How to tell if a purchased battery is legit?
I bought an 8-cell battery for my x61s from what I thought was a reputable seller on Amazon. Now I am not 100% sure, as the data in the Lenovo Power software doesn't match what's on the box label or the battery itself. The battery & software seem to agree with each other except the software says the serial number is "175." Hmm
Is there somebody I can find to verify legitimacy?

I would say you're right. If that was a re-celled battery, power manager would show two manufacturing dates and it only shows one. The serial number matches and everything matches to the battery so I would say that you have a brand new battery from Lenovo.

My computer tells me I purchased Rod Stewart's Christmas album. I DID NOT. How do I get iTunes to cancel the purchase. Also, this thing has suddenly started playing when I turn on my computer. How do I make it stop?
It is probably too late to cancel it, but contact the iTunes store support staff at http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html and see what they can do for you.

How to tell which device in-app purchases were made from?
When looking at account purchase history, how can I tell which device purchases were made from for in-app purchases?
Hey HeardItHere,
You can view your purchase history by checking iTunes. It will include in-app purchases. You can find out how to do so here:
iTunes Store & Mac App Store: Seeing your purchase history and order numbers
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2727
Also, you'll receive an invoice by email each time your credit card is charged. An invoice is sent approximately every $20 or 12 hours, whichever occurs first.
Sincerely,
Delgadoh -

sussan-b,
Does the bar showing used space have a portion labeled "Other"?
Usually other is files that have been copied to the iPod directly, or space you have told the iPod to reserve for other files by enabling disk use.

I have a 4th gen iPod touch that won't power up! I tried all the traditional stuff. I want to know how to tell if the battery is good. itunes see's the ipod in recovery mode. Tried dfu mode and did not work. Any ideas? I can hear the PC beep when plugging it in! I suspect a bad battery and trying to charge it ina wall charger made it hot!
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. The appointment is free.

How do I know which replacement battery to buy?
Although my battery has only 120 charge cycles, it only works for a few minutes before the computer suddenly shuts down. Apple won't give me a new battery, so I need to buy a new one. The person at customer service couldn't even tell me which exact battery to order for my computer though... sigh.
I have a 15" MacBook Pro, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.5 GHz, Model Number A1260.
Is this the correct battery for my machine? Thanks!

ThomasA few places...
1.) The URL supplied by the above poster (thank you)
2.) http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html (under the part where it says battery lifespan)
3.) My various training via Apple certifications and during my employment with Apple
Now, none of those public facing links explicitly use the word "defective." This is where it gets into translation and understanding:
+Your one-year warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery. You can extend your replacement coverage for a defective battery to three years from the date of your notebook purchase with the AppleCare Protection Plan. However, the AppleCare Protection Plan for notebook computers _does not cover batteries that have failed or are exhibiting diminished capacity_ except when the failure or diminished capacity is the result of a manufacturing defect.+
How does an AppleCare phone agent evaluate a battery in consideration for defective versus depleted? Prior to the tool, there was no easy way to do that. Sure, a 2+ year old machine with 6 cycles is obvious but I've had batteries replaced that were 30+ months old with less than 20 cycles replaced without batting an eye.
Even via clarification (prior to working for Apple), until recently where Apply deployed battery diagnostics the cut off was always 300 until the new, non-removable batteries were introduced.
Apple's policy, reiterated by numerous sources (see above) was that a battery with less than 300 cycles that did not have 80% of it's original capacity could be considered defective and eligible for replacement. Are there exceptions to that rule, sure... there are to any with Apple. Now with the tool that's deployed at stores and service providers they have the ability to determine if the battery is actually considered to be depleted (not defective) but that's relatively new feature.
I've had ~40 some odd batteries replaced by Apple in the past 7 years that had less than 300 cycles, less than 80% charge capacity and under AppleCare. In every instance the replacement process was hassle free, immediate and unquestioned. It wasn't until about ~10 months ago where the diagnostic came into the equation. -
How do I MERGE the purchases of two iTunes accounts into one Family Share?
We have purchased many apps via two iTunes accounts. How do we merge these purchases into on Family Share account
Hi MacHead2010,
I am not quite sure exactly what you mean by your question. It is not possible to merge two iTunes Store accounts. See this article for reference -
Frequently asked questions about Apple ID - Apple Support
Using Family Sharing, however, does allow all members of a Family Sharing group to use the content such as music, apps, etc on each other's devices.
See this article for how to set up Family Sharing -
OS X Yosemite: Set up Family Sharing
This article will tell you what content can be shared -
Which purchased content can I share using Family Sharing - Apple Support
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Having a bad day my iTunes library got corrupted and my back up disk has failed how can I restore my purchases from the iTunes store? When I try it tells me the pruchases have already been downloaded to this computer.
Does your purchased rmusic appears under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) ? If they do and you don't have the cloud symbol against them so as to re-download them, then do you still have the entries for them in your library i.e. where you would normally click on them to play them ? If you do then try deleting them from there (iTunes will be seeing them and assuming that you still have them somewhere) and they should then get the cloud symbol for re-downloading in the Purchased link.
If you aren't in a country where music can be re-downloaded then you could try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, -
The whole story: The hard drive on my quite new Mac Book Pro, bought in December of 2011, crashed and burned in the Fall of 2012. I purchased a new hard drive and was informed that the only way I could have saved my "stuff" was to back it up with an external hard drive. Who knew?? I bought a G Drive Slim at the Apple store, and on their advice. BUT I really don't understand how to use it, and the instructions are completely inadequate. How can you tell when it is finished? I have educated myself on the proper way to eject the Drive, but I don't know how to tell if it is done. Or, frankly, if it is even doing anything. The white light burns steadily, no blinking, no flickering. Nothing. Thanks for help.
are you backing up files, or doing a Time machine backup, either way, the Time machine will STOP when finished and show "last backup at XXXXXX" meaning its done...... OR if when transferring files, it will show a progress bar on your desktop and vanish when files are copied.
Open up the Hitachi drive (your G drive is made by Hitachi, and the best made by the way).....and see if the files are there.
a MORE VISUAL way is to open the hard drive file, and drag and drop files INTO the Gdrive and you can see them visually be copied there as you do it.
To see your HD on your desktop GOTO FINDER......PREFERENCES....then GENERAL TAB.........check the box marked HARD DRIVES.........then your Gdrive will appear on your desktop........open it from there, and DRAG and drop files from anywhere INTO the Gdrive....... easy visual way to see the files being copied into the Gdrive. -

How do you calibrate the iPad battery?
How do you calibrate the iPad battery and is it necessary to discharge battery 100%. I have the 3 rd generation iPad, it has been almost a year since I purchased it and the battery when fully charged reads 100%. Recently, I visited my local Jump Plus store and the staff said I should drain the batteries on my iPad & iPhone completely until they are dead and recharge once a month. Is this accurate? It is my understanding that you should not drain the batteries completely? Also, is that the same as calibrating the battery?
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

How long iPad 2 3G WiFi battery can last exactly?
How long iPad 2 3G WiFi battery can last exactly?
I'm not sure whether or not you're asking directly about a Wifi battery but, if you are ... there isn't one.
If you're asking how long the battery will last, exactly, when using wifi .... no one can possibly tell you that. However, the performance specs put out by Apple say that you should get a nominal 10 hours of use in 'normal' use, and normal for most people would mean wifi ON in Settings and probably connected through most of the day.
