How to transfer iPhoto pics?

I just can't seem to transfer my Iphoto pics and videos from my macbook pro to my new 5C Iphone? I know Itunes is somehow involved, but i can't make it work. Help?????   :-)

Connect the phone to the computer, open iTunes, click on the phone under Devices in the left pane, click on Photos in the row across the top of the window, put a checkmark in front of "Sync Photos From" and choose iPhoto in the area directly to the right of "Sync Photos From" and then make your selections of what you want to include. Note that the sync is essentially one way and each time it is done it will set the non-Camera Roll photos on your phone to match the current iTunes settings/selections. Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Be sure to include the options to check and repair file permissions in the Library.

  • How to transfer iPhoto library into another existing iPhoto library?

Hi. I need to transfer iPhoto (the whole library - created folders and the events the way they been downloaded from camera) from Imac iPphoto to an existing MacBook iPhoto library. I did find in here how to transfer the entire library to the new computer, but when the new comp doesn't have any photos in it yet… to do so >>> copy iPhoto Icon > paste into HD > then copy and paste in to HD on new macbook…. But how can I do it so i don't overwrite that existing library? Thanks heaps for answer. PS. would you call it "merging the libraries"?

You can not do anything with a Time Machine backup - you must use TM to restore it to disk first - you can not directly access your iPhoto library on the TM backup

How does one transfer iphoto librar form Imac to imac w jump drive?

Ensure it or a partition or disk image on it is formatted as Mac OS Extended, and move it from the Pictures folder in an account's home folder from one Mac to the same location on the other.

  • Mountain Lion OSX & How To Transfer iPhotos to Screensaver

    I found this site
    http://gigaom.com/apple/10-hidden-things-you-can-do-on-your-mac/
and in it it tells you (prettywell) how to use iphotos as screensavers.
What I did was to >system preferences>Desktop & Screen Saver>Screen Saver>Slideshows on the left and selected one.
Now the "Source box appeared under the picture on the right and I could go and get a photo.
Hopes this helps as I noted many people are ticked off at not being able to use their photos as Screen Savers
    with Mountain Lion.

Thanks for letting everyone know about this!  This is actually something I'd like to do so I can use a photo stream as a screensaver.

  • I am wanting to transfer iphoto pics from my macbook pro to my iMac.  How can I do this?

I have a macbook pro that has iPhoto 11 version 9.1.5 that has pictures that I am trying to move over to my iMac into iPhoto on the iMac which is iPhoto 11 version 9.1.5.  What is the easiest way to move these pictures from my macbook pro to my iMac?

On the iMac: Export the 30 or so pics from iPhoto to a Folder in the Desktop (File -> Export)
Then go to the Pictures Folder and drag the iPhoto Library to the trash.
Next: Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network, Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
Then import the 30 from the folder on the Desktop.

  • How to transfer iPhoto's to LR4?

How do you transfer photos from iPhoto to LR4 ?

Depends on exactly what you're trying to transfer.
Lightroom can't read or understand the iPhoto Library, nor does it understand iPhoto's version of lossless processing. (And, indeed, vice versa). If you want a seamless migration to a more powerful app you'll need to go with Aperture rather than Lightroom.
That said: You need now to choose what you want from iPhoto...
    1. The original Masters only? Then File -> Export and set the Kind to Original. If you're using iPhoto 11 9.3 or later you can export to a folder tree that matches your Events.
    2. The edited version of your Photos: File -> Export and this time, basically any setting except Original
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
Note that the 'Current' setting will miss metadata.
    3. Or both: which will give you duplicates in LR.

  • How to transfer iPhoto events from iPod Classic to Mac

I have an old iPod Classic 80GB and used to sync all my iPhoto events with it (full resolution pictures and disk use enabled).
Now my MacBook White HD crashed, and I would like to transfer all the events to a MacBook Air running Mountain Lion (v10.8.2). I could easily copy and paste the "Full Resolution" folder, which has all the pictures. However, I could not manage a way of transfering the photos metadata, i.e., I was unable to transfer the events' names along with the photos or keep them sepparated in events.
I have read this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1930, according to which the iPhoto should identify my iPod and would be able to import the pictures. But the iPhoto (v9.4.2) can't "see" the iPod (perhaps because it's a much newer iPhoto version compared to the one running in my old Tiger MacBook White). And if it could, I'm afraid it wouldn't identify the events in which every group of pictures is split.
How can I import the photos sepparated in iPhoto events from my iPod Classic to the Mac? Any ideas?

Yes, iPhoto is the best choice for you.

  • How to transfer iPhoto libraries to an external hard drive.

