How to system restore with cyberlink recovery manager without reformatting whole hard drive?

hi. i got a hp g42-200 notebook pc. i have cyberlink recovery disk. after creating disk i deleted recovery partition and make 4 extra partition. but when my notebook got virus and freezing i try to recover with recovery disk. my problem solved but my whole hard disk reformated. i try all 3 opption. system restore, factory reset and minimized install. how can system restore without deleting user created partition?

so what exactly is not working? is it not prompting you?

Here's an alternative option you can use.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook - ie Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here. These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

How do I restore all of my data to a newly installed hard drive from my time machine backup? Thanks

I had to replace my hard drive, I am new to restoring the data from the time machine. Is there anywhere that the steps are clearly articulated as I am not that versed in this kind of stuff? Thanks for responding.

As far as I'm concerned, the ONLY way to do this is to connect your macbook to your time capsule via Ethernet and restart it holding down the COMMAND-R keys.
This will take you to a restore prompt which will boot from your time capsule. The restore will then be a complete and up to date version of your old hard disk.
Don't even bother with older boot disks. I wished I got this advice from the many enquiries I made over two days! Restore took 2.5 hours.
Only found out about command R by a random google search late at night. So anybody replacing their hard drive and restoring from a time machine backup - do this!

HP Recovery Manager won't recognize new hard drive

I have a HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14-b173cl Sleekbook. I purchased a new hard drive and I have ordered a usb recovery kit from HP.
Howevery, when I try to run the recovery manager, it gives the message no hdd.
Also, if I try and do a hard drive check, it says not installed. It does not detect the hdd. However, if I put back the original hdd and run the recovery manager, it does recognized it and allows to start the recovery process.
Can anyone help me with this issue? Why does the laptop does not recognize the new hard drive?

How do i restore my phone using the ipsw from an external hard drive

I am currently deployed to Afghanistan and don't have very good signal. One of the guys thought it would be funny to change my passcode, and then forgot it. Now my phone is disabled, and the computer I used to set it up is in the states. The signal here is too week to download the Iphone update software via iTunes(keeps losing signal partway through and restarting the download). Its 802MB so I spend seven hours at the computer lab to download the ipsw to an external hard drive. I used the instruction I found via google to restore the phone, and its not working. Itunes keeps trying to download it again. Not sure how to make itunes read the downloaded version. Also its not my computer, so I logged into my apple ID on his itunes. Does this create part of the problem. When unzipping the file some of the files were encrypted. Maybe thats part of the problem?
Please help if you can.

If you have already got the ipsw file, (assuming that it's a latest version or the version on your iPhone at least), you can try the following:
If you are using a Windows 7 PC:
Go to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
If you are using a Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
If you are using Mac:
~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/[can't recall the folder name]
Once you locate this folder, copy the ipsw file to this location. Then try to restore your iPhone.

Running Windows 7 64-bit on 650gb drive.
Error: "The system media does not support this computer. You are not able to restore this system with the media."
I'm about to order the recovery discs from HP and with any luck be able to bring this laptop back to factory conditionn with all the correct partitions and sizes after I format the hard drive.

Yes our recovery disks will return your unit to the factory state. All the software that came with the unit will be reinstalled. Whatever you added you will have to reinstall.

Restoring a Data Backup Made With HP Recovery Manager - Recovery Manager has Since Been Removed

My system (Pavilion dm4 notebook, Win 7 Home Premium x64)) is working fine but I would like to restore a data backup made with HP Recovery Manager. HP Recovery Manager has since been removed from the system and I do not have a recovery disk. I tried installing sp45415 which supposedly runs a silent installer for Recovery Manager, but it silently fails on my system. The accompanying notes say it is applicable to Windows 7 computers and to Pavilion dm1 and dm3. There is no mention of the dm4. Is there some trick to getting sp45415 to run correctly? Is there somewhere I can download an installation package for HP Recovery Manager that works on the Pavilion dm4? Is there any other tool that can restore the backup made by HP Recovery Manager? If you uninstalled Recovery Manager it likely removed the recovery files in the recovery partition.When those files are removed-no download of Recovery Manager is going to install. You will need Recovery Media to boot from to restore the recovery partition and files. If you did not make Recovery Media you will have to order from HP. As for the files you are trying to restore- If this was a backup of personal files,photos,etc to external hard drive or dvds there should be one .exe file inside those files-probably Restore.exe or Recover.exe. Double clicking the .exe will extract the files to a folder on the hard drive of your laptop.

After the backup was finished successfully, I did the factory restore. And when I would like to restore my files, (I clicked to restore file in the backup, and the restore was finished successfully) I see just the folders, the files I cannot see but they are there. If I go to properties I see the files are there. Also I can see them if I extract with the 7Zip program. But extracting with 7Zip program I can see the files with no folders structure and I cannot see the files names, just numbers. If somebody can help me, I would highly appreciate.

Inside the dated backup folder should be a a file called restore.exe or
RecoveryMgr.exe, execute it, it should extract your files and create a "system Recovery" folder on the C drive with your files and folders inside.

Get carbon copy cloner to make an exact copy of your old HD to the New one...

The very first MacBook 1,1s can actually run 10.6, which is updatable to 10.6.8, but will only run in 32 bit mode on yours.

you can purchase a replacement pair of grey installation DVDs for your MacBook Pro from either Apple or iFixit. If Startup Manager is only showing an OS X Installer volume, then it sounds like the Mavericks installer had a problem midway through its installation process. To fix this, you’re going to need to erase your internal disk and reïnstall your original version of OS X from the grey Mac OS X Install DVD, use Software Update to get it back to 10.6.8 (presuming that your MacBook Pro originally came with Snow Leopard), and then restore from Time Machine.

You're in a tough spots here. The hidden partition is wiped out and you lost your DVD's. I would call tech support and see your options about being able to have the recovery disks shipped to you or worst case scenarion, that may not be too costly to purchase.
