how can I transfer my bookmarks from firefox 4 (on xp) to 5 (on Windows 7)?

Export your bookmarks (file menu in Safari, from the Show All Bookmarks option in Firefox) and save to your HD. Copy the saved .html file to the other Mac over the network, or by copying the file to a USB stick and copying to the other Mac, or emailing them to the other Mac. On the other Mac import the Bookmarks file into your browser of choice,

  • How do I transfer bookmarks from Firefox 3.6 on one computer to Firefox 4 on another computer?

I have a new HP 6720 Pavillion Desktop using Windows 7 and downloaded FF4.0 to it. I have bookmarks in FF3.6 on an older computer using XP and have exported Firefox to a jump drive. I need step by step instructions on how to get my old FF profile info including bookmarks transfered to my new computer.By the way, I need the same instructions for transfering my Outlook email files and address book on the old computer to Thunderbird on the new one. Thanks

You can export the bookmarks using Firefox 3.6 to a json file, then restore that file to Firefox 4 on the new computer. For details see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Backing+up+and+restoring+bookmarks

  • I want to transfer bookmarks from firefox on old HDD ( removed from old laptop) to the firefox on new LAPTOP

Hi, My 5 yr old Acer laptop stopped functioning due to a motherboard problem. I have a replacement HP laptop . So instead of repairing the ACER laptop i have removed the HDD and connected it to my HP laptop via USB adapter. I want to transfer the bookmarks on the firefox from the OLD HDD to the firefox in my new HP laptop.
How can i do this . ( All other data on the old HDD is safe and accsessible but i just cant find the bookmarks data of the Firefox )
    Regards
    Sunil

On Windows Vista and Windows 7, profile folders are in this location, by default:
    C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>.
The AppData folder is a hidden folder; to show hidden folders, open a Windows Explorer window and choose "Organize → Folder and Search Options → Folder Options → View (tab) → Show hidden files and folders".
On Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7, you can also use this path to find the profile folder, even when it is hidden:
    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>
%APPDATA% is a variable represents the C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>Application Data folder on Windows 2000/XP and the C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming folder on Windows vista and Windows 7. Image:Appdata.png
To find a profile folder in the default location on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, or Windows 7:
Press "Windows key Image:Windows_Key.png + R" to open the Run box
(or, you can click "Start → Run..." on Windows 2000/XP)
In the Run box, type in %APPDATA%
Click OK. A Windows Explorer window will appear.
In this window, choose Mozilla → Firefox → Profiles.
Each folder in the "Profiles" folder (e.g., "xxxxxxxx.default") is a profile on your computer.

  • How to transfer bookmarks from Safari on one computer over to another?

I have two computers, both running Safari 1.3.x in OSX 10.3.9. The computers are connected via Ethernet so I can transfer any files I want between them.
Computer A, my old computer, has all my hundreds of bookmarks in Safari. Computer B, my new computer, has no bookmarks yet. How can I transfer all my bookmarks en masse from the Safari on Computer A to the Safari on Computer B?
There must be a file or something that contains all the bookmarks, but I can't figure out which one it is.
    Thanks.

Never mind, I discovered the answer myself after a bit of poking around. The file is called "Bookmarks.plist" and is found in the user's "Library>Safari" under 10.3.9. I simply threw away the "Bookmarks.plist" from my new computer, then copied the old computer's "Bookmarks.plist" to the same location on the new computer, then fired up Safari on the new computer -- voila! All the old bookmarks appeared in the new version of Safari on the new computer.
    Problem solved.

  • How to transfer bookmarks from solar01 to Test Workbench

    Hi colleagues,
I am responsible for Test management in a implementation project. The customer has used the new bookmark feature in solar 01 to avoid redundant process documentation/configuration in solar01/02. Unfortunately the bookmarks are not transfered to Testworkbench. Changing the bookmarks to real copies is not an option because this would cause inconsistencies in the existing synchronization with ARIS. Are there any customizing options or workarounds to take the bookmarks over to stwb.
    thanks, Peter

    Hi Jason,
thanks for your answer! Seems that one simple workarround could be resolving the bookmarks for testing and then wait for the next Aris sync run. Prerequisites on Aris side should be attributing the processes/process steps as bookmarks. (option has to be verified).
But I think this is not a final solution, so I will recommend to open an OSS-Message.
    THX, Peter

Turn off updating to keep your good working version or you will be forced to use the new version that is missing some well used features.

