How to tell ip address??

Hi. I just bought a sun sparc station 20, and my nic has no light on it. I think that its ip is on the wrong subnet as the rest of my network. How do i tell if its using dhcp or static ip, or what the ip address is? Also, I want to get onto the internet with this computer. any tips for a newbie?

use ifconfig -a to see network interfaces configured , their ip address and netmask . Generally network card has a few lights like link & data . If the link light is not on even on connecting with a good hub/switch cable/network card may have problem.

As each address book has over 100+ entries, I look for contacts by searching (Simply starting typing their name!)
When viewing the contact, how can one tell which address book they belong to?
When I try editing, unable to edit which address book they belong to.
I'm sure I'm not the only one. Search here ... nothing yet ... at least I do not see it

Open the contact in question. At the bottom click on Links. It will tell you the contacts list(s) it belongs to.

How to tell IP address of network printer attached to Time Capsule?

Hi,
I just bought a 1TB Time Capsule today. I have a HP network printer and a Vista desktop attached to two of the Ethernet ports. In addition,I have an iMac and Macbook connected to the Time Capsule wirelessly. Everything is working fine except the printer. My Vista desktop can't find my printer. Is there anyway to find the IP address of the printer so that I can connect to it directly?

Am I correct in guessing that you have the Time Capsules WAN port connected to a router or modem?
If so who is giving out IP addresses (via DHCP)?
Usually there is a way to see what addresses have been assigned by asking the device making the assignment.
In my configuration it's no the TC but the router/modem and I can ask it to list the attached devices it has assigned IP addresses to.
I use the TC in bridge mode and haven't tried it as a DHCP server, but I suspect it will also show attached devices?
I assume also that the network printer worked fine in your previous network configuration?
So it might help to know a little more about what you have before the TC and how you changed it to include the TC.

Email addresses into what?
Each user should have their own account and password to log in. Each is independent of the other. So for Mail each has their own Mail account if they set one up in Mail.
That's the way it should be set up. Are you using a single account and allowing multiple users to use that one single account? If so then in Mail at least you could set up individual mail accounts. But everything else in the system is shared.

could anyone give me a hint, how to tell my netware DHCP to use a Windows Server 2008 R2 running Acronis with PXE Server?
Actual Situation:
Netware 6.5 Sp8 Server with ZENWORKS in Cluster mode
Netware DHCP Server
ZEN7 SP1 Imaging
--> works fine so far, and no problem in other subnets, IP-helper are configured in the switches
New Situation:
Netware 6.5 Sp8 Server with ZENWORKS in Cluster mode
Netware DHCP Server
Windows Server 2008 R2 running Acronis Snap Deploy with PXE-Server - in future may be a clean Windows Deployment service without Acronis
--> that would be nice :)
I found serveral ini-files (dts.ini, pdhcp.ini, tftp.ini) where I configured the new IP-Address of the W2k8 PXE Server.
Now:
The Client gets its correct IP-Address from Netware DHCP
but after that the following messages:
Auto-select:
ZENworks Boot
Boot Server IP: --.--.--.-- (the correct one configured in the ini-files!)
TFTP.
PXE-T02:
PXE-E3C: TFTP Error - Access Violation
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent
Any ideas?

Possibly just unconfigure an option that was set for the previos setup; One thing to check (and remove) is option 60 for the PXE Client option, if this is configured with the DHCP subnet options. This option should only be set if both DHCP and PXE services are on the same server (as is probably the case in your situation as I'm guessing both DHCP as also PXE get loaded in the same cluster resource script).
For subnets serviced outside of the subnet your DHCP server is running in, you will need to configure multiple ip helpers: one that points to the DHCP server and one points to the PXE server so those requests on other subnets get serviced correctly.
To get things running it's probably easier to try to get this to work on the subnet your DHCP and PXE server are running in (so you are not also having to deal with the ip helper setup just yet). If that works, then expand you configuration to different subnets & ip helpers.

As a ps and for clarification, don't load the PDHCP on any of the NetWare servers... just have the PXE PDHCP service running on the Windows server.
The PDHCP/PXE service for ZenWorks won't understand/work with the Arconis one and visa versa.

How can I import address book from thunderbird on another computer

I just purchased a new laptop and have dowloaded Thunderbird for my e-mail as that was what I was using on desktop. I have 2 e-mail accounts, my personal e-mail addresses came thru with no difficulty however my other account the contacts in address book didn't come thru. So question is how can I get address book imported for this account too. My desktop is Windows XP and my laptop is Windows 8

