Hi i just purchased an as new 5th gen nano and chuffed because it has at least 13gb of music 80% of it good. I would really like to upload this to my existing itunes library how can i do this? I previously used yamipod but this doesnt work with 5th gen. Please help!!

Your music should be in your iTunes library, that is how it gets synced to the iPod. If that music is not present in the iTunes library, you will need to get a 3rd party software for the computer to get the music off the original iPod and then move it to the iTunes library to be able to sync it to the new iPod. 4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

If you want to sync your iTunes library on your Mac to your iPad ....
Connect your iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes. Click on your iPad's name on the left side under the devices heading. Then click on the Music tab - and select the music that you want to transfer. Does your iTunes window look like this - with Sync Music checked and the playlists or albums checked as well like in the photo below?
When you click on the apps tab do you have Sync Apps checked and all of the apps in the window below checked to sync as well?
If you select all of the items under the different tabs in iTunes - music, apps, photos. etc. - when you sync - all of the selected content should sync over to the iPad.

HT1688 does anyone know how to transfer the existing music from my itunes account that i had with an ipod to my iphone? I had my last download on my laptop which crashed and now we have a new computer. I had to download a new version of itunes.

I had my itunes account on my laptop which has since crashed. I had to buy a new computer and iinstall the new version of itunes. It did not pull up any of my information with music library, etc. Does anyone know how to transfer existing music from my itunes account for my ipod to my iphone?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. a couple of weeks ago my computer crashed and i lost everything, i don't know how to put the music and photos that are on my ipod back onto my computer, can anyone help me? i am especially bothered about the photos, as they are the only copy of them that i have (the other copy was on my computer) and they are quite sentimental, i really don't want to lose them! I have seen other people say to plug in the ipod, go to my computer and unhide the music and photos, i think i have found the music but it's all under weird names and my computer won't let me open it. With the photos, all that i can find is two folders called 'photo database' and 'thumbs', but again, i can't open them, i just get a message up saying 'windows cannot open this file' and 'windows needs to know where this file was made before it can open it.' if anybody can help me then it would be much appriciated, i really don't want to lose my stuff. many thanks in advance x

No Playlists, or Ratings, Last Played, & Play Count attributes will be transferred from the iPod to iTunes using this method.
If you have problems with seeing the iPod within 'My Computer', try switching your update method to 'manual' , detach the iPod, then reconnect the iPod to the PC.
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).

I have also meet problems to transfer music from PC to iPhone, and I had solved it now. You can do the following steps,
1. Copy music to your phone memory
2. Exported contacts to SD Card (on Android phone) in VCard format
3. Transfered VCard file from SD Card to PC
4. Created a Google Account
5. Opened the Google Account from a browser (on PC), go to Contacts, and then uploaded VCard contacts to the Google account
6. Configured the iPhone (using a separate Windows user account - so as to allow for importing pictures & videos through iTunes)
7. Created a "CardDAV" account on the iPhone and synchronised all Contacts

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows.
