How to transfer iphones info with new itunes without losing everything

my mac recently crashed due to hard drive failure. It has been replaced but has lost eveything on it. Now when i plug my iphone in the 'new' itunes doesnt recognize it and if i sync it will erase eveything. so i would love to know how i can transfer my music, contacts and apps to the new itunes? Thanks

On your new Mac, start iTunes, check for updates and ensure you have the latest version.
Sign-in to the iTunes Store (creating a new Apple Id if needed).
On your old Mac locate your Song files and make a secure backup.
Restore the secure backup to a folder on your new Mac.
On your new Mac, import the Song files into your library - once complete, make a secure backup of your Song files.
On your new Mac, start iTunes Match and allow the process to run to completion - following the notes in the User Tips area of this forum to overcome any issues that may arise.
On your iPhone 5, start the iTunes Match service and allow the process to complete whilst in good local WiFi and/or physically connected.

    hi i need help
hi my laptop with my itunes lubrary has crashed so i got a new one but i dont want to sync my iphone to the new laptop incase i lose all my songs on my iphone. how do i sync to a new one without losing everything

The right way is to restore the backup that you kept of your old computer onto your new one. If it is too late for that before you do anything set up a backup process for the new one so when it crashes (note I said "when", not "if") you won't be faced with this problem again.
In lieu of that the apps already mentioned will help you get content off the phone if it was not purchased from iTunes. But it it WAS purchased from iTunes just connect the phone to your new computer, Authorize iTunes on the new computer and choose "Transfer Purchases" from the iTunes file menu.

  • Putting iphone on new itunes without losing everything

so i got me a new macbook and have my iphone setup with the itunes on my old computer. everytime i try to set it up on the new one it wants to delete all my files. how can i get all my files on the new computer. thanks

The iPhone is designed to sync with only one iTunes Library. Move the files directly from your old computer to your new computer using an external hard drive, a network connection, etc., then when you sync all your same content will be reloaded.

  • Copy back (sync) iPhone content on virgin iTunes without losing everything

    Hi!
    Reinstalled OS on computer.
Precisely how can I sync my iphone content to virgin itunes 11.1.3 without losing all music and voice memos from my iphone?
Been using iTunes for years but absolutely can't figure out with new iTunes 11... thanks!

    Thanks mende1,
I don't understand why it's such an hassle. What I want to do (synchronize iPhone to computer iTunes) is so simple!
For example : I got around 50 important voice memos on my iPhone. Oldest one from December 2012. No matter what I do, it just copies on my computer iTunes the recent memos (2 weeks ago) and doesn't want to do the same with the oldest ones.
If I select the Music tab / Sync music, it always prompts me this weird message about the fact that my iPhone is synchronized on another iTunes library (which is true) on a computer I bought 3 weeks ago and brought back (and got refunded) to Apple today. It asks me "Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync it with this (VIRGIN!) iTunes library?"
Saved my iPhone and tried this option : TOTAL DISASTER. Had to revert.
Tried the third-party app Senuti : same thing happens. Just shows me new memos to transfer!
I'm getting crazy!! I just can't believe how this can be SO complicated!
    Thanks in advance!

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your phone from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Set up your iTunes account, disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • How to sync iPhone 3GS to new computer without losing information

As my last computer was dying I was able to create a backup disk on itunes to use with my new computer. When I got my new computer, I put in the disk and had no problems transferring all of my songs, pictures, and videos to my new itunes. Now when I want to sync my iphone to my new computer it is saying that I must erase and resync with the new computer, but I am worried that I will lose all of my contacts and other information that I have stored on my iphone. Can anyone tell me if this is a legitimate concern, and if so what I can do to keep my contacts, mail, and other information on my phone but at the same time be able to put my new songs on my phone as well.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Do the following & you'll be OK since you've moved your itunes library:
First, disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected, under preferences in itunes, which in windows is in the edit menu.
Connect your phone, DO NOT SYNC.
Next, go up to Store>Authorize this computer.
    Next, File>Transfer Purchases.
Next, make sure you have at least one contact & one event in whatever supported program you use for that purpose. They can be fake, it doesn't matter.
Right click the phone in the device pane & select "Reset Warnings".
Next, right click again & select BACKUP.
Next, restore your phone from the backup you just made.
This must be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content. Which is selected from the various tabs. You should get a prompt regarding your contacts & calendar asking to "merge" or "replace", when you sync. Select "merge"
This is what's included in the backup you'll make & restore from:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
This is how to restore from that backup, as already referenced, when prompted to create another backup before you restore, decline as we will use the backup we made when we started:

  • I just fomatted my PC and I want to sync my Ipod with my new Itunes without losing everything.

    the title says everything

This was posted in the "Using iPad" discussion site but it applies to an iPod Touch as well.
The following was copied from this thread. This is essentially what you want to accomplish.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11527071#11527071
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
Read this thread and the support links as well. There are apps that you can purchase that will allow you to transfer photos from the iPad to your PC. Look at Photo Transfer App in the App store and you can search for others as well.

  • My old computer got stolen, how can I sync to a new itunes without losing all my contacts, and other stuff?

So my old windows computer that my iphone was sync to got stolen, I bought a new MacBook Pro and it asking me to erase and sync What can I do to keep all my contacts, photos, and other data and sync my iphone then restore all my data? or anything similar you might think that could help. • PC Crashed, need to get iPhone synced with new PC without losing data

I have an iPhone 4 which I purchased a few weeks ago. Love the phone. The PC I set it up with has crashed so I need to use another PC to store/transfer data to/from the iPhone. I don't want to lose the data I have already put on the iPhone (about 700 songs, movies, 200 apps, contacts...) so a simple sync will not work. The files on this other PC are almost identical to the files I had on the original PC. Is there any way to change the single PC the phone will connect with, without changing/losing the data already on the iPhone?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
If you sync your iphone contacts/calendars to a blank computer, then they will be erased as well. Another reason to use your backup.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, then you can enter one unique contact and calendar entry on the new computer. When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge.

  • How to sync iPhone 4s to new Mac without losing apps on iPhone 4s.

I previously had an iPhone 4 and 3Gs at the same time, but since then have sold them. Now when I try to sync my apps to iTunes it says that I can't unless I revert my apps to a previous setting that was used for either my iPhone 3gs or iPhone 4 and my other apps will be deleted.. I only use this computer now, but used to use another computer that was a pc. It is quite unstable so it wouldnt' be very easy to get on it grab my old files that I'm sure aren't complete anyways. All I need to do is take everything from this iPhone and back it up on my Macbook Pro. Thanks.
