I have Elements 8 on my 2006 iMac and would like to deactivate it and install it on my newer iMac, but the download area says it can't be done. What are my options?

I just purchased a new iMac yesterday. I have my PC files backed up on an external HD. My external HD won't work/not recognized when I test it by plugging it into my Mac Book Pro. However because I have my computers set up on a network I saved my files on DVD and the music files which are too large I copied onto my PC desktop to access via the network. Congratulations on your new iMac. What format is your external HD formatted in, that is probably the only issue the iMac has reading it. You may be able to fix it if it's formatted in NFTS, if so you can download and install NFTS-3G and then your iMac can see the drive. From there it's a simple matter of dragging and dropping files.
If you are still stuck you have 90 days of free AppleCare phone support, the number is in your manual and you should call for some advice on how to move your stuff. How to transfer adobe photoshop to new iMac

I have Adobe Master Collection CS6 and have just bought the latest iMac (27), I have migrated everything from old iMac (24) onto new iMac.
Problem is I can't Deactivate the program on the old iMac, I have opened up Photoshop, gone to the "Help" button, "Deactivate" but I keep getting this..."Deactivation requires admin authentication, run application in admin mode and deactivate"
I am the only user and I am Admin but I still keep getting same thing. I have tried the same with Illistrator and same thing, what am I doing wrong?

I don't see a reason why it will not work. But this brings up the question of what you mean by "transfer". If you mean "copy the files from one computer and paste them on the other," then this will not work. This copy action will not get all the files required. Instead, you should be reinstalling using the original installation media (disks or download).

Last December I bought a download of Elements 8 and installed it on my PC, registered it etc.
I have now bought a new PC and want to transfer Elements to the new machine, I do not have the original download files - any ideas how to do it?

My iMac hard drive recently failed and I lost everything. I just bought one of the new iMacs with no disc drive. I had purchased Photoshop CS5 in 2011 but it came with CD's for install. I downloaded the CS6 trial version and when I try to activate it with my old serial number it says it is invalid.
