How to tell which model G3 powerbook I have?

I recently purchased an older PowerBook G3 Series, but I don't have a Power Supply for it. Additionally, since the currently installed battery is dead (no charge on it), I don't have power to boot it up and use the system profiler to help me, either. Thus, I'm not completely positive of the specific model/processor I have, and I can't power it up to find out. So I don't know which model power supply to purchase. I've tried to get the specs by using the Apple Serial number, but when I type the serial number in at Apple's website, the website doesn't recognize the serial number (CK8191M8CVA). Just as a note here, this is the original serial number from the botton of the case ID tag. Just wanted to add that last bit of info to this post, in the hopes someone knows how to how to find out the answer to that question. That's for youe info.
Ernest Banz ([email protected])

Hi. First, if the Apple product is 7 years or older, it won't find the info on the machine on Apple Support. Try to find the Model number on the bottom of the PowerBook (an example: M2453 is the Original iBook). Then many places such as www.lowendmac.com or www.everymac.com have the info on the PowerBook. Also, to make it easier to search, do you know what type of PowerBook G3 it is? It could be the Original G3, Pismo, Wallstreet, or Lombard. Hope this helps!

  • How to tell which model?

    I am trying to identify exactly which model MacBook my friend has. I emailed a copy of her System Profile to my laptop, figuring that's all I needed. Her machine is no longer available to me to look at.
    Well, she has a white MacBook that fits two closely related models and I can't tell which one hers is just using the Profile. It is either the Apple MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 13" (White/06) Specs (MA700LL/A) or the Apple MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 13" (White/07) Specs (MB061LL/A). I can't find a part number in the Profile. The main difference seems to be that the standard optical drive for the 06 was a 6x Superdrive and for the 07 was an 8x Combo drive. The Disc Burning subsection of the Profile is:
    Firmware Revision: BE38
    Interconnect: ATAPI
    Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
    Media: To show the available burn speeds, insert a disc and choose View > Refresh
    I'm not really clear on what this stuff means. It looks to me as though it must be a Superdrive, which would make her MacBook the 06 model. Can anyone tell me definitively?

    Possibly a quicker solution: plug her serial number into the online service assistant and it should tell you the resulting model.

  • Unstructured Name Parser - How to tell which Classification or Reclassification rules have been applied to a Name

    I am using the EDQ Unstructured Name Parser and have a Name value that isn't getting parsed.  I would like to know how the engine is classifying it or reclassifying it in order to set up some reclassification rules of my own to ensure that it gets resolved correctly.
    The name is something like Thomas J. Hamilton,Jr  ... I would expect it to classify as <valid Given>_<valid Initial>_<valid Family><P><valid Suff>.  Given a data record, how can I trace it back to see how it was classified and resolved?

    Hi Aaron,
    For starters, you can change the parser to run in "Parse and Profile" mode in the Advanced Settings in order to output more intermediate metadata. Then I'd recommend filtering the data going into parser to isolate the record you're interested in. Either sample data in the reader in the run preferences or just insert a value check processor before the Parser.
    Run the process through against and then look at the various steps of parsing in the different tabs of the results browser (Base tokenization, classification, unclassified tokens, etc.)
    regards,
    Nick

  • How to tell: Which version of camera raw do I have?

    How to tell which version of camera raw I have? The only Google search I found answering this question refers to is 2 years old and seems to no longer apply. There is no File, Edit etc. menu on the new version of Camera Raw with (Photoshop/Bridge CS6). I do use Adobe Application Manager to do my updates telling me if a new version exists or not, nevertheless I would like to know.

    The F key works as described for me in CS6-ACR7.4 with ACR as the window with focus.  The same function is available using the double-arrow-window icon at the right of the Preview checkbox near the top right of the preview area.
    When in full-screen mode there is no title bar, but when I press the F key or click the double-arrow, again, ACR becomes smaller and I can see the title bar that includes the ACR version and camera model.  This is on Windows7-64-bit on a 1600x1050 monitor.  Perhaps you’re ACR’s title bar is off the top of the screen so you can’t see it, or maybe ACR optimizes some things if you have a smallish display—do you?
    A plug-in is a program that interfaces with another program but is not independently runnable application, itself, bit is independently updatable, so in this instance, Photoshop doesn’t need to be downloaded and installed every time Adobe adds support for a few more cameras.

  • How to find which model of iPhone 5 I am using? and is that GSM or CDMA?

    How to find which model of iPhone 5 I am using? A1428 or A1429 ? Is there any short code you can dial in and check the model number ?
    And which is GSM or CDMA out of this model.

    If you purchased the phone in the US with an AT&T contract then you have the locked CDMA A1428 version of the iPhone 5.
    At the moment and if the contract is a new contact, then you won't be able to get the phone unlocked at the moment and no, you won't be able to use it in your home country.  You will also have LTE 4G compatibility issues too and your phone will only work on 3G and also you need to remember that iPhones are only covered by country specific warranty, so it is only covered in the US, so if you go home and then have a problem with your phone, you will have to come back to the US to get it repaired.
    You need to approach AT&T about whether they will unlock your phone for you as they are the ONLY ones that can do it, but the answer to your question is no and if you had wanted to use your phone at home, then you should not have purchased it in the US.  The best that you can hope for at the moment is to use it on international/roaming.
    If you purchased your phone in the US, then it will be a CDMA phone.  You don't have a GSM phone, but GSM phones are unlocked anyway and these are the ones that are selling in Canada and the UK.
    If you have your phone on an AT&T contract then ultimately, AT&T are the only ones who can help you with any questions regarding unlocking and they are the only ones who can unlock it for you, noone else.

