How to tell web host no meta tags or search words please?

I am getting ready to upload files to my new site but want to make sure there will be no search words for this site other than the URL.   I use DW4.  Thanks.

Meta tags are placed in the HTML. Your webhost has nothing to do with the content that you place on their servers, other than making it available to the world.
Look in files you created with Dreamweaver and see if you added any meta information, it would look something like this:
<meta name="typeOfMetaTagHere" content="The Actual meta info here">
If you don't see anything that starts with  <meta... then you don't have any meta information on the page.

A title and maybe a meta description belong to every single

much more important is usable and properly structured

  • How to create web hosting infrastructure

I am fairly new to MS Azure Services and would like to create my own web hosting services. My current site is "shah63.com", but i want to setup infrastructure that would allow me to add more sites by pointing domain to ns1.shah63.com and ns2.shah63.com.
Also, i want to add storage (that stores wwwroot )and database instance to the infrastructure.
Please provide me brief steps on what Azure services do i need to enable / aquire, and forward me any article or tutorial link, if available.

    You can create a
subdomain alias for a site. You could sell separate azure storage accounts. However, if you truly want to host your own server then you're talking about your own

  • Meta Tag or Search Engine related?

Most SE results only search and show what's in the
Description or Title meta tags. Do I need to do something specific
where the search engine will search the CONTENT of the pages,

    some search engines work? Thanks!

Precisely! And that's why I was careful to not refer to it as

  • Header Tags, Meta Tags, Google Search

Hi, just started using iweb 09 for the very first time, everything is common sense and easy to use but i've been pondering on how to add a header tag or a meta tag where a search engine such as google, yahoo or bing can find my website based on keywords i'd like my site to come up under. Any comments would be appreciated, thanks.

  • How do I set up Description meta tag on pages

Hi, I have set up page titles but can't see how to set up description on pages.  Any help appreciated.

    Liam,
I saw in a previous post that you mentioned that in V3, you cannot change the meta description via the properties button in the text editor (under Manage > Pages). I am having an issue with this too. I need to edit my meta description; however, when i do, the change never shows up. It only shows the initial meta description set for that page. I can't figure out any other way to change that description.
    Thanks,

  • Meta Tags:  How to Paste into iWeb pages?

I created Meta Tags on Go Daddy. I'm not really sure what Meta Tags are, but I understand they help my web site with keywords and search engines. Here's the Meta Tag codes I created (appears to be three codes).
<title>Dana Point Bodycentre for gift certificates massage skin care body treatments</title>
<meta name="description" content="Dana Point Bodycentre offers gift certificates, gift centre, day spa services for massage, skin care, body care, body treatments, medical skin care, botox, laser hair removal, med spa services and specials">
<meta name="keywords" content="Dana Point, Bodycentre, massage, skin care, gift ideas, gift certificates, gift centre, holiday, specials, book online, instant gift certificates, botox, medical skin care, laser hair removal, med spa, therapist, boutique, retail">
Go Daddy says to "paste the Meta Tag into the Header of my page." I don't understand what they mean by that. I asked them for more help, but they won't help me any further. I need to know exactly where to paste these codes? I created these codes for my Home page, so I suppose the codes go into the .HTML file, or the .file for the web folder. But where? On the .HTML file, when I open it up in Text Wrangler, I see a lengthy text of codes. Where do I paste these codes? And what is the "header" of my page mean?

NOTE 1: about Meta-Tags and Search engine optimization:
Some time ago you could "feed" search engines with words by putting them in the meta tags. Nowadays search engines ignore those tags (probably due to spamming) and only look at the content.
I never did any Meta Tags and it seems to me that my site works fine without Meta Tags on google... Google include PageTitle and PageContent and it works great without any optimisation. Another issue with Meta Tags on iWeb now is that if I publish to a folder I can add MetaTags with text editor but next time I publish to a folder iWeb will overwrite that file and Meta Tags are gone... I then would have to make them all over again... Time... Time... Time...
Bottom line: I see no need for Meta Tags
But people reading this... You're free to decide by your own... it's up to you...
    *5 TIPS:*
    -Update your sitemaps
-Make a second nav bar made of text links as previously explained
-Further use synonyms in your content. Write your content so that it fits as good as possible everything a 'googler' could search for.
-Search engines don't look for tags, they look for the content of your pages.
-In the end it’s all about three things: Content, Content and Content

    Michael,
Breget is referring to the cache maintained by Google. You can't clear or update their cache - unfortunately, all you can do is wait for your site to get crawled (which can take a couple days), and once they have gathered your meta information, they will then update the description in their SERP (which can also take a couple days).
Interestingly, I looked for your article by searching "new york companion high rise syndrome" and the first result was THIS page!!! This points to another factor which is the more popular your site, the more often it is updated. I would recommend you take a look at Google's Webmaster Tools and do a bit of research into SEO - this should help clarify things more...
    Good luck!
    Jason
P.S. - It looks like your meta information was entered correctly.

