How to test Windows 2012 R2 DHCP Failover without shutting down the service?

How can I test the Win2012R2 DHCP Failover?
There is a command or script, that i could use to test if DHCP failover is working properly?
How to monitor the sync of the objects?
How to make sure that it will do the job, if required?
Or i have to really stop DHCP server main server and see the failover?

Hello,
you have to keep in mind that this has ONLY effect for machines that request during the downtime a lease. So if your lease time is for example 8 hours a computer will ask after 4 hours for the renewal of the lease.
Means there is no problem for running machines during the test. You just need a computer to start after the service is shutdown on the first DHCP server, should take only some minutes to check if the fail over works. Then you could already start the service
again if you see the lease on the new server.

  • Shutting down the database in Windows...

I just read that shutting down the database by directly stopping the Oracle Service (instead of using the shutdown command from sqlplus) will abruptly stop your database, and the database will have to perform an instance recovery upon restarting.
This hasn't been my experience at all. I was under the impression shutting down the service was equal to a shutdown immediate.
    Any comments?

They will perform the same operation. You can do a test and prove it to your colleague.
    With each method you'll notice:
Completed: alter database close normalin the alert log and you shouldn't see any "crash recovery" messages in the alert log when you restart the database. However, if you manually do a shutdown abort, you may notice a message as

  • How to test if remote R/3 system (Receiver) is down in case of Async RFC ?

    Hi Experts,
How to test if remote R/3 system (Receiver) is down in case of Async RFC call? There is no BPM as well. I have configured an alert category and created a rule in runtime workbench's Alert Configuration for the specific inbound interface.
I have tried by stopping the channel and also by changing the server name in the communication channel but all in vail. XI still shows message successfully processed.
      Kindly help me
    Thanks
    Gopal

    Hi,
How to test system down in XI? Kindly help!
    Have answered here as well.
Meanwhile, you would have an error in the receiver RFC adapter in Comm Channel Monitoring.
Maybe you change another RFC adapter rather than the one being used in the receiver agreement.

How to remove black "blocked plug-in" window that opens with iPhoto. It covers iPhoto and everything under it. I've right and left clicked the black window, restarting the computer, shutting down the computer, but the window always appears when I open iPhoto and it will not move or go away. It stays on my screen (covering my desktop icons) even after I quit iPhoto. How can I get it off my screen?

Which version if iPhoto and MacOS X do you have?
Do you have any iPhoto plug-ins  installed?
    Open the folder /Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Plugins/
To navigate to that folder, open the folder "Library" directly on your Macintosh HD, then inside the Library folder go to Application Support, then iPhoto.  Is there anything installed?

I'm getting kernel panics each day as I shut down, the message of restarting by holding down the power button appears on the screen - it began about a month ago and. Do you have any ideas of how to solve the problem? I've copied the logs that I found for each kernel panic that still have the message logged. Please help if you can, I have read some of the other comments and perhaps it has something to do with my anti-virus software being on at start up. I have copied the log here. Any advice will be welcome.

Immediate suspects are the additions you added to you rsystem that installed kexts (drivers).  From above,
    com.intego.iokit.VBX6NKE            1
    com.intego.iokit.BehavioralKext            1
    com.intego.kext.VirusBarrier.AppBarrierKPI            10.6.8

    com.globaldelight.driver.BoomDevice            1.1
    com.huawei.driver.HuaweiDataCardACMData            4.2
    Two experiments you can try.
    1.  Boot in safe mode and see if you can shut down normally.  All thise additions won't be running in safe mode so this test would indicate it is one of them causing the problem.
    2. Uninstall all the intego VirusBarrier stuff.  That's my first guess and the troublemaker.

To prevent application windows (not Finder windows) from reopening on restart, simply close all open applications, then use the Get Info dialog "Locked" checkbox to lock this plist (not the lockfile by the same name),
    ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.loginwindow.*.plist
where "~" is your home folder, and "*" is a string of characters (12 in my case). This plist is where the System stores "reopen windows" info, so the System can't change/delete it if it is locked. Works fine for me and others.

You cannot merge Apple ID accounts, that has never been supported.
You can contact the Apple ID Security folks per the listing in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 and they can help reset security questions and get the account working.

