How to test swf on another computer

I created a fla with a little bit of action script to test
our new FMS3 server. I use Adobe CS3 on a MAC. Everything works
fine, the server sees the client etc. When I try to open the same
file on another computer (Windows) I only see the buttons for pause
and play, but no video/audio. What is wrong?

Unless I am not supposed to be able to open the file by
double clicking the html file that was created when I published the
fla? I thought I was supposed to put the swf in the web server, the
web guy is to embed it in his html. I just thought if I double
clicked it that was a way to test it from a computer that didn't
actually create it.

Hi all, my wife has an ibook that I initialized thinking it would help when installing a 9.2.2 that she was having problems with. It didn't as somehow the disc still will not install, it says programme will not run on computer. Now there is nothing at all in the computer so will have to reinstall the OS X.

I want know how to play my I pod on another computer without losing my music or movies.

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:

Bo it doesn't tell em to switch. And honestly, I wouldnt want to...I dont like the new version at all.
What does show up is a couple of songs from my brother's computer that I used on holiday but no error messages or anything. I didn't think this would be so complicated...
When i look at the space used up on my nano I can see that my songs are still on it...they're just not showing up. Itunes recognizes the nano but the songs dont show.

Nevertheless, you need to start with an installation of Oracle software (RDBMS, Binaries) on the new test server. You would have to install the same Oracle RDBMS Release and Version as the one that is running in your production server (where the backup was taken). If the third party software incorporates media management libraries, you'd need to install and configure them as well. Thereafter, the restore command depends on how the backup is done.

This is much more complicated than it need be - Adobe should make a Migrate command that moves the entire show. Users can then deselect options as to what to copy or simply copy wholesale. Don't you think?

How do I find out another computer's IP address on the network?

About ten minustes ago, I noticed a PC appearing on our local Airport network. Since the network is password protected, it startled me. That computer has no business on our network, and since sometimes internet is extremely slow and we even got an email once from some copyright reinforcer, I'm scared that this PC is the PC that might have illegally downloaded movies using our network. I tried to find ways to search for its IP, so I might be able to block it or something. However, I have no idea how to find its IP address, nor do I have any idea how to search for information of computers on the network. Could anybody offer a helping hand in that?

the first step would of course be to change the password wireless network. using WPA2 and a long, non-dictionary password should make your network reasonably secure.
also, ensure your wireless router is password protected (screen shots from my time capsule)
assuming the wireless router creating your network is an Apple product, launch airport utility (in applications > utilities) and enter manual setup for the device. in the summary tab, click on wireless clients
the next window will reveal the MAC addresses of wireless clients connected to your network
you could use the access control tab to allow/restrict access to your network by MAC address.

How to remove SWFs under another SWF?

I'm using the following code to link to other pages:

Now the code works fine and such, this is more of something I'm curious about!
When I use that code, I'm assuming that 'biology.swf' is simply placed over the current SWF that is open (as I can still hear the music even though I've gone away from that particular page). Is this correct?
And then I'm just wondering if there is a simple way to remove that current SWF and replace it with the new one ('biology.swf)? (I use this code in various pages to link them all together, and I think the more a user navigates around the pages it really slows down the whole program!)
I have slight knowledge that in Actionscript 2 you assigned a SWF to a particular layer, but I'm not sure how to go about it in AS3!
Any help is appreciated! (I'm a beginner so please forgive my ignorance!)

Assuming that this is on the main timeline, I suggest creating sprites that hold each one of the SWFS that you create, so then you can have something like the following:
     var bioHolder:Sprite;
public function addBiologyPage( _url:String ):void{
     if( !bioHolder) //holder doesn't exist? create it
          bioHolder = new Sprite();
     var loadPage:Loader = new Loader();     //create new loader
     this.addChild( bioHolder );     //ad holder to parent
     bioHolder.addChild( loadPage ); //add loader to holder
     loadPage.load(new URLRequest( _url ) ); //load loader
private function removeBioPage():void{
     this.removeChild( bioHolder );
     bioHolder.removeAllChildren();
     bioHolder = null;
That should let you add and remove pages as needed. Then you could set up an array that holds the holder Sprites if you have alot / dynamic pages that you need to manage.