  • What is the best way to add "meta tags" in edge?

Trying to add meta tags for search engines, what are the best ways to do this?

With the latest version of Edge (3.0) is still the best practice to edit index.html or is there a better one?
    Y try for example...
    var meta1 = '<meta name="robots" content="index, follow" />';
    $(meta1).appendTo("head");
...in creationComplete or in document.compositionReady but I can't see these lines in index.html file, are stored in index_edgeActions.js file.
But maybe that works to attach the meta tags with append to head because it does work fine (and neither are saved in the index.html):
    var favicon = "<link rel='shortcut icon' href='images/volicon.png' type='image/png'/>" ;
    $(favicon).appendTo("head");
I don't know if Google detect meta tags stored in index_edgeAtions.js or is more recommended to modify index.html manually with notepad.
Maybe the best practice are save and publish Edge project with a name different than index (for example project.an and project.html) and to create an index.html manually with meta tags, code of Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, etc., and with HTML meta http-equiv Attribute for to redirect immediately to project.html generate with Edge (remember disallow project.html in robots.txt). In this way is not necessary to modify the index.html file each time that we publish.

  • How to creat  Web Templet

    Hi Team
How to creat  Web Templet and what purpose we were using ,, please suggest me  asap
    regards
    trupti.

    Hi,
Using the BEx Web Application Designer, you can create a BEx Web application (an HTML page with BI-specific content) easily.
    Procedure
           1.      Creating a Web Template
The Web template is the starting point for creating a Web application. The Web template is an XHTML document that is used to define the structure of a Web application. It contains placeholders for Web items, data providers, and commands. A Web template becomes a Web application when the data is displayed in the Web browser.
During the design process, you change the Web template by embedding placeholders for Web items and data providers. You can keep track of these changes in the XHTML view.
To create a new Web template, you have the following options:
&#9675;       In the menu of the Web Application Designer, choose Web Template ® New. A dialog box appears. Choose Blank Web Template.
&#9675;       Choose Create New Blank Web Template in the upper area to the right in the initial Web Application Designer view.
&#9675;       In the Web Application Designer tool bar, choose  with the quick info text New.
           2.      Setting the data binding/selection of the data provider
The data for your Web items is provided by data providers that you create in the Web Application Designer. You can assign a data provider to multiple Web items. The data provider concept makes it possible to change the data source of a Web item easily. If a particular data provider is assigned to more than one Web item, any changes made affect all the assigned Web items. By means of navigation (by changing the drilldown), the Web item always displays the current drilldown data.
A data provider is a dynamic object that returns current data for one or more Web items at runtime. You define the start view of the data provider by selecting a query or a query view. For more information about data providers, see Working with Data Providers.
There are several ways to create data providers:
                                a.      Using the Data Provider pushbutton in the Web Items screen area
                                                      i.       Select whether you want to create a data provider of type Filter or type Query View, and drag the corresponding line into the lower data provider section of the Web template screen area. The Maintain Data Provider dialog box appears.
ii.       Assign a name to the data provider and make the remaining settings.
In the dropdown box beneath the name field, you can also select or change the data provider type.
                                b.      Using the New Data Provider icon in the lower data provider section of the Web Template screen area
                                                      i.       Double-click to choose New Data Provider. The Maintain Data Provider dialog box appears.
ii.       Proceed as described under a. ii.
                                c.      Using the General tab page in the Properties screen area
You can only use this option if you have already inserted a Web item into your Web template.
                                                      i.       In the header of the properties screen area, select the Web item for which you want to create a data provider.
ii.       On the General tab page, choose New Data Provider. The Maintain Data Provider dialog box appears. Proceed as described under a. ii.
The data provider is assigned to the selected Web item. You can also create more than one data provider, as described under c. The data providers are listed in the dropdown box under Assigning Data Providers. This enables you to assign a different data provider to the selected Web item.
The New Data Provider dialog box appears under data provider . You can modify or change the settings for the data provider here.
When you have created a data provider, it is assigned to the inserted Web item. Assigning depends on the order of the data providers in the inner structure of the Web template. See also 4.a.
           3.      Adding a Web item
The Web items in the Web Items screen area are used as templates. By dragging a Web item into your Web template, you create an actual version of the Web item; this is called an object. The Web item has a name and certain other default parameters that you can change as required (see also 4.).
You see the changes in the XHTML view. A Web item tag for the Web item and a data provider tag for the data provider (assuming you have created a data provider) were integrated into the XHTML as placeholders. Change the name of the Web item and assign a data provider to it. In the XHTML view, you can see that your settings have been written to the Web item tag. The layout you choose is also applied in the XHTML.
