How to tell if my laptop integrated graphics uses UMA or discrete memory?

I'm looking to buy a replacement heatsink/fan assembly for my DV6-6117DX laptop as the ball bearing on my fan is dieing. Using the service manual I've narrowed it down to two parts:
650848-001 (For use only with computer models equipped with an AMD A8, A6, or A4 processor and a graphics subsystem with discrete memory)
650847-001 (For use only with computer models equipped with an AMD A8, A6, or A4 processor and a graphics subsystem with UMA memory)
I'm just not sure whether my laptop's integrated graphics uses discrete memory or UMA memory. The processor is an AMD Quad-Core A8-3500M with integrated AMD Radeon HD 6620G Discrete-Class Graphics. This is copied from the HP specs page. Does the "discrete-class graphics" imply that it uses discrete memory?

Put this way if you have AMD video that is the discrete video and you most likely can't upgrade that video if that what your thinking of doing. It should have 1-2gigs of Video RAM that what it usualy comes with but that doesn't qualify it for a Gaming laptop if that is what your looking do to. Gaming laptops cost upwards to 2000US for decent game play and those Video are the higher end video chipset. And if you want to know if you have shared memory with the video look at your UEFI or Bios and look for shared video memory and you will have more insight into the video itself.

"dtutil", how to tell which configuration file for packages using after deployment?

Trying to achieve this feature,
Using DOS command to automatic my deployment process--glad I found dtutil. However, it doesnt give you any chance to identify which configuration file to be used by SSIS packages after deployment.
Deployment Method: file deployment
Configuration sued: XML file and SQL Table. IN XML file, it tells which DB connection for packages to look up the configuration table.
Who can share some thoughts on this?

It is NOT about sequence.
It is about how to point which configuration file to be used by deployed packages as during the "dtutil.exe"
deployment, you dont have chance to identify which physical location confg files to be used.

That you do only at the time of execution of packages. By default it uses configuration settings created at design time within the package. If you want to override it, you can use \Configfile switch of dtexec for that. You can also set explicit values for
properties using /SET switch

How to set up web application integration to use hotmail as my default email

I use hotmail and/or yahoo for my email providers, but when I click on an email link on a website, nothing opens like it did with IE. The website says I can set this up through a "web application integration" but I cannot find instructions on how to do this anywhere. I checked out all the "options" under tools and can't find it. I'm sure it's simple but I can't find it, LOL

How to tell if an Image is loaded using Toolkit.getImage()

If I use Toolkit.getImage(url) it always returns an Image object, no matter if the image located at that url is a correct image or not.
The w/h is always -1, -1 right after loading (since it hasn't been loaded completely of course).
Anyone know how I can tell if a correct image is loaded or not, without adding a MediaTracker?

Why don't you want to use a MediaTracker? It is by far the most convenient way to do what you want to do.

We are a large development shop and have many customers. Our database design is very generic so that it works for all of our customers. Each night we use an SSIS ETL process to bring down large amounts of data from the iSeries into SQL. One
particularily large customer takes a very long time and we are looking for ways to speed up thier data import and transformation. I would like to see which indexes he does not use and possibly remove them. Each night we fully repopulate hundreds of staging
and ods tables and incrementally delete and repopulate the days work for a handful of history type tables. Removing some indexes off of the large tables could make a big impact.
How can i tell which indexes the customer does not use?

How to tell which serial number was already used for CS5.5 Web?

I have a 2 copies of CS 5.5 Web Premium at work. I need to reinstall them on 2 laptops and 2 PCs. Each copy has been used before on the laptops, but the hard drives on the laptops crashed and will need to be reinstalled. Will this cause any issues? Thanks in Advance!

How to tell if a file is being used by another process?

However i have had to put in a 1 second delay before running the script after i create it otherwise the script will fail as it thinks the file is still being used by the java program.
I wish to know how to test for wether a file is currently locked by a process (with out trying to create a File() instance in a try/catch block as this would lock the file again :/ )

I have over come my problem by creating a seperate script for each shortcut first and then running the scripts later. This does mean that there needs to be space for the temporary script files... but since each of those are under 1K each i do not suppose that it is much of an issue. It has however remakably increased performance by over 100 fold!

I've looked and can't find any info on this...is there a way to tell which of the 4 bands the phone is using and/or a way to pick which band it's using?

The band in use is based on the network you are on. You have no control over it and no real need to know it. In general for a given location there is only one band that is available. The following Wikipedia article discusses bands:

Put a passcode on it and don't give the passcode to anyone. Then you will know that no one is using the phone. If the phone in question is not yours, then whether they are using it secretly or openly is probably outside of your control.

Switch between integrated graphics and discrete graphics on a Satellite P-50A

I have a PSPMHU-0C702Q and I'd like to know if there is a way to switch between the intel integrated graphics and the nvidia discrete graphics?
And/or...is there a way to turn off either one?
I'd like to use the integrated graphics doing web and email but when gaming, switch to discrete.
I found a post stating the following for a different machine...
"...Your CPU has integrated graphics capability, but your system utilizes the ATI graphics card, so the integrated graphics on the CPU are not used. The ATI graphics card has better specs than the integrated graphics anyway...."
Which points to the discrete graphics being used, however, when I run the directX diagnostic, the display device shown is the intel HD graphics 4600.
Any insight? Thanks in advanced.

I went through a similar pain recently. Assuming that your hardware supports having both display devices enabled at the same time, set up the IGP using the modesetting driver. This doc should have everything you need to get set up:

How do I make Visual Studio 2013 use my dedicated graphics card instead of integrated graphics on my laptop?

I am using Alienware 13 as a portable workstation. I do game development on Unreal Engine 4 using Visual Studio 2013. The issue I am having is that when I want to debug codes in Visual Studio 2013, it launches Unreal Engine 4 through the debugger and uses
the integrated graphics card rather than my dedicated graphics card, which is an nVida Geforce 860M.
When I wanted to change the settings in the NVidia Control Panel, I see this:
The drop-down menu is grayed out, so I cannot select to change the graphics card to my dedicated card.
What should I do? How do I make it so that Visual Studio uses my dedicated card? Thanks in advance.

How to disable iNTEGRATED graphics On the Y40? in bios

i want to fully disable the integrated graphics through bios. in the switchable graphics and uma, either use both or integrated basicly. how do i change it so its dedicated instead of integrated?

Chrome should work fine on an integrated chip, heck I could play games on the integrated chip back in 2006. I think your issue may be loss of performance in Battery mode.

How can I tell if my laptop has a camera?

I have the integrated camera in the start menu, but the only option there is uninstall. All that shows up in my control panel under cameras and scanners is my scanner. I don't SEE a camera anywhere. So I'm thinking I don't have one. But I'm not sure why it would be in my start menu (in programs) if I don't have it, and before I uninstall it I'd like to find out how to tell for sure it I have the camera! I've found info that says the camera comes with certain monitor types, but I don't know my monitor type. My computer is a Lenovo 3000 N200. Product ID is 0769AUU.
Also, if I do have a camera, how do I make it work?

look for camera in the list.
another simple way is: if it is on your system, it will be installed near top edge of the display/monitor.
