How to transfer photos from pc to ipod

Question

I am trying to add photos from my pc to my ipod touch 4g. On iTunes, I click on the "photos" tab and select a folder, the photos are transferred but the photos that were already on my ipod get deleted. How do I stop this from happening? Also, how do I keep the folder from duplicating once it is on my ipod...under photos---albums, I have two folders 1. photo library 2. name of the folder that was transferred, and they both contain the exact same pictures. Why does this happen, how can I just have 1 album.
One more question, I can't seem delete photos that are already on my ipod, how do I delete an entire folder and how do I delete just a couple of photos?

Select EVERYHTING (All pics/folders/albums) that you want ot be on the ipod then sync.  If it is not selected then it will not be on the ipod.

You do NOT have duplicates.  This is how the ipod works.  It is normal and correct.  ALL pics synced to the ipod can be accessed from "Photo Library".  Those exact same pics can also be accessed from  the albums.  There are not two copies.  Just as a book can be in the public library and also in the fiction section, one pic is in the Photos Library and in the album.  This is the way it works.

You delete them them the same way you put them there, the sync process.  Deselect the album in itunes and sync.
Don't think of the ipod as a external storage device.  It simply mirrors the selected content from your computer. Whatever you have selected in itunes will be on your ipod.  If you do not want it on the ipod, then do not select it.
