If you had Lion installed and Find My Mac set-up, it's fairly easy (via iCloud); if not it's down to your local police.

Did you activate Find My iPhone in iCloud BEFORE the device was stolen? If you did, then log into www.icloud.com and see if you can track the device. If you did not activate Find My iPhone, then there is no other way to track the device. You cannot use the serial number to track the device.

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Currently, the only method AFAIK to track a laptop is via the Anti Theft Technology. It's a lojack for laptops that's embedded on the motherboard. When this chip is activated with the help of Absolute CompuTrace then they should be able to track the unit. Otherwise, there's no technology yet to track the laptop via the serial number.
I recommend you have it reported to the local authorities so that you can claim the unit back once it's recovered.

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod. If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number). If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief. All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself. This requires action before the device is lost/stolen. If the device has significant personal information, it should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries. -

If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. I lost my Lenovo G580 Laptop last week.
It doesn't have any tracking programs installed.

AFAIK, the only method to track a laptop is via the Anti Theft Technology. It's a lojack for laptops that's embedded on the motherboard's BIOS (chip) and is usually bundled with tracking software (subscription) like the Absolute's Computrace. When this chip is activated with the help of Absolute CompuTrace then they should be able to track or remotely lock the unit. Otherwise, there's no technology yet to track the laptop via the serial number without the abovementioned methods.
I recommend you report the stolen laptop to the local authorities so that you can claim the unit back once it's recovered. You can also contact lenovo and flag the laptop (via serial number) as "stolen" so anyone who calls for support on the unit will also be flagged.

My iPhone was stolen (through holdup) from me last August 3, 2012 around 10:30 PM while riding in a jeepney. Unfortunately, I try to locate it via iCloud's Find My iPhone App but it shows it's Offline. Now, is there any way to locate it when it's SIM card was replaced or was restored it in phone factory settings? Thanks in advance.
In order to track a phone you have to have enabled the app in advance, and it has to be on, not wiped, and able to connect to a network. If any of these conditions is not true then there is no possible way to track it.

No. Apple can't help either. If you had already set up the FindMyiPod feature you may be able to find it. The SN will allow you to identify the iPod as yours if it is found.

The serial number does not help you track it. You can't track it without Find my iPod. If you did have Find my iPod, I have no doubt the thief disabled it by now. So it's gone.

Report the serial number to the Police, and the theft to your insurance company - that is all you can do.
As for 'not working again' presumably it is password protected and you have a complete backup of your applications and files. -

hello... my ipod touch was stolen last night and i'm trying to figure out how to block the ipod using just the serial number.... i'm not quiet sure if the "find my iphone" apps is still accessible since it can be reset and all the data that's been saved will be deleted.
The SN will only help identify the iPod as yours if it is recovered.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
