How to transfer iTunes content?

1st things first.
My brother set up a passcode on his iPad and he forgot the passcode, now the iPad shows that it is disabled and it needs to be connected to iTunes.
1. The last time I sync the iPad with my (old) laptop was early this year.
2. I had setup the iTunes on my (old) laptop to save all the contents of sync, into my External Harddrive.
3. My (old) laptop is now dead.
4. I bought a (new) laptop
5. I havent installed iTunes yet on the laptop
6. My question is, if I installed iTunes on my new laptop, what can I do so that the iPad will not lose every content? And so that I can sync smoothly..?

You can sync as many ipods as you like to one computer. All of your music should be on your computer, in itunes. Just plug in your second ipod, make whatever selections that you like and sync it.

  • How to Transfer iTunes content from old computer to new

I have a new Windows 7 computer. I downloaded iTunes and now I want to transfer all my content from my old Windows Vista notebook to the new computer.
How do I do it? I don't see any import/transfer solution.
    Thanks

Because there is nothing in iTunes to deal with this, no need to be.
Use the Windows Easy File Transfer utility to move all your data.
Or simply copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

  • How can I copy/transfer iTunes content ?

How can I copy/transfer iTunes content from my old computer to the new one, considering that for some reason Target Mode and Migration Assistant doesn't work for me ?
I don't need the application itself (it comes with the new computer) but just the content.
I want to transfer my collection of CD in iTunes. they are all CD that I physically have in my living room, listen to them on my stereo and have copy them in my computer (which is in the Den) so I can listen while working on my computer.
    The iTunes is version 9.0.2
Can I drag it to the external drive or perhaps just the songs, then copy/drag them to my new computer ?

    Hi-
Can I drag it to the external drive or perhaps just the songs, then copy/drag them to my new computer ?
    Pretty much, Yes.
If you wish to keep the formatting, notes, ratings, etc. that are with the library, you should allow the iTunes software to "discover" the library.
If the iTunes Library from one machine is placed on an external drive, the iTunes software on the other machine can be directed to the library of the external drive when connected.
Allowing "Copy to Home folder/music" will provide for copying of the library to the new machine.
Alternatively, if the library is loaded onto an iPod, the iPod can be used to transfer the music.

You don't transfer balances to devices as the balance is on your account, not the device.

  • How to transfer the content of the video to Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 for editing ?

    Hi there,
I have an old video camera that is still working. That video camera uses a Hi 8 tape. The tape is bigger that the current DV tape. The size of the tape is something like a tape cassette.
How to transfer the content of the video to Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 for editing ? Being an old video camera, the output doesn't have any firewire or USB connector. In fact the only output is has is the Yellow, Red & while connector (is this referred to as composite).
So, how do I input this Yellow, Red & White cable into the PC (or rather into Adobe Pro CS3) ?
Any established hardware/convertor to recommend ?
    Thanks

    Ryan,
For "composite out," only you will need an A-D "bridge" to Capture from that camera. Grass Valley/Canopus offers two really good ones, the ADVC-110 and the ADVC-300. There are others and also PCI A-D capture cards, but the Canopus units get very good reviews.
One other workflow would be to hook your older camera to a digital video camera with passthrough (not all have this and it is being discontinued fairly rapidly in consumer cameras) and then doing the Capture through that digital video camera via FireWire. You will not have Device Control, but can easily start/stop via the mouse and one hand on the switches, or on a remote.
    Good luck,

    Many thanks!

Select a single song with a broken link, press CTRL+I to Get Info, cancel when asked to locate the track and take a look at the Summary tab. Post back where iTunes is looking for the file. It begins file://localhost
    Where is it really?
Please post back both paths so that I can make suggestions. Full paths please, exact spellings, you can replace your user name with <User> if needed.