I would like to transfer my iPhoto library from my iMac (2004) and my MacBook (2008) to an external hard drive (WD EX2, formatted for Mac). I will be purchasing a new MBP soon and handing down the older Mac's. I would like to be able to keep all of the photo/video information intact and maybe one day amalgamate them.
First things first though, any suggestions on the best way to transfer the files from each computer to the EHD?
    Thanks in advance

I installed iPhoto Library Upgrader on both machines
Yes, I chose the transfered library by pressing "Choose Library".
You only need the iPhoto Library upgrader, if you want to open the library in the current version, iPhoto '11. If your current version is iPhoto '09, as you are saying, you do not need it. But for a new Mac with iPhoto '11 you will need to upgrade any iPhoto'07 libraries.
. I opened iPhoto and "switched to" the imported library. It opens but there are no files in it. I know the original file that was transfered is 50G.
Your screenshot is showing an empty, new iPhoto library. And that iPhoto Library simply cannot be an iPhoto '09 library. Just look at the icons in the library source list. These gray icons have been introduced with iPhoto '11, version 9.3 or later. We need to get the version numbers straight. When iPhoto is running on your MacBook, is the Dock icon blue/cyan or sunset-coloured?  What version number are you seeing in the About panel "iPhoto > About iPhoto"?
If you are really runnin iPhoto '11, try to open your transferred library by selecting it directly and double clicking it.
Do you by any chance have two iPhoto versions on your MacBook?
I hope, LarryHN is still following this thread and can help, with getting the versions sorted . I have only the most recent iPhoto '11, version 9.5.1 available for testing.

  • How to transfer iPhoto album from Mac to iPhone?

    Hi all,
I hadn't done this in a while and now that I have Mountain Lion (10.8.3) I can't find the solution as before.
    Really simple:
I built a modest photo album in iPhoto and now I want to upload it to my iPhone.  Before, you were able to select 'sync' and it would do it, but that's not an option, or at least I don't see it.  How can I upload a completed album to my iPhone?
Better yet, how can you upload a video from iPhoto on the Mac to the iPhone?  You can't 'share' it with PhotoStream because it won't accept video.
    Thanks much,
    SHM

Open iTunes with the iPhone connected.  Go the Photos section for your iPhone and check the Sync Photos from checkbox and clik on Selected Albums radio button.
Then select the album you want to sync to your iPhone.

  • How to transfer iphoto and itunes libraries from NAS back to MacBook Pro

I recently upgraded my MBP hard drive, and decided I'd like to move my iphoto and itunes libraries back to my local drive from my Synology NAS. I thought this would be easily achieved by copying the libraries from the NAS and pasting them in the desired locations in the MBP, as I did to get them to the NAS in the first place. This will not work.
First off, when I try a simple copy and paste through finder, the transfer gets about half way through and suddenly stops with  "You can't copy "iPhoto Library" because it has the same name as another item in the destination volume, and that volume doesn't distinguish between upper- and lowercase letters in filenames".
This occurs even if there is no Iphoto directory currently on the MBP.
I contacted Synology, and they attempted to have me use a windows transfer protocol to transfer the libraries, but when transferring this way I am stopped half way through with an "Error -8084" code.
I am aware that the MBP is formatted with MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and that the NAS is formatted differently, but there must be some way to get this back.
My itunes library contains all my family's ipad, and iphone back ups, in addition to around 35 gb of music. Additionally, I don't want to lose Event info in Iphoto.
    Please help!
    Thank you

  • How to transfer iPhoto library to new computer?

OK, I have an iMac G4 with iLife '06. I just got a new iMac G5 and I want to transfer my iPhoto library from the G4 to the G5 with all of my albums and folders. What is the best way to do it?

Just copy the entire iPhoto Library folder to the new machine. Don't import, don't do it by piece, just the whole folder.
I would use Target mode to move the photo library. Hold down the T key after shutting down and hitting the Power On button on the G4 iMac., then connect a firewire cable between them. The G4's Hard Drive will show up as a Firewire drive on the G5's desktop. Navigate to your iPhoto Library in Pictures and copy the whole folder over.
    This will work assuming:
    - Your user name is the same (if not you might have to use a utility like BatChmod to adjust ownership and permissions)
    - You are simply moving your primary library to your new Mac, not trying to add together the library on each Mac.
    - You don't have the advanced preference set to not copy photos into your library (means the folder doesn't actually contain the photos, just references to them and the photos are stored elsewhere)
As always, keep a full backup. To be completely safe, copy the iPhoto Library to a different location than the Pictures folder, then launch iPhoto with Option key held down and navigate to the copied iPhoto Library. That way you haven't deleted anything until you're sure it works.

  • HT1229 Can I Transfer iPhoto Pics From A Old Computer To A New Computer?

About to get a new computer soon and I want to transfer my pictures from iPhoto from computer A to computer B.  Anyway it can be done?  I need to get this resolved within a week if possible.  Any help I will be grateful.

ACtually migration assistant has a poor record moving the iPhoto library between computers.
Allan recommended "Setup Assistant" and not "Migration assistant", Larry. The "Setup Assistant" directly after the system has been installed, and before any new user account has been created, avoids all the permissions and access control list errors and makes a much better job.
