How to transfer Playlists without firmware

So I bought a new PC and wanted to know how I can transfer my playlists without using firmware from another PC?  Any ideas? (I know this question has probably been asked many times)

It does not require firmware.  You copy the iTunes folder from the old computer to an external hard drive (or use its most recent backup), and then from the drive to the new computer.
If your iTunes library is not already consolidated, then run Consolidate before doing the above.
Note that the iTunes folder contains all the content as well as the ratings, playlists, playcounts, etc.  If you use the above procedure, your library on the new computer will appear identical to the old one.

  • How to transfer playlist from Iphone 6 to Macbook pro

I lost my playlist on itunes, recovered from backup but playlist came back empty or missing songs. I have them on my iphone. How can I transfer them to my itunes on my mac? I am on Maverick and Itunes 12.

I have also meet this annoying issue a few days ago, and I google on the internet to search how to how to transfer playlist from iPhone to iTunes, and finally find the answer, I hope  that can help you.
Connect the iPhone and select it in iTunes. Click the gray disclosure triangle the left of the iPhone name in iTunes. Select the playlist you want on the iPhone then right click - Export.... Save it as .xml file on the desktop. Then iTunes menu File > Library > Import playlist and select the .xml file you saved on the desktop.
Besides, if you don't want to use this way to transfer playlists, you can try iPhone Transfer, this is a convenient software which can help you a lot in transferring playlists. Hope you can solve this problem finally.

  • How to transfer music without syncing

The harddrive and video card on my Mac died recently and I didn't get a chance to back up my files, which means I've lost just about all of my music files, but it's still all on my ipod which has left me in absolute fear of syncing my ipod with itunes... I have music on the computer I'm now using that I need to have on my ipod but I don't know how to transfer it onto my ipod without losing what is already there, is there any way to get a drag and drop thing happening on my ipod so I don't have to sync it with itunes and lose everything that's already on my ipod?

    Hi amarama,
I would reccomend using alternitive software to iTunes to sync the music. Here is an article on about.com that may help: http://mp3.about.com/od/essentialsoftware/tp/Top-5-Alternatives-To-Itunes-Best-F ree-Software-For-Syncing-Music-To-Your-Ipod.htm

hi i cant seem to transfer playlists to a new pc ,also home sharing will not show on dropdown

Because that is not the way it is designed to work.
Why do you refuse to do something as simply as copying the media from the old computer to the new computer to resolve the problem?

  • How to play playlists without shuffle?

HOw do I turn off shuffle.  I cannot play a playlist or an album without "shuffle" mode engaged?

While listening to a song, any song, tap the artwork one time to bring up additional controls.  You will find the shuffle option on the right hand side.  It looks like to arrows that cross over each other. Tap this icon until it turns white, meaning that it is off.

  • How to transfer playlists from windows to a Mac

My Windows PC recently crashed and I bought a Mac as a replacement (great purchase).  I have copied my Itunes music library to the Mac (from a backup) successfully but cannot restore my playlists.  I tried plugging in my ipod & ipad to export/import the playlists but when I import the playlist is says that certain songs are missing and what appears in the copied playlist are some very different songs from the original playlist.  Any ideas how I can copy a playlist from an ipod/ipad back to a Mac in these circumstances without having to manually rebuild them.  Thanks

Do you have the .xml and itunes library files from your old computer in the itunes folder ?? use those to replace the new ones and you should be just fine.

  • How to transfer playlist from windows xp to Mac

I purchased some songs in iTunes on a Windows XP system. But my CD burner doesn't work,
so now I want to transfer the same playlist to my MacBook Pro so I can burn the CD on the Mac.
How do I transfer iTunes Playlist from a Windows XP computer to a MacBook Pro??
    thanks!!

Why don't you just transfer a copy fo the songs to the MacBook and recreate the playlist manually?
You see inside the iTunes folder on the PC (or the Mac) is a XML file that you can open in a text editor/notepad type program with "find and replace" ability.
As long as the songs are the same on both machines and organized the same in iTunes (Advanced preferences), their pathnames should be the same, all except of course everything BEFORE the   /TunesFolder/.....
So if you transfer a copy of this file on a USB key to the Mac from the PC and "find and replace" (Text Edit) all the partial pathnames from the PC to the Mac pathname. Then replace the Mac XML file in the iTunes folder with the one from the PC, when iTunes loads the file when it starts it will locate all your songs.
Your going to lose the playlists on the Mac natually, or you can backup the file before replacing and return it when your done?
    Making sense?

  • How to transfer playlists to USB?

    Hi
I would like to transfer my playlists to a USB. My car can play music from the USB and I categorized my music in the playlist.
    Thanks

You'll have to read your car's manual on how to do this, if at all possible.  Such items rarely have an iTunes interface, normally just supporting Window Media Player or some such.  You would at least have to tell us what player this is since we have no idea what car you have or what's in it.

  • How to transfer playlists from old computer

I have managed to get all the music files transferred to a new computer from a back up hard drive after old computer crashed but do not see any playlists in itunes on the new computer. What do I have to do to transfer those over - which file do I need and how do I do that?

Sorry nobody got to your sooner, we are all volunteers here.
If you have a copy of your OLD iTunes folder, there is a .xml file located in there that contains your playlists and locations on the former drive where your music can be located.
By clever "find and replace" in a Text program to fix the path names, and if your copied your music in bulk in the same folders as on the former drive, then you can match your music locations and preserve your playlists.
    Good Luck

  • How to transfer playlist files to USB disk

Okay, so I have a nice playlist full of 8 GB of music, now I want to transfer those files (in no particular order) onto my mini USB thumb drive to use in my car. What is the best way to do this in an organized way? I was thinking of right clicking on every album and "reveal in finder", then manually transfer that album's folder to keep it all organized in the USB drive. I'm trying to setup a few USB drives to function like an old multi-CD changer would. Any better ways before I waste some time?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the response Limmos. I tried this, but unfortunately all the files go into a single directory, so there is no folder organization anymore, so I loose all my album searching options in the car (requires folders).
I thought about this last night and I had an idea. I'm thinking of copying all the files to the drive as you described above, then restarting itunes with the option key held down, forcing it to create a new library, adding all the files with are now on the drive to the new blank library, and then run the Library> organize library. Would that work?

  • How to transfer playlist to from macbook to macbook air

can i transfer with icloud to my ipad and then icloud transfer to mackbook air???  I didn't by the songs in the playlist on the macbook, so they didn't transfer automatically and I have 1300 songs to transfer.  It takes too long saving them to a bunch of cd's.

You want to go from your MacBook to iCloud, then to your iPad, back to iCloud, then to MacBook Air?
Just use -> Home Sharing and go straight from MacBook to Macbook Air.
