  • How do I transfer bookmarks from Firefox 3.6 on one computer to Firefox 4 on another computer?

I have a new HP 6720 Pavillion Desktop using Windows 7 and downloaded FF4.0 to it. I have bookmarks in FF3.6 on an older computer using XP and have exported Firefox to a jump drive. I need step by step instructions on how to get my old FF profile info including bookmarks transfered to my new computer.By the way, I need the same instructions for transfering my Outlook email files and address book on the old computer to Thunderbird on the new one. You can export the bookmarks using Firefox 3.6 to a json file, then restore that file to Firefox 4 on the new computer. For details see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Backing+up+and+restoring+bookmarks

On Windows Vista and Windows 7, profile folders are in this location, by default:
    C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>.
The AppData folder is a hidden folder; to show hidden folders, open a Windows Explorer window and choose "Organize → Folder and Search Options → Folder Options → View (tab) → Show hidden files and folders".
On Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7, you can also use this path to find the profile folder, even when it is hidden:
    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>
%APPDATA% is a variable represents the C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>Application Data folder on Windows 2000/XP and the C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming folder on Windows vista and Windows 7. Image:Appdata.png
To find a profile folder in the default location on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, or Windows 7:
Press "Windows key Image:Windows_Key.png + R" to open the Run box
(or, you can click "Start → Run..." on Windows 2000/XP)
In the Run box, type in %APPDATA%
Click OK. A Windows Explorer window will appear.
In this window, choose Mozilla → Firefox → Profiles.
Each folder in the "Profiles" folder (e.g., "xxxxxxxx.default") is a profile on your computer.

  • How to transfer bookmarks from Safari on one computer over to another?

I have two computers, both running Safari 1.3.x in OSX 10.3.9. The computers are connected via Ethernet so I can transfer any files I want between them.
Computer A, my old computer, has all my hundreds of bookmarks in Safari. Computer B, my new computer, has no bookmarks yet. How can I transfer all my bookmarks en masse from the Safari on Computer A to the Safari on Computer B?
There must be a file or something that contains all the bookmarks, but I can't figure out which one it is.
    Thanks.

Never mind, I discovered the answer myself after a bit of poking around. The file is called "Bookmarks.plist" and is found in the user's "Library>Safari" under 10.3.9. I simply threw away the "Bookmarks.plist" from my new computer, then copied the old computer's "Bookmarks.plist" to the same location on the new computer, then fired up Safari on the new computer -- voila! All the old bookmarks appeared in the new version of Safari on the new computer.
    Problem solved.

  • Does anyong know how to retrieve bookmarks after firefox gets reinstalled I did hundreds of hours of study straight.

I am hoping you can help me with this please reply. I spent hundreds of hours doing research for Collage. Mostly regarding IT courses, with between 5 and 40 hour research sessions every day, at least 10 weeks straight, but I cannot retrieve my bookmarks, Without going into detail. Windows, i.e. Microsoft, checked my primary hard drive without asking and changed its letter path, causing me to have problems booting the computer making it impossible to repair the operating system, which also effected the bookmarks in the old firefox browser. The collage I attend require in order to attend I use Firefox 3.6.28 or the lowest possible one available. Please help. I tried looking up bookmark help and even accessed the firefox profile folder but nothing has worked. Tanks in advance.

  • How do you bookmark in Firefox 29.x

I realize that @teeness as a similar question, however the roll back theme seemed to fix that problem, does not mine.
The "Star" is missing from the URL Bar (indicating if the Bookmark is already bookmarked, etc.)
As well as there's *NO WHERE* to add a bookmark.
When I use the small down arrow (prior to 29x was next to the (if Bookmarked) "Gold Star" would open up the Bookmarks menu.
Now the down arrow only shows last visited pages. There's No where in Tools, Bookmarks, etc. to *ADD* a Bookmark.. The only way I can add one is the drag/drop method.
****No, nothing has changed (extensions,etc.). The *ONLY* change made was to ADD the
Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis) 1.1.8
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/
Which is a Mozilla Approved roll back (skin) for the changes in 29.x thus hope this is not the culprit.
Thanks. All I want is my Bookmarks ability back.
    Mucho

Hello, also you can use the next add-on if you want the Star Button In Urlbar again : [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/starbuttoninurlbar/?src=search Star-Button In Urlbar]

  • How to transfer bookmarks from solar01 to Test Workbench

    Hi colleagues,
I am responsible for Test management in a implementation project. The customer has used the new bookmark feature in solar 01 to avoid redundant process documentation/configuration in solar01/02. Unfortunately the bookmarks are not transfered to Testworkbench. Changing the bookmarks to real copies is not an option because this would cause inconsistencies in the existing synchronization with ARIS. Are there any customizing options or workarounds to take the bookmarks over to stwb.
    thanks, Peter

    Hi Jason,
thanks for your answer! Seems that one simple workarround could be resolving the bookmarks for testing and then wait for the next Aris sync run. Prerequisites on Aris side should be attributing the processes/process steps as bookmarks. (option has to be verified).
But I think this is not a final solution, so I will recommend to open an OSS-Message.
    THX, Peter

How would I transfer bookmarks from my computer, from firefox 3.6.1, to firefox 4 (not installed yet) on the same computer, without losing any of the bookmarks?

If you want to make sure to have your bookmarks in FF4. You can always backup your bookmarks on your PC and import it into FF4 later:
Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Export as HTML
and save it anywhere in your PC.

  • How do I transfer bookmarks from one computer to another without using the sync feature?

I have used the Belkin transfer cable which did not transfer the bookmarks. I can't find them on my C Drive. I'd like to transfer them manually using a thumb drive but can't without locating the file with the bookmarks.
Firefox and its bookmarks are on the original computer. At this time I can't use the synch function, but must manually transfer the bookmarks. How do I recognize in the files and copy on an external device and then transfer

Ctrl+Shift+B will open the show all bookmarks window
and on the top of that it has an import/export menu using this you can export all your bookmarks into a file either as html or as a json
you can then do the reverse on another PC
    does that help?

  • How do I move my Firefox bookmarks to another copy of Firefox on another computer, and how do I keep from overwriting the previous bookmarks on the "new" computer's Firefox?

My husband upgraded his iMac this year, and I'm getting his "old" one. I just want to know, first, how to transfer my bookmarks, and second, how to transfer them to his Firefox without overwriting his current bookmarks. And how do I open "my" Firefox, when the Firefox icon is connected to his information? Thanks!

Hi Guys, you make this sound easy. I have a 2005 Toshiba with about 6GB of music I loaded from CDs on it. It is an old PC and I want to retrieve the music before it crashes then deauthorize it.
I have a iMac desktop and want to import the 6GB to it.
I read the above and tried to copy the file but at 6GB it is bigger than a memory stick or CD and I can't get sharing to work.
My Imac can see the Toshiba in the IMPORT window....but won't allow me to import it.
Would it work if I got a cable with USB on each end and joined the 2 computers?
I also have iTunes Sharing and can see and play the Toshiba files on the Mac WHILE they are connected.......BUT I want to cut the connection and have the Toshiba songs independant on the Mac, then close down the PC.
Does anyone have a simple way. It is APPLE! I must be missing a simple solution here somewhere.
    Thank you for your time.