    You can do a filter on your library with "File Status" is "Missing". The "File Status" query is not available by default, but you can add it by clicking the upper-right button in the filter window.

  • How to tell which JButton is clicked?

    I have a layout with 3 panels. Each panel has an 'Add' button inside it. However, I can't work out how to tell which 'Add' button has been clicked by the user. Normally I would put code to select from the text on the button, but this time they are all the same. Any ideas how I can do it?

    DrLaszloJamf: Do you have a simple example that you
    could post? I thought all
    ActionListeners/MouseListeners in the same class had
    to be dealt with in the same place.I'll give you an example in a mo', but here's another solution if you really
    want one ActionListener to listen to multiple sources: explicitly set the
    button's actionCommand strings. This string defaults to the button's text,
    but can be explicitly set to anything you want. This is useful, for obvious
    reasons, if you are writing a multilingual app (I'm Canadian, so that's
    part of the furniture).
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Example implements ActionListener {
        private static final String MUG_COMMAND = "mug";
        private static final String WUMP_COMMAND = "wump";
        public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent event) {
            String actionCommand = event.getActionCommand();
            if (MUG_COMMAND.equals(actionCommand))
                System.out.println("doing mug action");
            else if (WUMP_COMMAND.equals(actionCommand))
                System.out.println("doing wump action");
            else
                System.out.println("neither mug nor wump: " + actionCommand);
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            ActionListener app = new Example();
            JPanel contentPane = new JPanel();
            JButton button1 = new JButton("add");
            button1.setActionCommand(MUG_COMMAND);
            button1.addActionListener(app);
            contentPane.add(button1);
            JButton button2 = new JButton("add");
            button2.setActionCommand(WUMP_COMMAND);
            button2.addActionListener(app);
            contentPane.add(button2);
            JButton button3 = new JButton("add");
            button3.addActionListener(app);
            contentPane.add(button3);
            JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true);
            final JFrame f = new JFrame("Mugwump");
            f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            f.setContentPane(contentPane);
            f.pack();
            SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable(){
                public void run() {
                    f.setLocationRelativeTo(null);

  • How can I know which model of K9A2VM I have?

    I have a K9A2VM motherboard with an Athlon 64 x2 3600+ AM2 CPU. I would now like to upgrade to an AM3 Phenom II CPU with lots and lots of cores.
    However, I have a problem. I don't know if I have K9A2VM-FD or K9A2VM-FIH and I don't know how to find out. I've opened my box and looked at the card, but it only says K9A2VM. By reading the specs and looking at pictures, I know it has to be one of them, or at least that it is not K9A2VM-F V2 since it only has two RAM slots and I have four of them installed. There are other obvious differences too, which I can easily spot by looking at the picture.
    Now, looking at the CPU support page for -FD and -FIH, they seem to have differences in what CPUs they support:
    -FD at least supports an X6: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K9A2VM-FD.html#/?div=CPUSupport
    Phenom II X6    Thuban    HDT90ZFBK6DGR    1090T    200    3.20    3M    6M    E0    125    7501v1B.zip
    But the -FIH CPU support page is different: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K9A2VM-FIH.html#/?div=CPUSupport
    If I can use that processor, I'm really happy. But -FIH doesn't seem to support Phenom II at all. So provided that the information in the CPU support page is correct, it's fairly important to me to know which model I have. But in case nobody knows how I can distinguish between them; if I buy a Phenom II X6 CPU and it turns out that my motherboard doesn't support it; what is the worst thing that can happen? Will I break the CPU or motherboard, or will it simply not work, but the hardware will still be fine?
    Thanks.

    So this is a MS-7501 Version 1.0 card, in addition to being a K9A2VM. The entire web refers to it as "K9A2VM-FD / FHI". One will work, and the other will go up in smoke. And there is no easy way to know which is which. So how can I know? The reason I bought this card was so I could upgrade the CPU at a later time. Now it seems that's not possible, because the available information is so very poor. I've never had to gamble when purchasing hardware from other vendors. Is this common for MSI?

  • How to tell which maps are the latest?

    I have Maps v3.01 loaded on my 6710 Navigator (came with free worldwide licence) and Map Loader v3.0.28 on my PC.
    How do I tell which maps are loaded on my Nokia and what version/date the maps availalble on Map Loader are?
    Map Loader does not state which maps are already on my phone, nor does it state the date or version of the maps which can be uploaded.
    Obviously, I'd like to install newer versions of my country map if and when it is available, but how do I know which version is available and which I already have?
    Ovi.com does not seem to be the answer either as all maps were downloaded using Map Loader.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    If you already have a free worldwide license and V 3.01 is working well for you then you are right to leave it for the moment. I hear of problems  searching for addresses etc with V3.03.  Can always update later when everything is sorted.
    I believe if you delete all your maps and then use Ovi Suite to download new maps, Ovi Suite will at least tell you what maps you have on your phone. I haven;t tried it myself because I can't stand Ovi Suite.
    Speed warning is available for Ireland but just like you I have to import the speed camera locations as landmarks. Hopefully, we will see these as new features in future updates.
