How to transfer movie to ipod classic? Other questions too

I have been using an ipod mini for ages, just gave it to my daughter and bought a 80gb ipod classic. When I set up sync movies, does it copy every movie from my movie folder to my ipod? It doesn't seem to work even I set it up properly. Can I copy movie manually? I have copied 2gb of music last night, this morning I plug my ipod to sync the address book, eject properly, the songs are gone! Photos are still there though. Do these ipods come in window format? In itune it shows window format, it makes me wonder, I only connect ipod to my macbook pro. Thanks!

Not if you choose to sync selected movies. There should be options for you when you choose to auto sync movies.
Do these ipods come in window format?
Yes. For quite a while now all new iPods come Windows formatted out of the box.

  • How much physical movement is iPod Classic supposed to be able to endure?

I have the 120GB iPod Classic and I go out power walking, for about 45 min. to an hour at a time. I had been putting the iPod in the pocket of my gym shorts and I'm wondering if the jostling is causing a problem. I keep having to reformat the iPod, re-load all the music, re-set my settings to how I want them to be, which is a huge pain in the you-know-what. I only go out and do this about three times a week, but every time I do, the iPod quits working after 15 or 20 minutes, necessitating the complete restore. I don't know about you, but this seems unacceptable to me. I have tried holding the iPod in my hand while doing the power walk and so far I have not had to do a restore after three outings.
Is having the iPod in my pocket making for too much physical movement for the hard drive to function??? I'm not running, but I am fast-walking, like, race walking.

Hey, oliverwitthus, this is very interesting information!
I can't bring up diagnostic tests - how do you do that, exactly?
I pressed the center, select button and Menu, held for six seconds, which then brings up an screen with only the apple on it.
I tried at various times to press the center select button and rewind, while the apple was showing, after it went back to the normal iPod menu, short button press, held for a long time - I'm not getting the diagnostic menu. Are you sure that's how to get there? I really want to try this out but I'm not getting anything.
I did get the armband, and even with the armband,it still jiggles around too much. And mind you, I'm not running, just walking really fast. No up and down bouncing. It still crapped out on me and necessitated a restore. Now, I hold it in my hand as gently as possible while racewalking/powerwalking and it usually is okay, but it's far from reliable. What a crappy product!! This thing is only suitable for stationary use. At some point I'm going to get a solid state player of some kind and it may not be an iPod.

  • How to transfer music from iPod classic to mac

I recenty bought a new mac because the hard drive crashed on my old one. All my wifes music is on her ipod classic and we would like to transfer it to itunes. I asked the guy at the apple store and he said there was no "apple" way to do it, and then told me to google it. I did not back up my computer for whatever reasons, but wont make the same mistake twice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can always transfer purchases http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848 which apple should of told you about. But now we want the good stuff so here is the best free program I found to do it http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/products/musicrescue/.

  • How to transfer pictures from ipod classic to my new imac

Hello , I am a bit of a MAC novice so be gentle! (newest imac with most up to date itunes and mountain lion)
I have an Ipod classic with almost 600 pictures on that I wish to transfer to my new IMAC yet I cannot find an easy way to do this short of buying some extra software. I would appreciate any solutions.

I think iPhoto should see them, and the Image Capture utility that came with your Mac will also see pictures on cameras and iPods/iPhones/iPads. Once the pictures are listed in Image Capture, you can drag them to any folder on your computer.

  • How to transfer photos from iPod classic (earlier version) to my mc

I just brought a new imac and I am trying to transfer my photos from my ipod classic earlier version (software version 1.3, 30GB) to my iMAC.

The photos syned to the iPod are very low res versions of the original photos, optimized to fit on the iPod's small screen while taking up as little space in storage as possible.  They are stored in a single special database file.  You cannot use iTunes to transfer them to the Mac, and if you could, they would look bad blown up to a larger size on the iMac's screen.
There is a setting on the iPod's Photos screen in iTunes (a checkbox) that says Include full-resolution photos.  IF that setting was checked when you synced the photos to the iPod, you can Enable disk use and find the originial full res photo files in the Photos folder (on the iPod).
Otherwise, you should transfer the original photo files from your previous computer, if possible.

  • How to transfer photos from ipod classic to pc

i have followed the instructions on a previous post but its still not showing my photos on the computer can anyone help me to do this without deleting my photos i have 2000 to transfer.

You need a third-party program. PhoneView and Touch Copy work for iOS devices like the iPod touch. They may work for the iPod classic. You posted in the iPod touch forum.

  • How can I play my ipod classic 30G thru my older home stereo? Radio Shack guy sold me a head phone adapter to use in the head phone socket on the stereo with the other end attaching to the ipod. It doesn't do anything. Are there settings I need to make on

How can I play my ipod classic 30 G thru my home stereo system? The guy at Radio Shack sold me an adapter for the older, larger headphone adapter on my stereo receiver with an ipod attachment on the other end. It doesn't work. Do I need to make special settings on the ipod? Should it work? I read elsewhere that I need a Y connector.  Thanks for any help.

The headphone jak on your stereo is an output, not an input.  You cannot route music into your stereo throughthe headphone jack.
You can get a cable that connect from the headphone output of the ipod to the stereo inputs on your stereo:

  • My laptop died, how can I plug my ipod classic into a new pc with out losing all my music, over 10,000 songs?!

my laptop died, how can I plug my ipod classic into a new pc with out losing all my music, over 10,000 songs?!
    Please help!

Was your iPod previously set up to Manually Manage (where you dragged/dropped the music) or was it set to auto sync (where it started sycning as soon as you plugged it in.)?
If it was set to Manual, you have no worries. Just continue on your way.
If it was set to Auto, you will have to transfer your purchases or redownload them from the iTunes store.
You're either going to have to get the other music back from the websites/CDs you got them from before or find an iPod ripping software program that will do it for you.

  • Can't transfer movie to iPod

I got a digital download with a Bluray purchase and (regrettably) decided to download it through itunes. I thought it would then be an easy transfer to my iPod Classic. This was not the case, however. When I try to transfer it, a pop says "'Movie' was not copied to the ipod ('my ipod') because it cannot be played on this ipod."
I've seen some people say that the "Create a new version" has worked for them, but when I go there, all the options are greyed out.
    Please, can anyone help?
    Thank you!

    Hello, LaylaSparrow.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you received a Digital Copy when you purchased a Blu-ray movie and are running into an issue syncing to your iPod Classic.  I am curious if you are going straight to the Create an iPod version option or are you selecting the movie and then selecting the Create an iPod version?  The attached article below may help walk you through this process.
iTunes: Videos may be unable to sync to iPhone, iPad, or iPod
