How to transfer iTunes Library/iPhone data from PC to Mac?
Hi,
I have just started using my Mac Mini. This is my first mac.
I need to copy my iTunes Library from my PC to Mac.
I searched for a solution and most of them advise to simply copy the iTunes folder to my Mac.
The problem is I am not sure if this approach will preserve my album ratings/playlist/playcounts/album art.
Most important, I wonder if this will transfer my iPhone data as well or not.
My contacts and stuff on iPhone are crucial to me. I need to be able to plug in my iPhone to my Mac and not be worried about losing my previous data.
Any suggestions?
I am running leopard and am on wifi. I can transfer files over wifi.
The Apple store will do this for you.
You can call Apple Support and they will walk you through it.
You can type "move itunes library from pc to mac" into the google search bar.

How to transfer itunes library to different user account on mac
how do i transfer all my music, album art, play count, movies, apps, to a different user account on my mac?
Is there a way to have purchased songs located in the Music list on iTunes of two Users and three locations: 1. on the same iMac computer that has two users (we both share the same iTunes account) and 2. on a separate laptop. Two users, same iTunes account, three locations. Possible? I have tried Home Sharing and it will not let me drag the songs from one account to the other; either on the same computer, or to the laptop. I have transferred TV Shows from the laptop to the imac using an iPod. I thought the Home Sharing feature would eliminate this need to manually transfer songs, movies, TV shows etc... What am I missing here?

How to transfer a set of data from Excel spread sheet to an Access database
hi,
Can any one please tell me how to transfer a set of data from Excel spread sheet to an Access database using SQL query.I'm using java API currently. I have done all sorts of ODBC connection in administrative tools.The file is in correct location. I have done certain coding but with errors.Help me to get rid of these errors,
Coding:*
try
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
Connection datacon=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:exdata","",""); *//For Excel driver*
Connection datacon1=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:stock1","",""); *// For mdb driver*
Statement datast=datacon.createStatement();
Statement datast1=datacon1.createStatement();
ResultSet excelrs=datast.executeQuery("select item_code,sdata,closing_stock from phy "); *//phy is the excel file*
while(excelrs.next())
String ic=excelrs.getString("item_code");
System.out.println(ic);
String d=excelrs.getString("sdate");
double cs=excelrs.getDouble("closing_stock");
int dbrs=datast1.executeUpdate("insert into second values('"+ic+"','"+d+"',"+cs+")"); *//second is the mdb*
excelrs.close();
}catch(Exception e)
System.out.println(e);
Error:*

No i haven't mixed up.But the file from where i have to retrieve the data is in csv format.Even though i created another csv driver.and tried but i cud not find a solution to load/transfer a set of records from one file(in Excel/csv format) to another file(in mdb format).plz help me.Is there any other methods for this data transfer.A csv file is NOT an excel file.
The fact that Excel can import a csv file doesn't make it an excel file.
If you have a csv file then you must use a csv driver or just use other code (not jdbc) to access it. There is, normally, a ODBC (nothing to do with java) text driver that can do that. -
How to transfer iTunes library to an external drive (thats easy!) but keeping the playlists musics on the computer?
Many thanks!Select a single song with a broken link, press CTRL+I to Get Info, cancel when asked to locate the track and take a look at the Summary tab. Post back where iTunes is looking for the file. It begins file://localhost
Where is it really?
Please post back both paths so that I can make suggestions. Full paths please, exact spellings, you can replace your user name with <User> if needed.

How do I import Address Book data from an old Mac to a new one?
I just bought a MacBook using OS 10.5.1. How can I transfer the address card data from my old eMac using system 10.3.9? The two machines are currently connected with a Firewire cable, and my laptop is reading the eMac's hard drive.
It's actually very simple. In your old AB under the file menu click "Export Address Book Archive to your desktop. Then using the new system log in to the old via network and move the file from the old to the new.
Then open the new AB and click import AB archive"

HT4796 how to transfer itunes library from a crashed pc to a new macbook pro
i bought a brand new macbook pro for school and the day after i ordered it, my old pc crahes. my entire itunes library was on that computer as well as some other things for my phone. I dont know how to switch all my music and what not from my old pc now that i cant turn it on anymore.
Without having access to that hard drive, it's not possible to migrate the iTunes library.
phone? An iPhone ??
If it's an iPhone, you can transfer iTunes purchases from the iPhone to the Mac using iTunes.
You probably have to authorize the Mac before doing so.