  • How to transfer iphone content to new Macbook

I've just replaced my PC laptop with a Macbook and I'd like to know how to transfer my iphone content to the Macbook. I've read various help pages and posts and I'm totally confused about the conflicting information.
I understand that the iphone is designed to be used with only one computer, but getting it to the new computer is the challenge. I have thousands of songs, hundreds of photos, 150+ contacts and 13 apps (some of which I rely on heavily). As well as notes which I was never able to synchronise previously, so they only exist on the iphone.
Most of the songs were loaded from my CD collection and it took weeks to rate and categorise them, which I would prefer to avoid doing again. I suppose I could export as data CDs but it's still a lot of disks and time. Most of the photos were taken by camera (not iphone) which again I could transfer via data CD.
If I've understood things correctly, the authorise/deauthorise option in iTunes refers to items purchased via itunes only? And the iphone backup only backs up settings, rather than content? Would an external hard drive help (I don't yet have one)?? I'd appreciate your thoughts for a simple-ish, not to time consuming solution.
    Thanks in advance,
    Alison

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you replaced your computer, your phone, sees your computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to your phone or music ripped on your own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from your phone using third party software, before you do anything else:
    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php
Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
    1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under Preferences>Devices in itunes(under the edit menu if using Windows).
    2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Address Book & iCal) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
    3. Connect your phone, iTunes running, do not sync at this point.
    4. Store>Authorize this computer.
    5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
    6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
    7. Right click again and select backup.
    8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go.

  • New iMac- how to transfer iTunes?

    hi everyone
i recently bought a new imac, but my itunes is stil on my old laptop. i have an ipad 2 and iphone 3gs which i sync with itunes on my laptop, i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to transfer all the content accross to my imace so that the itunes on there becomes my default itunes and my devices recognise it as the default itunes. at the moment it comes up "your device is synced with another libary, erasse and sync?" something like that. bu ti just want to know how to transfer all my conent accross and for it to then be my default itunes. i tried the home sharing thing but it cant always find my computer and when i go on to "check for available downloads" it says i have all the available downloads on my imac even though i don't as i have recently purchased songs on my iphone but itunes on my imac says i don't have any purchases to download.
would much apreciate any help as i am looking to get rid of my laptop.
    thanks
    Tom

You don't tell us what model laptop you have. You may be able to connect the two computers:
[How to use FireWire target disk mode|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661] - includes description of hardware and software requirements.
Target Disk Mode - Mac OS X 10.6 Help: Transferring files between two computers using FireWire - [http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8443.html]
    Then:
What are the iTunes library files? - [http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1660] talks about where files are usually located.
[iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Music folder|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449] - Apple support document, outlining a process that may be a bit more involved than is necessary for most.  Added note suggested by Chris CA: Item #14 should be update to highlight the words "iTunes media folder". "14 After the folder has been copied, locate your original iTunes Media folder, and drag it to the Trash or Recycle Bin."
If you haven't done a lot of personal configuring of how iTunes manages your media you can go with the simple version here:

  • How to transfer Outlook content on PC to iPhone?

I figured out how to sync iTunes on my desktop computer with my phone, but that doesn't do me any good because there isn't any content in iTunes.  So how do I get my Outlook data into iTunes?  Contacts are the most important thing, but I'm also interested in transferring my calendar and tasks.
By the way, I have no itention of transferring my Outlook content using iCloud, at least for now.  I assume (hope) it can be done without iCloud.

Thanks, ios decipher.  This isn't quite working yet.  Hope you or someone else can help me.
    I have completed these steps:
    "- connect iphone to pc
    - open itunes(if it does not open automatically)
    - navigate to your iPhones summary page
    - select the info tab(to the right of summary)"
It's not possible to complete the next step ("- select sync contacts and sync calendars") because there is nothing to "select" under Sync Contacts or Sync Calendars.  Under Sync Contacts, there is this text: "Your contacts are being synced with your iPhone over the air.  Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on your iPhone."  The same message is under Sync Calendars.
I don't know if changing my over-the-air sync settings is the thing to do here, but at any rate it isn't possible for me to do that either: I combed through all the settings options on my phone, and didn't see anything like this.
Nor are there any sync seetings in iTunes that improve this situation.
    Any ideas?
