How to tell Facetime to contact a particular device?

I have Facetime on my iMac (27 inch with built-in camera, running OS 10.7.3).
If I try to use Facetime with my wife on her iPhone (where her number has a blue star by it), it connects and works fine.  However, if I try to use Facetime to talk with with her through her new MacBook Pro (using her email address as the contact), Facetime reverts back to the phone number and calls her iPhone.
How can I force Facetime to contact her Macbook instead of her iPhone?

OK, I think I figured this out by myself.  The short answer is that you cannot specify a particular device, unless you set up Facetime (or iMessage) only for that device.  If you have multiple devices with the same Apple ID, they all respond to an incoming iMessage or Facetime call.
In my case, I've set up my iPhone, iPad, and Macs to use Facetime and iMessage with the same Apple ID.  When someone wants to do a Facetime call with me, or send me an iMessage, all the devices respond simultaneously.  It's kinda funny to hear the Phone, iPad, and iMac going off, telling me I have an iMessage, or asking me to accept a Facetime call.  From there, I simply choose whatever device I want to use.
I would add that with iMessage, the way I have my gear set up, all the messages are synced, meaning I can be doing an iMessage chat on my iPad, stop for a while, and pick it up again on my iPhone -- the same message string will be in the Message app (synced by iCloud I assume).  Anyway, it's kinda neat.

  • How to tell in what indices a particular field participates

I have a table with a field where I suspect the values are not unique when in fact they should be. I want an easy way to tell if the values are unique. Is there an easy way to do this?
I tried creating a unique index on the table. But the schema manager tells me that such fields are already indexed. The index names on the database are quite critic and hardly gives a clue as to what fields participates in them. Is there a way to tell in what indeices a particular participates/resides?

Another way you can find duplicates is to us the script utlexcpt.sql found in $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin. That script will create an exceptions table. To find duplicates just add a unique constraint to the table you are checking using the following syntax:
alter table <table_name> add constraint <constraint_name>
    unique(<column_or_columns_list>)
    exceptions into exceptions.
When the constraint fails, the rowids of the duplicate rows will be placed into the exceptions table. Care should be taken here. If you have two duplicate rows in the table, the exceptions table will have the rowids of both rows.

how can i organize my contacts on multiple devices

What I ment was: How can I organize my contacts into groups without leaving the "Contacts" app.

  • How to tell if a contact blocked or deleted me...

ok, this is rather complicated. A few months ago, when I was using a previous version of Skype, this is what happened: 1. The user appeared as "Away" 2. I could no longer view his number of contacts (though he could have switched this to private)3. His photo on my contact list was replaced entirely by the "Away" status symbol, but when I clicked his name, his profile photo still appeared4. His time zone and location still appeared5. There was no mood message, but I don't remember if he ever had one...6. Our message history still appeared 7. When I filtered my contact list to show only users who had shared contact information, he still appeared8. "Last seen" status was still visible, but it appeared that he was constantly "Away"...I never saw it updated... 9. Most of the time, my own profile would show 0 contacts, even though he appeared on my contact list Had he blocked or deleted me at that point?   Recently, I had to download a new version of Skype, 7.8.2015, I believe and this is how he now appears: 1. His photo appears in my contact list, along with the "Away" status symbol2. His location appears, but still no number of contacts3. His time zone no longer appears4. No "last seen" status appears 5. Our message history is gone, but that could be due to downloading a new version of Skype6. When I filtered my contact list to show only users who had shared contact information, he still appears 7. Still no mood message, but again I can't remember if he ever had one...8. Now, my profile consistently shows 1 contact  What is going on? Have I been blocked? Have I been deleted? Please help! Thanks very much!

Oh, there is something else I just noticed: under the number of my contacts, the number "1" is greyed out. Any meaning to that? Could he have deleted or abandoned his account? But then he would appear as "Offline", not "Away", no?

  • FaceTime difficulties - contacting the right device

Want to make a FaceTime call from my MacBook pro to a friend's iMac. However, I get him on his mobile phone. How can I specify which device I want to speak to him on?

Your friend has to specify that in each device's FaceTime Preferences. You cannot specify the device, unless you were to do so in collaboration with your friend by having him specify different email address contact information for different devices.
"You can be reached for FaceTime at..."
    Add or remove as needed.

  • How do I limit bandwidth on a particular device?

I want to know how I can manually limit the Kbps for a particular devince in the QOS.
I DO NOT want to simply set the priority (low/med/high). I want to "physically" limit a device.
When I select to do it manually (upstream bandwidth) it limits ALL devices and I do not want this.
I want to limit the bandwidth on only one device that is connected (ie an Xbox)
    I have a Linksys E4200 V2
    Thanks in advance.

In your case could you please let me know whether your X-Box is connected wired or wireless to the router? Try to set the upstream bandwidth with the desired value and select 'MAC address' under the heading 'category', put the MAC address (depending upon how the x-box is connected to the router) in the space provided keeping priority as high.
    its wired.
upstream bandwidth affects ALL devices, as I previously stated. its useless to me.
I agree with Jake_2.0, the router don't have that capability.
Yes that was already stated.  Please do not duplicate answers.

  • How to only have certain contacts on specific devices

We updated to iCloud on our iPhone 4's....now my husband has all of my contacts, as well as all of his. But I only have mine. What happened? I updated mine first.
    What should we do?

In order to use iCloud every person should have his own Apple ID for iCloud. This allows to keep contacts seperated.
You can still use the same Apple ID for purchases: Settings->Store
But I would suggest that everybody uses an additionnal personal Apple ID for iCloud: Settings->iCloud
Feel free to ask, when having more questions!

The Mail app doesn't have a spam filter, any filtering that you want to do needs to be done before it reaches the iPad - if you log into your account via a browser, does your email provider have any settings/options that you can enable  ?

    Hello
I have multiple address books (gmail, Outlook, work, etc...).
As each address book has over 100+ entries, I look for contacts by searching (Simply starting typing their name!)
When viewing the contact, how can one tell which address book they belong to?
When I try editing, unable to edit which address book they belong to.
I'm sure I'm not the only one. Search here ... nothing yet ... at least I do not see it