The neat thing to do would be to copy the profile from the XP machine to the W8 machine. This would have transferred your messages, your account settings and your Address Book and much else.
Given that you have set up Thunderbird and have started using it, copying over the profile may not now be terribly attractive for you.
So, instead, you can export and import your Address Books.
On the XP computer, open the Address Book, select an address book (e.g. Personal Address Book), select '''Tools|Export''', select the name and location of a file to contain the exported data, choose LDIF and then Save. Repeat for each required address book. Give your LDIF files simple but meaningful names, such as PAB.ldif and CA.ldif. Don't use, for instance, ''Personal Address Book.ldif'', as this will create a second address book with the same name as one of the defaults and you won't be able to easily tell which is which.
Put the exported LDIF files where the W8 computer can see them, e.g. a USB memory stick.
On the W8 machine, open the address book, Tools|Import and select an exported LDIF file. It will import and create a new address book; you'll probably want to move the Contact data back to the usual address book. You can select all (ctrl+a) then drag-and-drop the imported Contacts to the preferred address book. Repeat for each LDIF file.
Having said that, I don't understand what you mean by "my personal e-mail addresses came thru with no difficulty however my other account the contacts in address book didn't come thru"; unless you have moved the profile folder over, I don't understand why ''any'' contacts should have transferred.
If you have in fact moved the profile folder, then I'm puzzled as to why the transfer of address books has been incomplete. However the export and import route should be able to reclaim the missing address book(s).

If you have your addresses set up in Address Book, the logical place for them, that is also the logical place to print them from.
Pages will only use one data set per page, although there are ways around this. But then that wasn't your question.

To execute a process flow with an email activity, you may need to access different host machines and ports. New security measures implemented in Oracle Database 11g Release 1 restrict access to hosts and ports. You must explicitly grant access to hosts and ports that the email activity accesses using the DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN package.
For example, the user OWBSYS needs to send an email through the mail server mail.example.com using port 25. The DBA must perform the following steps:
1. Create an Access Control List (ACL) for the user OWBSYS using the following command:
EXECUTE DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.CREATE_ACL
(’acl_for_owb_cc.xml’,’ACL for Control Center’,’OWBSYS’,’CONNECT’);
The ACL has no access control effect unless it is assigned to network target.
2. Assign the Access Control List (ACL) to a network host, and optionally specify a TCP port range. Use the following command:
EXECUTE DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.ASSIGN_ACL (’acl_for_owb_cc.xml’,’mail.example.com’,25)
3. Commit the changes made using the COMMIT command.

How to Re-Install Address Book Please?

When i open AddressBook it only shows me a blank grey box. It locks up when i click System Preferences. When i use the Address Book Widget i can search my addresses. But i cannot see the Address Book Application.
Please tell me how to re-install Address book. I tried the MacOSX Tiger disk and run the Adressbook.pkg but it says there is nothing to install.
Is there no simple Address Book download?

Is the Address Book application in your Applications folder? (The main one, not the one in your home folder)
What happened before it stopped working?
How are you starting Address Book?
If it does need reinstalling you should be able to do it as an optional installation from your installation DVD. Make sure to run the appropriate Combo updater afterwards, to bring it back up to date.

An Automator workflow can save the page in a web archive format:
First download the Save Safari Web Archive workflow.
I would add two additional actions at the beginning of the workflow, each from Automator's Safari library, so that your final workflow would look like this:
1) *Get Specified URLs* -- Deselect or use the minus sign to remove the default www.apple.com address. Open your puzzle page in Safari, make it frontmost, and click on the Current Safari Page button.
2) *Display Webpages*
3) *Run AppleScript* -- No need to modify the existing script.
4) *Get Selected Finder Items*
5) *Move Finder Items* -- The desktop is default.
Save the Workflow as File Format: application, and add it to your Login Items.
It all may be for naught however. I suspect that upon your return from vacation, you'll be disappointed to find that opening any one of the saved files will only result in opening the current day's puzzle. For example, on Tuesday April 29th, the puzzle linked from the URL you posted opened the puzzle for +that day,+ Puzzle Number 760. A quick look at the 30 Day Killer archive (scroll down the page) reveals that each day's puzzle has its own URL. The actual URL for Puzzle Number 760 is:

How to tell AE CS6 to use bundled Mocha rather than Pro?

I recently upgraded my bundled Mocha from AE CS6 to Mocha Pro 4, but for some unknown reason, it won't let me export shape data in Mocha. There seems to be no data at all, as even trying to paste in Notepad results in nothing. Tracking data, however, works fine (both in AE and Notepad).
Since I cannot figure out any solution in Mocha, the only thing I can do is use bundled Mocha rather than Pro... but I do not know how to tell AE to use bundled Mocha rather than Pro when I click 'Track In Mocha' (...a setting which was changed when Pro was installed).
Does anyone know where/how I can switch it to Mocha bundled when you click on Track In Mocha? (or, does anyone have any idea why Pro would not export shape data, whereas the same project in bundled Mocha did?)
If anyone has any answers or theories, please let me know ASAP, as I have a project I'm trying to complete, and (as luck always has it) the weekend is now upon us, and support is closed over the weekend.

Ok, then ethernet is not getting an ip address from the TC and is plugged in wrongly..
You still didn't give me any idea of what actual model the linksys is.. and why is it in the network.. Is it a modem router?? If you have cable internet just throw it away and use the TC.
If you have the linksys as modem, then bridge it.. turn off wireless and run pppoe client on the TC.
If the ISP does not allow pppoe client mode then simply use the TC in bridge. Turn off all wireless in the linksys and just use the TC.
Still need info on how everything is setup to analyse the problem.