  • How do I import Bookmarks from Firefox 28.0 into Firefox 29.0.1?

How do I import Bookmarks from Firefox 28.0 into Firefox 29.0.1? I am running OS X 10.7.5 and just updated Firefox from 28.0 to 29.0.1. How do I import my old 28.0 bookmarks into 29.0.1? I've tried all the suggestions but nothing works. WHERE are my old bookmarks? Help, please!

Your bookmarks can be imported and exported from the Library (Bookmarks Manager).
*Go to the clipboard icon, click Show All Bookmarks <i>OR</i> press Cmd + Shift + B
*Once there, you'll see Import and Backup (see screenshot), you have a choice to choose between backing up as a JSON (Import and Backup -> Backup) or HTML (Import and Backup - > Export bookmarks to HTML)
Once this is done and the file has been backed up, you can import them using the same method (Import & Backup -> Backup for JSON/Import & Backup -> Import bookmarks from HTML (HTML)
One of our awesome contributors explained the difference between a JSON backup and a HTML backup that is very explanatory:
Restoring a JSON backup will replace all your current bookmarks (you get a warning about that), so if you already have bookmarks that you wish to keep then export them to an HTML file before restoring the JSON backup.
You can import that HTML file after you have restored the JSON backup to get your current bookmarks back (you need to remove duplicates).
You can't import a JSON backup to add (merge) bookmarks.
Importing bookmarks from an HTML file adds the imported bookmarks to the already existing bookmarks, so you may need to remove duplicates.
An HTML backup doesn't support tags and annotations, so if you want to preserve those then you need to use a JSON backup.
A JSON backup doesn't preserve the website favicons, so you need to visit a website to get back that favicon.

I just changed jobs. My last job used Firefox, my new job uses Explorer. I previously did a manual back up of my bookmarks from Firefox. Is there a way now to get them into Explorer?

For cross-browser compatibility, you should have '''exported''' your bookmarks in '''HTML''' format. <br />
Create a new Profile in a Firefox installation and '''restore''' that '''json''' file, then '''export''' in '''HTML''' format. You can trash that new Profile when your'e done if you don't want it.

  • When deleting bookmarks from Firefox, why does the program respond differently on similar installs to different computers all running OS X?

    On the subject of bookmarks...
The following procedure works for deleting bookmarks on my MacBook Pro, my iMac, and my Mac mini...
If the bookmark is itself a tab on the toolbar, right click on it and select delete by highlighting delete in the drop down menu that appears.
The following procedure works for deleting bookmarks on my MacBook Pro, but not my iMac or Mac mini...
If the toolbar tab is actually a folder containing bookmarks and possibly more folders, left click on the toolbar tab to open a drop down menu of other bookmarks/folders, highlight the one you want to delete, then right click on it and select delete by highlighting delete in the drop down menu.
On the iMac and Mac mini, right clicking on an item in the drop down menu of bookmarks/folders has no effect. It does not produce the additional drop down menu at all.
I can find no place to adjust this as a setting in preferences or anywhere else. Can you tell me why I am seeing a different response from the Firefox program on my MacBook Pro than I get from my other Macs?
All Macs are configured similarly and running OS X 10.6.5. All have Firefox 3.6.13 installed.
I realize there are many other ways to delete bookmarks from Firefox. My question is not about how to delete bookmarks, but rather why am I seeing the differing behavior from Firefox in other installs. It may well prove to be an issue within OS X rather than Firefox.

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes" then try to disable this feature.
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [ ] "Clear history when Firefox closes"
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem
