How to to record ProRes HQ movie on pc machine with Sony HDCAM

Hello,
I have a 75min HD movie in Apple pro res HQ format that I need to transfer to a HDCAM tape.
Place where I work has one of those Sony recorders connected to a PC/Windows computer and running Avid Nitris.
I want to pass by avid conversion and record straight to HDCAM. Is it possible to do this with Quicktime player with ProResdecoder installed? Or is there another little app that could read prores QT movie on windows and control HDCAM deck in order to layback this movie file.

It is a PC/Windows machine with Avid software/hardware on it. No chance of FCP
What I don't like in this whole story is that Avid software always need to convert file to avid format before you can play it back.
There is no some Sony software player that connect to it's deck?
Or if I need to convert, what format/settings would preserve the quality of Pro Res HQ?

Is there an option I need to click or a specific resolution I need to record in so I can clip parts of videos?

Not that way, no. As to how you could do it, the hosts here don't like discussion of such things... Movie studios would be disturbed at the idea of putting their movies in the iTunes Store if the Apple site was being used to discuss potential piracy methods.

The iPad us a data-only SIM, not a voice and data SIM that iPhones use.

I've tried with quicktime but the quality is bad, probably because quicktime also records enviromental sounds and noises. Any suggestions?

Recently bought a Sony Bravia smart tv with wifi and I want to play my iTunes movies on it. Do I need to load an some apple app on the tv?

How to process records one by one(not in parallel) with LSMW(BAPI)

We loaded a batch of records (around 800) in lsmw with biz object method(BAPI).
The records were processed in parallel and this caused some locking issue.
Is there any way to make sure the records in LSMW with biz object method(BAPI) are processed one by one to avoid this kind of locking issue.
Any reply is appreciated.

I think there must be something to increase the lead time so that locking doesn't happen and it should be either part of customizing or can be coded,not sure exactly what code as in SAP GUI Scripting also there is a way to increase the lead time to avoid the locking issues.

I use iMovie and have QT pro. I want to make a movie with a link in the end of the video: " See more here". Clicking it ( on the video window) would open my website.
Then I want publish it in flv. format, because some people can't use Quicktime.

Frequently when I use a touchpad or tilt wheel mouse to scroll horizontally, the web page does not scroll at all. Instead, the text cursor moves left or right. If the text box is off-screen, the page will jump to it, losing the spot on the page I was reading. This happens way too often given the sensitivity of touchpads and tilt wheel mice.
I'd like to just disable the cursor movement function of the horizontal scroll. I don't feel that it is useful and it actually hurts my web browsing experience. I do not want to disable horizontal scrolling though; I just want it to always scroll horizontally and do nothing else.

You would make this a little easier if you posted a link to the page.
Most of the jump seems to be some extra padding or margin between the tabs when you rollover, but I am not able to find it. Is there any other css that is governing this page? I did remove a couple of <p></p> set of tags you had and it improved the jump, but it is still there.
If the page is live, run it through the validator http://validator.w3.org/ , fix whatever errors it finds, if you still have the jump, post a link to the page and the issue might get found.

How can i get purchased iTunes movies to play smooth with no lag?

When i try to play a video that i purchased from iTunes it runs really slow whereas other videos that I have downloaded onto my computer run at the normal rate through iTunes. It seems to only be the videos purchased from iTunes that skip and run slow. Is there anything i can do to make the files run smoother?

The lag may be caused by settings on your computer, or it could be that your computer doesn't meet the video requirements for iTunes (which are higher than the standard iTunes requirements). According to Apple, to play your videos properly you'll need this:
2.0 GHz Pentium class processor or better
512MB RAM
32MB video RAM
If your computer meets those specs, this article is good for troubleshooting settings that could be causing the problem.

How do you new Mac Pro owners like your machine with Logic?

Don't mean to be a PITA but I need to get this right before I drop three to five grand on a new set of music tools. I'm trying to decide between Mac Pro and iMac for use with Logic. Seems there are a lot of posts regarding glitches with the new Mac Pro and Logic, whereas the posts from people with older G4s and G5s seem to indicate they are running rock solid. So you new Mac Pro folks or anyone else, please weigh in. Is the new Mac Pro "glitch heavy" or is it just a matter of tweaking the system to where it runs smooth? In general, how do you new Mac Pro folks like the way it works with Logic?

I'm mostly pleased with my MacPro 2.66. Almost no crashes with Logic, although I experience a few more bugs here and there than with my G4. Occasional CoreAudio errors, I have to restart CoreAudio if my external word clock is set to the wrong sample rate when I open a session, there seems to be a bug between high fader levels (above +4dB) and panning... little things like that.
Then again, compared to my G4, the FireWire bus is screaming fast--with most sessions, I can run a buffer of 128 samples at 96k with my MOTU 828mkII, while my G4 would sometimes glitch at 96k with 512 samples. At 96k, 256 samples, my MacPro/828mkII rig is rock-solid... I informally tested it by recording 12 test tracks simultaneously for 20 minutes, with the CPU nearly maxed out (which was difficult to do--took a bunch of Space Designers and Ultrabeats)--absolutely zero clicks or pops.
And of course, WAY more processing power than my G4.
I'm assuming that MacPro compatibility is a fairly high priority for Apple these days, so hopefully the bugs will get worked out soon. And as things are, Logic is definitely usable on a MacPro--the bugs I encounter rarely slow down my work.
So, far from perfect, but as far as new technology goes, I'd say Logic on the MacPro is above average.

