How to tell history of apps run (& usage) on iPhone

How can I tell what apps were run recently on my iPhone.  Idea is to double check child's use of apps (both type and if possible length of time used).
This is an issue when phone access is to be granted, but trust has been shattered in the past and we are re-building it with child ... :-(
Of course, one way to control app use is to just delete the app (at least there's still control of the Apple ID)!
The child already knows how to close apps (double hitting home button then shutting down icons).
On desktop you can run Terminap app and then command "last" to see usage of computer in general (and under Settings -> Users you can get a log of apps used, I think).  Looking for similar on iPhone.
iPad too ... but that might be same as desktop - have to check.
Native or 3rd party ... happy to pay!
This is not just a website surfing issue.  Apps in general.

No. I don't believe such an app is even possible with iOS.

  • How do I turn off apps running in the background on iOS7?

I just updated my iPhone 5 to iOS7.  How do I turn off apps running in the background? Double tapping the home button and turning each one off doesn't work on the updated iOS.

Double click the Home button and "slide" the open apps 'UP" with your finger, they will disappear.

They changed it a bit, but you can still close apps. Double click the Home button to pull up the currently running apps. Side scroll over to the app you want to close, then swipe up on the app *window* (not the icon at the bottom).

7 month old thread, probably by this time OP already has a Note.
As for the rest of us, we did understand. Kappy answered correctly that it could not be done. Its jus not something iOS is programmed to do.
We then gave some alternatives. no one suggested it was what the OP wanted to do. Just something that could be done to approximate the requirement.
If that doesn't work for you, then there's nothing else that can be done.
Its not a currently supported feature on iOS. You can offer the suggestion to Apple on their feedback page.

There's nothing wrong with buying a different product that fits your needs more than an iPad.
Its like tryng to take a Sedan offroad. Was it built to do that?  No. Can it, probably limitedly but the experience is not going to be very pleasant. Buy an Offroad vehicle and you can go offroad just fine. You don't whine because the sedan can't do it. You get something that can.

Now that I downloaded the new iPad update, how do I shut down apps running in the background to preserve battery life?

in iOS 7, double click the Home Button (the round one on the front).
You will see icons for all open apps with a 'screenshot' above each icon. Simply drag any 'screenshot' upwards using 1 finger to close the app.
Most apps don't use much power when inactive but some do including Sat Nav apps

  • HT1689 how so i put my apps back on my iphone 4 if i connected it to a computer that has an ipod account on it and took my apps and wont sync them back to my phone

How do i put my apps back on my iphone 4? I hooked it up to a computer to update for the first time,. The computer had an ipod account on it already. After my update it took all of my apps and music etc; now i cant sync it back on my phone! Please help.

If there are copies of your Music and Apps on your computer, then it's a simple matter of clicking on the iPhone in iTunes and going to the sections at the top (Summary, Info, Apps etc) to tell it what to sync, then click the sync button in the bottom right corner.
If there is nothing backed up to your computer in iTunes, your purchased music and apps can be redownloaded directly from the iPhone:
iTunes app > More > Purchased > Music > Not on this iPhone
App Store app > Updates > Purchases > Not on this iPhone

  • How to tell if you are running an exe or vi

    My searching skills suck today.
I am building an exe using the application path to find certain files that need to be included.  It works great in the exe, but when making changes to the VI all the paths are broken because of the application path.  But I remember back a while someone had a way to tell if you were running the program as a VI or an exe.  Then when the program starts it can choose the correct paths to use.
Any ideas on how to do that?  Or is there a better way to run the program as a VI and an exe without breaking paths?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Drop a property node of the 'Application' class, select Application->Kind.  The output is an enum of Development vs. Runtime vs. Student vs. Embedded... you get the idea.

How can I permanently remove apps from my iphone, ipad, ipod operating in the iCloud?

Apps don't operate in the cloud - they're either downloaded to your device, or they're in your Purchased list. You can't permanently remove the history of apps you've purchased, but you can hide them. See this link:

  • How do I get my apps back after my iPhone update?

I just updated my iPhone, and there was an error message that required my phone to be restored to factory settings. It even deactivated my phone from Verizon service. After it was reactivated, only my contacts and my free apps were put back on there. I have important apps for nursing school that I paid for...one of them was $30! How do I get back what I already paid a lot for?

They should be in itunes on your computer.  Just sync them back.
Certainly you did not update without making sure that any apps purchased on your iphone were transferred to itunes.
If so, then Open itunes store, click "Purchased" under "Quick Links" and redownload them.
    Hope all goes well.