No, you simply do not.  Apple does not sell insurance.
Apple offers an Extended Warranty called AppleCare.
Warranties doe not cover lost or stolen devices.  Buy a new one.

Try to "Force Quit" Safari - either under the Apple menu or by holding down option-Command-esc.

I cannot quit mail for some reason. How can I shut it down?
I need to do this before I can shut down the computer.

To Force Quit a program go to the Apple Logo item in the menu bar and select Force Quit. Select the program from the list and click Force Quit.
To Hard Power down it is the same as Wintel. Press the power button until the system Turns Off. Not the best solution but needed sometimes. Yes even on a Mac.

  • Windows 8.1 wont standby or shut down

    Hi.
    I have a laptop (Clevo P150EM) with Win 8.1.
    CPU: Intel i7
    Ram: 32gb
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro (newest firmware, newest samsung magician)
    HDD: Yes, 1tb
    Graphic: Nvidia gtx680m
When shutting down or putting to standby the screen goes black but the system is still on... I can hear the fans going.
I suddenly got the same problem when I had Win 8. When upgrading to Win 8.1 the problem disappeared. But now the problem came back. I dont know what I did to get it. Maybe some new drivers?
I have all updates from Intel Updater and Windows Update.
I there a way to start some kind of logging to see what wont shut down?

Please run shutdown and standby at the same time.  So far it appears MSE is one of the culprits and nvvsvc.exe.  The first Defender, the second Nvidia.
In order to diagnose your computers issue please follow the below instructions
Before you do I suggest you at least make a restore point or backup (Just in case)
Install the WPT (windows Performance Toolkit) http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/4847.install-the-windows-performance-toolkit-wpt.aspx ,
Open an elevated command prompt and run the applicable trace.
    For boot tracing: (slow boot)
xbootmgr -trace boot -traceFlags BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER -resultPath C:\TEMP
Note, in Windows 8 it is safe to use the DRIVERS flag, the Windows 7 bug is fixed in Windows 8.
    For shutdown tracing: (slow shutdown)
xbootmgr -trace shutdown -noPrepReboot -traceFlags BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER -resultPath C:\TEMP
For Standby+Resume: (issues when resuming from sleep)
xbootmgr -trace standby -traceFlags BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER -resultPath C:\TEMP
For Hibernate+Resume: (issues when resuming from hibernation)
xbootmgr -trace hibernate -traceFlags BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER -resultPath C:\TEMP
All of these will shutdown, hibernate, or standby your computer and then reboot to finish tracing.
After you login to your PC, the new startscreen is shown and you have to click to the desktop to see countdown timer.
Again, wait until the timer finishes. After it does you can find the trace in C:\TEMP.
Find the trace>compress it>upload it to skydrive (or some other file sharing service)>give us a link to it on the upload site

  • Windows installation interrupted as Equium A300D shuts down by itself

    Dear all,
I have had my Toshiba Equium A300D for 2 years now. During this time, it works normally, occasionally shuts down by itself maye because it was too hot.
Recently, it tried to install updates from Windows but never successful. I left the computer to update for the whole night and it was still 2 out of 12 updates ... all the time so I always had to shut the computer down by pressing the power key.
I was unable to change the setting to update Windows automatically because everytime I tried to do that it froze. Most other commands became nonresponsive even viewing pictures.
It was until my computer was unable to connect to a certain wireless network while other devices can that I decided to reinstall Windows completely. It was installing normally but it got too hot and the computer shuts itself again!!!
I tried to install again and it shut itself down again, but I got into the final stage of set up so when I turned it on again, it was still "finihing the installation may take several mins. lease do not interrupt or shut down the computer". I left it on for several hours but it didnt move to any different stage. Before the computer shuts itself down I think I got to the stage after this.
I tried to press F8 to begin a new installation but it only got into this screen.
    What can I do?
Please help me! Thank you a lot in advance!
I am in Germany at the moment but I live and bought this computer from the UK.

I was installing using Toshiba Recovery inside the laptop, not with an external Windows disk.
Can I download it somewhere on the Toshiba website?