How much do we invest in our current PowerPC machines with Intel coming?

With Power Macs set to use Intel chips by year's end, it's conceivable that I will buy one eventually.
At this point, how wise is it to keep putting money into our current machines? For example, if I drop $500 on RAM for my current Power Mac, will I be able to remove that RAM and place it in an Intel machine come this time next year?
Just looking for thoughts on this subject (not necessarily the RAM question) as it relates to Logic and audio production on Macs in general.

Here's my take: if you feel no real limitations on your creativity due to inadequacies of your computer's speed, etc., have an audio card (which cost you $$), RAM (which cost you $$) and most of all, applications (which cost you $$) then I'd continue to invest in your current mac. If you're a professional and your Mac system is making money for you and, again, you don't feel creative limitations with your system, stick with it and continue to invest in it.
Personally, I don't believe in chasing the technology just because it's there. Of course, the technology chase will always be there, from now 'til the day you die, because few companies these days allow any kind of homeostasis to occur with respect to their products. You know the drill... company X's latest model of anything is "the best" until 6 months later when their latest model is "the best" until 6 months later when their latest model is...

How do I sync my Iphone to two seperate machines with same itunes account.

I have two laptops one for home and one for personal. But I download music on both. Both are logged on under my own itunes account. But when I try and put the music on from the second computer. itunes will let me know that it will sync, but its going to erase everything from phone first. And I dont want to do that. How do I leave my phones data intact and just add music from my other computer?

Sync iPod/iPad/iPhone with two computers
It isn't possible to sync an Apple device with two different libraries, however it is possible to sync with the same logical library from multiple computers. Each library has an internal ID and when iTunes connects to your iPod/iPad/iPhone it compares the local ID with the one the device normally syncs with. If they are the same you can go ahead and sync, otherwise iTunes will want to erase the content and reload. Manual management isn't an option with an iPhone since it still wants you to use a single library, and that won't sync plays.
I have my library cloned to a small 1Tb USB drive which I can take between home & work. At either location I use SyncToy 2.1 to update the local copy with the external drive. Mac users should be able to find similar tools. I can open either of the local libraries or the one on the external drive and update the media content of my iPhone. The slight exception is Photos which normally connects to a specific folder on a specific machine, although that can easily be remapped to the current library if you create a "Photos" folder inside the iTunes Media folder so that syncing the iTunes folders keeps this up to date as well. I periodically sweep my library for new files & orphans with iTunes Folder Watch just in case I make changes at one location but then overwrite the library with a newer copy from the other. Again Mac users should be able to find similar tools.
As long as your media is organised within an iTunes Music or Tunes Media folder, in turn held inside the main iTunes folder that has your library files (whether or not you let iTunes keep the media folder organised) each library can access items at the same relative path from the library folder so the library can be at different drives/paths on different machines. This solution ensures I always have adequate backups of my library and I can update my devices whenever I can connect to the same build of iTunes.
When working with an iPhone earlier builds of iTunes would remove any file not physically present in the local library, even if there was an entry for it, making manual management practically redundant on the iPhone. This behaviour has been changed slightly but it will still only permit manual management with a library that has the correct internal ID. If you don't want to sync your library between machines on a regular basis just copy the iTunes Library.itl file from the current "home" machine to any other you want to use, then clean out the library entries and import the local content you have on that box. However you lose the other benefits of syncing.

How Do I Record as a DV Stream Instead of .MOV?

I've got QT Pro and my recording pref is set to "Device Native." QT packages the recording as a .MOV file (although the video is a DV stream, according to the inspector). I feel like exporting to a DV stream is somehow degrading the quality. Am I going about this wrong somehow?

All NTSC DV streams are 720x480 regardless of aspect ratio. There is some kind of magic data in the QuickTime file that iMovie and iDVD can use to identify the clip as widescreen, but I have no idea what it is. 8-)
What you can do, though, if you have QT Pro, is to resize the clip to 853x480 before you import it. Don't export it or anything, just change the display size and save the file. QuickTime won't re-encode it, it just changes the display attributes, and when you import that into iMovie, iMovie should recognize it as a widescreen clip even if it is a MOoV.
Whatever manipulation you do, try this little experiment: import your clips into iMovie, do some cuts-only edits, and then share back to a blank tape in the camera. Then turn on the camera's data code feature and play back the edited clip. If it has not been re-encoded, then the original data code should still be intact.
