How to take a screenshot on an iPad 1

I would like to be able to take a few screen shots from my old iPad 1, but can't find the magical command to do it....

Quickly tap the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time.

We often ask you to send us a “Screenshot” when you are having an issue with your streaming service and are not sure on how to take a screenshot on their phone/tablet so I thought I would provide some simple insturctions
Android: If you’re Running Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) and above.
Get the app or screen that you want to capture ready to go.
Press and hold the “Power” button and the “Home” button at the same time (for phones with no “home” button, hold down the “Power” button and “Volume down” button)
You'll hear the camera shutter sound fire off, along with a short flashing animation, and that's how you know you're good to go.
You'll now be able to see the screenshot in the “Gallery” app. From here you can attach it to your sms, email or direct message and send to the desired recipient.
    Apple IOS:
You can capture the screen on your iOS device using the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
Get the app or screen that you want to capture ready to go.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top or side of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then immediately press and release the Home button.
You'll hear the camera shutter sound fire off, along with a short flashing animation, and that's how you know you're good to go.
You can find the screenshot in your "Photos" app.

  • How to take a screenshot

A popular question that keeps coming back is how to take a screenshot.
How to do this can differ between models and firmware version but there are two different methods used in Xperia devices.
    1.
Press and hold the on/off button. This will bring up the options window you see below. Tap Take screenshot to capture your screen.
This can be done while in any application or menu of the phone.
    2.
Press and hold both on/off and volume down (-) key at the same time for about 2 seconds and the phone will take a screenshot of the present screen.
After you’ve taken a screenshot you’ll see this icon in the top left corner of your notification bar. (Goes for both method 1 and 2)
Drop down the notification bar and you will be able to instantly share your screenshot to any of your supported applications by pressing the share button.
All screenshots you’ve taken will be saved so you can view them later in the album application.

Are you asking whether you can take an icon from a file in the filesystem and store and subsequently display it? Conceptually, not a problem. You would want to determine the extension and then use either JNA or JNI to access the registry (or use an existing API [http://www.dzone.com/links/access_windows_registry_using_pure_java.html]) and find where that extension is associated to a file type. That is usually linked to another registry key that has the icon to display (and its path). Use a FileInputStream to get that icon on the filesystem. You can Google around for how to navigate the Registry, I'm not a Microsoft expert, but I know it can be done.
Or are you asking whether the contents of the first "page" of an arbitrary file (Word doc, PDF, image, etc.) can be discerned and then stored and subsequently displayed? If this is the requirement, it will be very difficult to support more than a few formats. And many formats that are native to a given O/S will cause you issues.

There are 3 ways that you can try:
    1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of your iPhone, then immediately press and release the Home button.
    2. Enabling AssistiveTouch, open "AssistiveTouch". If you take a screeshout, use Specific AssistiveTouch Options.

How do I take a screenshot with a PC? (Scroll down for Mac instructions)

If you are experiencing an issue at home that we can't recreate here at Tagged, we often ask that you send us a screenshot. We understand that just because it's not happening here doesn't mean it's not happening.
For instructions on how to take a screenshot using a Mac, please click here.
To take a screenshot using a PC follow these steps:
The three keys are 'PrntScn/SysRq', 'Scroll Lock', and 'Pause/Break'. The key 'PrtScn/SysRq' is the screenshot key (PrtScn=print screen)
You should pull up the page you wish to take a picture of then tap 'PrtSc/SysRq'. When you tap the key, it appears as if nothing has happened but when you tap that key it actually takes a picture of your screen and 'copies' it.
After tapping 'PrtScn/SysRq', you should open the program called 'Paint'. 'Paint' is automatically installed on all PCs, so if you do not know it then you can find it easily by searching your computer for 'Paint' (you can search for a program on your computer by clicking 'Start' then typing the name into the search box).
So now that you have Paint open and you have already tapped 'PrtSc/SysRq', simply push and hold 'Ctrl' then 'V'.
This will paste the image into Paint. From here you can label the screenshot (or do nothing).  To send us your screenshot, save the image and then attach it to the email or Contact Us form as you would any normal photo.

  • How do I take a screenshot of the GDM?

Hello, I modified a GDM I found on Gnome-Looks.org and I want to take a screenshot of it.
Does anybody know how I can do this? Thanks.

    Basically you have two options.
    - You can use gdmthemetester to create a Xnest for you
    gdmthemetester <environment> <themename>
    gdmthemetester console Circles
You can find themes in /usr/share/gdm/themes
    - You can launch GDM, wait for it to load, switch to another VT (not 7), and then run this:
    chvt 7 ; sleep 5 ; XAUTHORITY=/var/gdm/:0.Xauth DISPLAY=:0.0 import -window
    root /tmp/gdm-shot.png
This will switch to VT 7, wait 5 seconds, establish the environmental variables and take a screenshot using imagemagick.
Oh yeah, you can use a search engine to find more information.  Try "how to take a screenshot of gdm".
Thanks, and I did search on Google and Ubunut Forums as well as here... I saw both ways you described, but wasn't sure about either of them because nobody really "explained" it, so I wasn't really sure of what it did.
Your explanation about using the tty really helped me, so thank you. I'm going to try it that way first.
And I always search for at least a day before I ask... plus, I had already found this page: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2127
... but it wasn't explained as good as you explained it.

  • Screenshot on an iPad

How do you take a screenshot on an iPad?

The simplest way to make iPad screenshot is by pressing the Sleep button and Home button. It's my first choice to share my iPad screen with my friends. And if you have a broken Home button or a badly damaged Sleep/Wake button, you can use Assistive Touch to do this trick. To take iPad screenshot with it, just press the Assistive Touch icon and tap "Device > More > Screenshot", then your screenshot will be saved in your Camera Roll.

  • Take a Screenshot on iPad iOS 7

    Hi,
How can you take a screen shot on the iPad iOS 7? Before on iOS 6 you could use the Home Button and the Side Switch.
    Thanks

Actually the original poster has a valid question. The screenshot function does not work as seemlessly as in previous versions of the iOS. If you hit both buttons at the exact same time, your device will go into sleep mode. In order for it to work like before, you must hit the power button a millisecond before the home button. Try it.
That's the answer. My phone kept resetting every time I tried to take a screenshot. Hitting the power button slightly before the home button gives me a screenshot.
