How to transfer Quicktime Pro for windows to mac?

My step-father recently purchased quicktime pro for windows. Oddly enough he received his new iMac about a week later. While trying to activate Quicktime Pro on his mac he realized that pro purchased for windows will only work on windows. Is there anyway to transfer the purchase to mac?

Sorry, you (he) have to buy a separate license for QT Pro for Mac.

You can download from this link and validate with your serial number. You can run LR5 on both machines.

  • Quicktime Pro for Windows

I bought Quicktime Pro for windows because of the beautiful advertisement. It had to be possible to convert every video into every format possible.
I tried to convert several mpg en mov files (from Sony camera) into mp4 and 3GP. Playing of these mpg and mov- files in QT is not a problem, even with audio. So it doesn't seem a codec problem. But after exporting these files into other format, there is no audio anymore.
If I change a mov or mpg file and save it in the same file-format, audio is not corrupted.
What is it that I do wrong?

QT does not export sound from muxed mpeg files: QT Mpeg Limitations. This freeware should do the trick: Mpeg StreamClip
If the mpegs in question are mpeg-2 you will need to buy the mpeg2playbackcomponent from Apple ($20 US). Note that these programs will not work with encrypted Hollywood movies.

  • Quicktime Pro for Windows Tutor

Can anyone steer me to a site that has some basic instructions on how to use the various fuctions of QT Pro (for Windows). I'll spent several hours today googling for this type of info and haven't found too much. I know this is a forum for prople having specific problems with QTP, and I have read dozens of pages here but I would still like a good primer on how best to use the various fuctions. My primary interest at the present is making home movies (.mov) and editing them with QTP and Windows Movie Maker.
    Thanks

  • QuickTime Pro for Windows playback issue

    Hi,
I'm using QT Pro for Windows for time lapse. Most times during playback the video stops halfway (or thereabouts) and then after a few seconds, jumps to the end.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    HP HPE-110t, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU 2.5GHz, 64bit, 6GB
    Windows 7 Pro
These are a series of JPEG (5184 x 3465) taken with a Canon T31 and opened with the QT Pro "Open Image Sequence" stored on my C: drive
I get the same result no matter how many frames I load. The playback does not always stop halfway, seems random. I have also noticed that if I play it back multiple times (10-12) the playback does get smoother.
    Thanks.

  • How do I get Quicktime Pro for Windows to save audio files?

No matter what I do QTP for Windows only saves .mov files. I am trying to create a new audio recording but the only file type I can save is movies. I bought this product specifically to try and migrate old cassette music to itunes. Any clues as to how I should go about it?

Have you tried Audio Capture software? This is dead easy on a Mac, plug it in and use something like SoundFlower (free) or Audio Hijack Pro to grab the sound.
If you have registered QT Pro you should get:
Menu > File > Export (Options): a wide range of formats
May I ask why you are doing this? Unless the tape version is unique, you should avoid recording from old tape as it is the worst of all worlds. The quality is bad and changing it to digital is not going to make it better even with a lot of editing.
Just bite the bullet and get CDs (which you can easily save to digital from iTunes) or buy the digital version directly. That way is much less painful and you have something you may actually want to listen to.

  • Is there a 64 bit Quicktime Pro for Windows?

I just purchased a 64 bit vista machine for video editing and I'm looking for a 64 bit version of quicktime pro. I've installed quicktime on this machine and notice that it runs as a 32 bit process. I want to take full advantage of my hardware, and therefore want a version of QT Pro that is made for the 64 bit architecture. There is no information on apple's website that I could find about this. Does anyone in the community know if apple has made such a version of QT Pro???
    Thanks!

I believe the libraries for QuickTime (QTKit) are indeed 64 bit. However, 64 bit under OSX is very different from 64 bit under Windows. There are a few good websites that can help explain the difference, here's one that is fairly straightforward.

  • Text tracks no longer visible in Quicktime Pro for Windows 7.7.2?

I opened a text track in Quicktime Pro 7.7.2, and none of the text was visible. I verified with a text track that I know used to work a few months ago, and it also was not visible.
I rolled back to Quicktime Pro 7.6 for Windows, and re-opened the files, and they worked again. Has anyone else encountered this issue? I know the 7.7.2 update involved a security patch to the way text tracks were handled.
    Thanks.