                                a.      Drag a Web item from one of the Web item groupings Standard, Advanced, or Miscellaneous in the Web Items screen area to the Web template by using drag and drop. The Web item appears in the Web template.
Underneath the selection area for Web items and data provider maintenance, you see the help area, which provides explanations for the Web items and data providers. To display the texts for a Web item, select the Web item by double-clicking with the secondary mouse button. To hide the texts, proceed in the same way. When you hide the display of texts and select a Web item by clicking it, a quick info is displayed for the Web item.
                                b.      If you want to rename the inserted Web item, proceed as follows:
In the Settings area of the screen, choose the Rename Web Item button to the right of the dropdown box in which the added Web items are listed. Name the Web item by overwriting the predefined text for Name in the Properties screen area next to the dropdown box where the added Web items are listed.
           4.      Specifying the properties of the Web item
                                a.      In the Properties screen area, choose the General tab page to make or change the assignment of a data provider for the corresponding Web item. See also 2.
                                b.      Choose the Web Item Parameters tab page to set the parameters for the selected Web item.
You can also set the parameters for the Chart Web item using the Edit Chart dialog box. Choose Edit in the context menu of the Chart Web item or Edit Chart in the Internal Display parameter grouping of the Chart Web item. For more information, see Editing Charts.
           5.      Adding additional Web items
To insert additional Web items, repeat steps 3 and 4.
&#9679;        When you insert additional Web items using Insert ® Web Item, pay attention to where you position the cursor in your Web template. The cursor position determines where the new Web item is inserted. See also Designing the Layout of Web Templates. When you insert Web items using drag and drop, the position of the cursor is irrelevant.
&#9679;        Make sure that you set the data binding and any Web-item-specific parameter settings for the correct Web item. To make settings for a Web item, select the Web item in the layout view. In the header of the Properties window, the system displays the Web item for which you can change the settings. As an alternative to selecting the individual Web items, you can use the dropdown box to toggle between the attributes of individual Web items.
           6.      Designing a Web template layout
In the Web Application Designer, you create your Web template in the same way you do in various XHTML editors. See also Designing the Layout of Web Templates.
           7.      Changing the Web template properties
                                a.      To change the default properties of the Web template, select the Web template from the dropdown box in the Properties screen area.
                                b.      Choose the Web Template Parameters tab page, where you can change the parameter settings for the Web template.
For more information, see Web Template Properties.
           8.      Saving and executing the Web template
You execute the Web template in the Web browser (portal). The Web template becomes a Web application, which means the template is saved on the Application Server for ABAP and a URL is generated for this Web application.
At runtime (triggered by calling the URL), the BI tags are replaced by corresponding HTML with the information determined by the Web item and data provider settings. When this is done, the Web template on the Application Server for ABAP is accessed. Therefore, you must save your Web template before you execute it.
                                a.      To save your Web template, in the menu bar of the Web Application Designer, choose Web Template ® Save.
                                b.      Choose Web Template ® Execute to view your Web application in the browser (portal).
You must save the Web template before executing it in the Web browser. Therefore, when you execute the template, you are asked to save it if you have not already done so.
&#9679;        To assign a Web template to a role, choose Web Template ® Publish ® In Role. See also Role Maintenance.
&#9679;        To copy the URL of a Web template to the clipboard, choose Web Template ® Publish ® Copy URL to Clipboard. The Web template, however, must already be saved.
&#9679;        To broadcast a Web template, choose Web Template ® Publish ® BEx Broadcaster.  For more information, see Precalculating and Broadcasting Queries, Query Views, Web Templates, and Reports.
    Result
Your Web application is started and displayed in the portal, which in turn runs in a Web browser.
If you want to print your Web application, choose Print in the context menu for the executed Web application.

  • Do I need to insert meta tags on domain if it redirects to web.mac page?

    Hi,
I've set up a domain (http://www.blossomsolutions.ca) with Internic.ca in Canada and filled out a very easy form to redirect to http://web.mac.com/blossomsolutions. Through this excellent forum I learned how to insert meta tags into all my pages on the web.mac site using text edit successfully.
Now, I'm wondering, will search engines find me if I have "no code" or meta tags at www.blossomsolutions.ca? Internic is only "redirecting" my URL not hosting it. It costs more money if they "host" my domain and I wouldn't have a clue how to set up an index.html page anyway for this domain. Even if I got someone to do this can you redirect an index.html page from blossomsolutions.ca to a web.mac.com page? i.e. does the domain code need to be empty in order for it to redirect?
Thanks to anyone who can help me with this.

