Sorry for reposting the age-old question, but I was wondering if anyone is aware if Skype policies have changed regarding this old question. According to the older forum posts, about a year or two old, if someone deletes you from Skype, there are differing opinions as to whether or not you can see the contact online or not. (Skype won't let me link the old forum post, so you'll have to Google it)
However, the tests I ran using a dud Skype account show that if I delete "myself," the "resend contact request" button appears. It seems to clearly show that I deleted a contact. If I block a contact, then the contact only appears offline. The first part seems to contradict what the older forum posts claim, and I was wondering if this Skype behavior has changed. Does it matter if the contacts are connected to the same supernode? I'm also doing this on a PC, so does the behavior change if my contact using the Mac or mobile version?
In the end, my question is in regards to a specific contact which I have been wondering if that person deleted me from their contact list. What is the privacy setting for mood messages? If I can see the contact's mood message, does that mean they have not deleted me? I know it says "Contacts only" for mood message under privacy, but I don't know if that means current contacts, or those who have been "authorized" as contacts.

equally curious, I also try to run tests of my own. as far as I remember, users should not be able to distinguish the differences between deleted and blocked. But the results seem to be contradicting this idea. Changes were checked after logging out/logging in, 5 minutes from the time after performing the actions (blocking and deleting).

Everything that you have checked in your icloud settings will be shared between devices using the same Apple ID. If you don't want icloud to share that information, then simply turn off that process under settings > icloud

PhotoStream is purely a conduit for transferring pictures added to or taken on one device onto all the others seamlessly. Photos are held there only for 30 days. There is no way of accessing, viewing or deleting individual photos; you can reset the entire Photostream, erasing everything.

How do I get rid of deleted emails from my work email account set up on my Air. Keep getting error message "An error occurred while moving messages to mailbox "Trash - On My Mac" They go away from deleted account folder when I hit "trash button" but then they come back later.

Back up all data. Rebuild the mailbox. Try to delete the messages again.

OK after a bit of research I found a way to achieve this.
I simply looked up the email address in ADUC, then did a search in SP with the display name. I could locate the list and manually confirm it was configured with the incoming email address I was looking for.
I also found the below script on Stackoverflow, but got "The 'using' keyword is not supported in this version of the language." when I tried to run it. Any idea how to fix that? I'd like to have a script to link a library to an email address istead of the
manual approach described above.

I set it up to do this a couple years ago but I forgot exactly how I did it. Now I need to know how to stop it.

How are you importing photos? The photos (camera roll) from my wife's iPhone 5 syncs via wifi to my iPhoto account on the the laptop. This happens when she logs on to the laptop. We do not use the same Apple ID.
Like I said, I did this a couple years ago. I totally forgot how I did it and what method (iTunes settings?, Mac settings?, iPhone setting?) I utilized.
I was over at the forum which deals with iPhoto but they feel it is an iCloud issue.

If you are using the same AppleID for iCloud as your brother, then the contacts were deleted. There isn't a way to recover them. Sorry.

i love how when I actually type a question I answer my own question. I re-read the pop up dialog this time and it said "only files in the itunes folder will be deleted." SO the times that I saw it was when I was deleting podcasts and itunes content.

How can I stop my iPad deleting gmails from their servers?

I have an iMac and Mail with which I have happily been downloading mail from some gmail accounts. I have the setting "Remove copy from server after retrieving a message" unchecekd so, as I want, downloaded messages remain available on the gmail servers.
However, now I have an iPad, I find that when that downloads an email from gmail, it deletes the server copy - which I do not want.
But I can't find any setting on the iPad where I can stop this happening!
The only work-round I can think of is to stop downloading gmails to my iPad, which rather defeats the purpose of having a mobile device!
How can I ensure that copies remain on gmails servers unles and until I deliberately delete them?

Thanks, Diavonex, but that is already On and my iPad panel looks just like yours. Is it possible that what I think is deletion is in fact merely the gmails moving somewhere else that I have yet to discover?
I have been thinking about this, and I may be able to add more information which might help with a diagnosis.
The accounts affected are IMAP accounts. Now I confess here that I have no real idea what IMAP/POP accounts are, but it may be relevant.
Also, on the iMac most if not all gmail emails get passed directly into user defined folders using Mail's Rules, so virtually none remain in my inbox. Nor, for that matter, do I ever delete gmail emails off the iMac unless they are clearly junk.
On the iPad, however, things are different.
I do not use the iPad as my main device, and I use the emails received thereon for general review only, any real responses or work arising is done later back on the iMac.
So, when I have read emails on the iPad, unless they require action before I get back home to the iMac, I tend to read - and then delete them. They move to the iPad's Trash where they remain until I decide to have a purge of old deleted emails and then delete them from Trash.
Could that be what is happening? Is the act of deleting them off the iPad, either into Trash or later from Trash itself, be the cause of them being deleted from the gmail servers?
Would setting Rules on the iPad (if indeed that is possible) so that gmails go direct into a folder other than my In-Box be a possible solution?
A solution would also be, I suppose, not to download gmails to the iPad, but that would defeat the object of having a tablet, even though I use it more for information rather then action!

Stupid Question: How to tell MAC which drive to boot from?

This may sound really stupid but coming from the Windows world....how do I get the system to boot from a different drive (if and when I get it setup :-)).

I decided to get an external firewire drive (Maxtor) to boot my Macs in the event that I was unable to get one of the Macs to boot. I installed the Tiger OS on the Maxtor using my Powerbook G4 disk and then tried it out with the Option key pressed at startup and it booted from the Maxtor and worked great on the Powerbook. I then (using the firewire cable again) attached it to my Powermac G5 that I bought about a year ago (Dual processor, 2.3 Ghz.) and it also booted from the Maxtor just fine.
I then hooked it up to my newest Mac the exact same way (Powermac G5, Dual Core, 2.3 Ghz) and got a kernel panic. Why would that be?

How do I keep my wife's IPhone from alerting her for all of MY appointments?

Both IPhones and my MacBook Pro are sync'd to the same ICloud/ITunes account.
My plan: Use 3 separate calendars to organize our appointments - one for her, one for me, and one joint calendar.
I keep trying to unselect my calendar on her phone to keep my appontments from alerting her.
I guess the ICloud keep reselecting that calendar on her phone. We both receive all alerts.
Is there a way to have ICloud only sync certain calendars with certain IPhones? Or is it an all-or-nothing deal? That would be so dissapointing.

An icloud account is really designed for one user. Unless you want all your devices to be identical (same emails, contacts, calendars, photos in the stream, etc.) your wife should have her own account so she can keep emails, etc. as hers, not yours also.
With calendars, you can make some "sharable" so two user can share events, the other calendars are personal, for each user. Log into icloud.com, go to the calendar page, click small icon next to a listed calandar (click the Calendar button first if there is one) and select sharable.
As for itunes account - you can both share the same account for sharing music, apps etc. without having to re-buy them.

Go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account. Then log in using a different ID.