    I love computers.
Have managed to fix this already. Been working the issue for a few days now, and a few minutes after writing the above post I decided to reset the Time Capsule to factory default settings.
After entering all my details again (used same network names, passwords etc) the Time Capsule was rebooted. When it came back on line - guess what? Yep, the MyBook WD drive is now visibile. I can connect via the network from my other machines to the drive, and iTunes is back.
So - thought I would post my resolution in case it helps others.

  • Quicktime Pro for Windows crashes after flattening file

I'm running QuickTime Pro 7.7.1 for Windows.  A few weeks ago, I opened an M4V file, cut out some segments, and invoked "Save As" a quicktime .MOV file.  Given the option to save as a "reference" movie or a "self contained" movie, I chose "reference" movie.  Said "reference" movie plays exactly as I intended, as long as the original M4V file is present.  Today I wanted to eliminate that requirement, so I opened the reference movie and saved it again to a new .MOV file, this time choosing the "self contained" option.  A "flattening movie" dialog appeared, and when it got to 100%, Quicktime crashed!
I tried the same experiment, one running Windows XP Pro and one running Windows 7 Pro, and got the same result each time.  What can I do now?

I haven't [yet] tried it with other M4V files, but I will and get back to you.
BTW, after it crashed, I restarted QuickTime and opened the newly-created "self contained" movie and it seemed to play OK,  So despite the inconvenience of having to restart, the crash didn't seem to affect the end product of my work.

  • How to reinstall Quicktime Plugin for Safari in Mac

I recently deleted all plugins for Safari in Mac, in order to fix unusual (slow at times) speed of safari.
When I watch a trailer at apple.com/trailers, it works fine.
However, when I try to watch a HD version of the trailer, I get this message
"The document “stone-fte1_480p.mov” could not be opened. "
Please advise how to reinstall the necessary Quicktime plugin in order for it work fine like before.

    Hi and welcome....
Insert your install disc or your Snow Leopard disc. It should open when it mounts the disc on your Desktop. If not, double click the icon.
Open the Optional Installs folder then the Optional Installs.mpkg folder.
Go through the install process. When you get to Installation Type / Custom Install
    Select QuickTime 7
Click Continue. Restart your Mac. Then repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
If you don't have your install disc handy, you can download the QT software here. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL923

  • QuickTime Pro for Windows cuts off after about a second?

Pro version of QuictTime worked fine at first on Vista 32bit. (Don't judge me becasue I'm using Vista, please!) Used it for video editing last fall. Now I find any video or audio file I try to play cuts off at about 1 minute. Only way to get it to play an entire movie is to turn on "Play All Frames" or else mess with playback speed -- and in both cases audio gets turned off. I have tried resetting just about every preference and view setting I can find. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Was especially careful to make sure I did not have playbe restricted by means of "Play Selection Only." Furthermore, teh start-stop bracketting controls have no effect.
This happens with all kind of video and audio tracks.
I am at a total loss. Searched Windows Registry for something amiss but found nothing. Even being a software developer myself I just don't see what is amiss. Could this be due to some nasty codec? Conflict with other software? Only new media software on this machine I know of is Adobe's and I never even use that.
    Help?

I haven't [yet] tried it with other M4V files, but I will and get back to you.
BTW, after it crashed, I restarted QuickTime and opened the newly-created "self contained" movie and it seemed to play OK,  So despite the inconvenience of having to restart, the crash didn't seem to affect the end product of my work.

  • How to use Logic Pro for Windows 7?

I'm autistic, and am interesting in the music keyboards Apple sells. I would like to get Garageband and/or Logic Pro, but I have Windows 7 so I'm not sure if those kinds of software would work on that kind of system. Would they work on Windows 7, or if there's anything else I have to do?

    Hi,
None of the software (Logic, Garageband) is compatible between Mac OSX and Windows 7.
Your best choice is to look for similar programs avaialble on Windows.
There are several..  "Cubase" by Steinberg, "Sonar" by 12-Tone, and "ProTools" by Digidesign.