    Hello Kathleen,
Welcome to the forum. You're site looks very clean and elegant.
The domain name you purchased (http://www.blossomsolutions.ca/) is serving as a redirecting page to your iWeb generated web page. The answer to whether or not search engines will find you is both yes and no. Search engines use programs called "spiders" that find pages through links and trace out web pages.
Given some time, sites like Google and MSN will likely find you website (and if you put meta tags in it will display that info in the search engine). But if you are like most iWeb users (myself included) you are impatient for your site to be picked up in search engines. Which is fine, since several search engines provide the means for you to submit your URL. Read this post for more information. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3905977&#3905977
Looks like you may have already submitted your .mac page.
Another handy tip for looking up what information a search engine posses on your site is to type "site:" followed by the web address you wish to look up into a search engine. If the search engine has any of the pages to your site it will display them with the meta data they posses. Your site info can be found here. http://www.google.com/search?q=site:http://web.mac.com/blossomsolutions
I checked your .ca address and google didn't come up with anything.
Internic.ca should provide you with the means to apply a little bit of a description to your web address. Apart from that, you can't really add any meta data to the domain name.
Unfortunately even when you get both web addresses picked up by search engines it won't associate them together. They may come up near each other in searches. But the search engine will see them as entirely different sites.
You could host your site at the domain name if you chose to. The process of publishing is one click like to .mac. But you "Publish to a Folder" and then upload the complete page to the domain name. Its more difficult and cost more (if you chose to retain your .mac account) but it would give you better search engine rankings for your name.
—"It costs more money if they "host" my domain and I wouldn't have a clue how to set up an index.html page anyway for this domain. Even if I got someone to do this can you redirect an index.html page from blossomsolutions.ca to a web.mac.com page? i.e. does the domain code need to be empty in order for it to redirect?"
It isn't really worth it have them host your domain name only to put an index.html that redirects to your .mac. Thats basically what the domain forwarding is doing (minus a little bit of info).
My advice is to keep things how you have them. But, just make sure you get the domain submitted to search engines.
Hope this wasn't to long or confusing.

  • Can't get a web page to validate with meta tags with w3c??

and this is what w3c says when I try to validate the page:
Line 5, Column 131: there is no attribute "fttp-equiv"
    …mputers, swimming" /><meta fttp-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; chars…

You have used the attribute named above in your document, but the document type you are using does not support that attribute for this element. This error is often caused by incorrect use of the "Strict" document type with a document that uses frames (e.g. you must use the "Transitional" document type to get the "target" attribute), or by using vendor proprietary extensions such as "marginheight" (this is usually fixed by using CSS to achieve the desired effect instead).
This error may also result if the element itself is not supported in the document type you are using, as an undefined element will have no supported attributes; in this case, see the element-undefined error message for further information.
How to fix: check the spelling and case of the element and attribute, (Remember XHTML is all lower-case) and/or check that they are both allowed in the chosen document type, and/or use CSS instead of this attribute. If you received this error when using the <embed> element to incorporate flash media in a Web page, see the FAQ item on valid flash.
What in the world does this mean, because I am seriously lost on this, and the only way I could get around this was to completely remove the entire line, "<meta name="" content="Zachariah Lloyd, basketball, computers" /><meta fttp-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />", which removed all of my meta tags completely, in order to validate it?? I cannot see what is setting this thing off like that, I have never gottena validation error before, and I now know that they are written as meaningless gibberish that does not even remotely explain what is wrong, at least not to me....
    Please help!!!!

Line 4 and line 5 are trying to do the same thing. Take out the
    <meta fttp-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
line entirely and you will be good.

  • How do I add Meta tags to my website

I have produced a website in i web and published it to my .mac account.
I need to know how to add meta tags to get it recognised by the search engines.
The company I am using to do this want the ftp info. As I upload directly to my .mac account I am not sure what they need. Can you help please?

I think I may have a good workaround here, not sure how it will work with .mac as I dont use it, I am in control of my default page within Apache.
Create your site as normal within Iweb and publish it.
Outside of iWeb create your site's real default homepage by hand, that contains the meta tags and that redirects to your iWeb homepage. In this way any Search engine hits to your site will hit the external page first, reading the meta tags then get redirected to your real home page. Not ideal of course but at least you don't have to keep an eye on your metatag's being overwritten by republishing your homepage.
Here is the code from mine, it appears to work:
    +<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://+
    +www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><title></t+
    +itle><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= Welcome.html" />+
    +<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="enter,your,keywords,here">
    +<META NAME="description" CONTENT="description of your website">+
    </head><body></body></html>
This page will redirect to the "Welcome.html" page created in iWeb.
    Hope this helps.