How to transfer iTunes library along with iPhone settings on Leopard?
I intend to perform an install of Leopard on a new hard disk and will be importing the iTunes library from my old hard disk. Any idea if the import will also allow all the iPhone settings, notes, and other data will be imported along with the music and videos? I know that iCal and Addressbook settings can be imported easily. How about network settings, mails, notes, etc.?
I do not believe that you will be able to import those setting from an external drive.
I wouldn't worry about your iPhone stuff. Aside from the calendar, contacts, photos, music and videos there really isnt anything else that syncs from the iPhone yet. -
How to transfer iTunes library from external to internal drive?
Awhile back, I'd run out of space on my internal HD and transferred all of my content to a larger external HD. I don't remember "repointing" my iTunes Library (as you can do in iPhoto) but somehow, iTunes recognized this and has since been backing up and restoring my iPhone to/from it.
This however, has created quite a few problems (too numerous to mention) and so, having recently installed a larger HD in my internal, I now want to re-point iTunes back to it.
How is this achieved?Unless you have disabled iTunes organizing media and copying to media folder in your iTunes preferences settings all your media should be going to wherever you have designated as your media location. You can use the organize feature in that preference grouping to ensure all media entered in the iTunes library is actually copied to that designated location.

How to transfer iTunes library from Mac Mini to New Macbook Pro?
I have my wife's iPad and iPhone synced to our Mac Mini. I purchased a new Macbook Pro for her. I want to have her iPhone and iPad now sync to the Macbook Pro and not lose any apps or data along the way. Both machines are running iTunes 11.2.1. I have read other tutorials about transfering but they are off old versions of iTunes. The new iTunes doesn't allow you to right click the device and "Transfer Purchases" manually any more. I have home share turned on and have already transfered all the music to the new Macbook.
Can someone write up a quick step by step that would allow me to sync to her new Pro without losing her app data and contacts?
I also manually sync devices on all machines instead of auto sync on plugin.
Thanks.I think the method for transferring libraries hasn't changed since the very first version of iTunes.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.
If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.) -
How to Transfer iTunes Library from Windows to Mac
I'm having some trouble moving my iTunes library from my old Windows XP Dell to my new MacBook Pro. I used my iPod video on the Dell, but now that I have a Mac, I want all my songs to be moved over there. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do this. I looked at the Apple Support pages, but none of them address this particular issue. Can someone guide me on how to do transfer my library?
Thanks!the ipod now showing up in my computer or wherever is probably because the ipod is not set for disk use. go to the ipod settings in itunes and fink the check box where it says "enable disk use" this should make the ipod show up. now you should be able to put the songs onto the ipod as a music file to transfer them. other methods of transfer could be an external hard drive, a travel drive, a usb cable, or the most convenient but frustrating way is to open the ipod folder in my computer... and nvm i cant remember how to do it and dont have a working ipod at the moment to find out. ill post that solution later. i will say it involves opening the folder where the music is saved on the ipod, copying them onto the computer and renaming every single file. this is convienient only because it doesnt require modification or movement of any songs to the ipod because it uses the ones on there. all the files renamed with random letters and numbers when put on the ipod so youll have to reorganize all songs

How to transfer Itunes library from Windows XP to new Imac?
I have just purchased a new Imac and want to transfer my Itunes library from my Windows XP pc to new Imac. I have both computers on an Airport wireless home network. If this proves to be difficult, can I use a jump drive? Thanks
iMac Mac OS X (10.4.5)I just got a shiny new Mac, and don't want to lose my music library!
No need! iTunes for Windows is almost exactly identical to iTunes for Mac, and switching over is actually very easy.
First thing you're going to have to do is figure out a data route. Although you can technically use CDs or DVDs, in order to best transfer all data, including playlists and ratings, you'll want another method.
If you have a network set up, you're good to go.
An external hard drive will work as well, just remember that Windows won't read a Mac formatted disk. The iPod is also an external hard drive, and can be used in the same way.
<hr>
Once you have the method set up, you're going to have to prepare iTunes.
Open iTunes for Windows, and hit Edit>Preferences>Advanced, and make sure that the folder listed is \My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music.
Next, hit Consolidate Music Library. This action is irreversible, and it will make sure that all of your music is put in the aforementioned 'iTunes Music' folder. Shut iTunes, and move on.
Now you're going to have to move the info to the Mac. If you have an external hard drive, drag the iTunes folder, located within My Documents\My Music onto it. If you have a network set up, copy the iTunes folder to a location that can be accessed by the Mac.
Now, on the Mac, open either the external HDD, or the network folder, and copy the folder iTunes to the Home/Music folder.
Start up iTunes on the Mac, and everything should be in place.
Cleaning up
If you have music purchased from the iTunes Music Store, you're going to have to authorize your Mac. If you're not going to be using your Windows machine for iTMS songs anymore, you may want to deauthorize it. Either way, this article has all of the information you need: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93014
If you're not going to be using the Windows machine for music, you can safely delete the music from it, as it is now on the Mac. However, unless it is actually bothering you there, there's no reason to do so. Redundancy is great for data.
About an iPod:
First, Apple has a doc about using the iPod to switch. It has some great info about moving your documents, emails, etc. However, the method of music transfer there doesn't save most of your library data.
Second, you may want to reformat your iPod for the Mac. The advantage, basically, is some transfer speed. The disadvantage is Windows' inability to read Mac disks without 3rd party software. Either way, the doc on formatting (restoring) is here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983#One
That's it! Your music collection should be up and running in iTunes for Mac. A couple of places to check out, both showing the 'extras' of the Mac version of iTunes vs. Windows:
