
What options do I have short of buying an external DVD rom drive?
I have other imacs and air's.  Can I use one of their drives to reinstall the mini?  What kind of cable do I need?  FW800 <-->  FW800?

I'm putting the orig os that came with it... 10.6.8.
I found the manual online, and found I could do a remote OS install from another imac in Utilities... never saw that app before!
    Anyway, thanks!
If there is another option, however, I would be interested in learning... please let me know.
    Thanks

  • Offline Files, not available offline after server 2008 R2 upgrade

I have a few users on Windows 7 Enterprise. They have their H (home) drive "Always Available Offline". If we check the offline files folder they show up. If the user shuts down, takes their laptop off the network, starts up and logs back in, the
offline copy of the H: does not show up like it did before.   If I unc into the path where the H is, I can get to it or if I run the log in script. (note: only the files that had Always available offline show up). This tells me the files sync and wre
copied to the client machine, it's just not "mapping" the offline drive for the user like it use to.
I've gone as far as to completely wipe one of the laptops (with users permission of course) and re-install everything, all updates and it still happens. I am begging to think it is something with the servers but the Sys admin doesn't think so. I am at loss
    of what to try next.

Glad to hear it is solved, thanks for sharing your solution and experience here.

  • Mac Mini Server Snow Leopard Help {connecting remotely}

    Hi,
I just purchased a MacMini SnowLeopard server. I admit to not know all that much about setting up a network but I am pretty well versed in other osx matters. anyway...
My primary use for the server is file sharing between three offices (chicago / new york / atlanta). I connected a monitor and a keyboard, set up the mac mini, installed server admin software on my machine and was able to connect locally. Hes where I get lost - Now i am not local to the server and I am not sure how to connect. Sorry if this is some elementary stuff, its my first time.
Is there a comprehensive guide / pdf to setting up the MacMini Server?
    thanks in advance
    Josh

I'm at home so this will be a rough draft to get you started. OSX supports FTP. You can enable FTP under the sharing tab in preference. When everything is set up properly you should be able to read and write files to the server for others to access. Now, if you want actual desktop access to the server from those machines you will want something like Team Viewer.
    For scenario 1, goto http://www.macinstruct.com/node/152 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1549
The first link shows you how to set up dynadns which will make your device available even if your IP changes. The other link shows you how to set up FTP and user accounts in os x 10.5 +
Hope this is enough to get you started to where you can do it on your own.
