How to transfer songs from one iPod to another?

I have three ipods - iPod #1 has only been synced to iTunes. I want to transfer songs from iPod #2 to iPod #3 without having all of the existing iTunes from iPod #1 getting synced to iPod #3. How do I upload iPod #2 to iTunes and keep it isolated, and then sync only thos songs to iPod #3?
I can not figure out how to upload the songs to my Library without losing them in the muck of the thousands of other songs that are already in the Library.
I am a new user but I find that navigating iTunes is extremely non-user friendly...
Thank you!

Haven't you got your songs in iTunes? Just connect your new one and it will update from your Library.
However if you have deleted them from the PC, there are a number of third party utilities that can retrieve the files from your iPod.

  • How to transfer songs from one iPOD to another one?

On my old iPOD I've collected songs for various libraries (from friends and my two computers) but stupid iTUNES won't let me transfer my songs from this iPOD back to Library.
So, now when I've got a new a iPOD, I have to put all the songs there again, because iTUNES again won't let me transfer songs from one iPOD to another iPOD, when both are connected to the same computer!!
    What should I do?
Apple as an innovator company should come up with an update to solve this easy issue.

You can't without a third party app. If you didn't purchase the Music with your Apple ID or if the music was imported from CD's on your friends iTunes library, syncing will not work ....nor will transferring purchases.
Look at this app .... TouchCopy

  • IS IT POSSIBLE TO TRANSFER SONGS FROM ONE IPOD TO ANOTHER?

I have an ipod full of songs and want to transfer those songs to a different Ipod. (My computer is broken so I cannot simply connect the second ipod to my computer) If I can get my hands on a new computer, is it possible to transfer the contents of my first ipod to the computer, then transfer those songs onto the second ipod?
    Thanks.

With the exception of songs purchased from the iTunes Store (which can be transferred from an iPod using iTunes), you have to use a third party utility. I use this one called Music Liberator
    http://www.zeleksoftware.com/
    but there are many others.
Once you get the songs off the iPod and into the new computer's iTunes, syncing the other iPod will complete the transfer.

i cant transfer the content of my imported cds from 1 ipod 4th to a ipod 5th gen.

The tracks must still be stored in your iTunes library first before they can be transferred to another device.  If they aren't currently in an iTunes library, see this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • How do I transfer songs from one ipod to another?

I currently have a faithful ipod mini and am wanting to upgrade it but dont want to lose my songs. All of my songs are only saved on the ipod and not within my itunes library as it takes up too much space on my laptop. Please help!

You will need to move the songs back to your iTunes library. If you don't have enough room on your laptop, you should really consider investing in an external hard drive. They're cheap for the peace of mind. What would happen if you lost your mini?
To move the music, I'd check out Zevoneer's regular postings on how to move music. They give some of the most comprehensive instructions. For example, see this thread:

  • How do I transfer songs from one ipod video to another

I want to transfer songs from one ipod to another, but how do i do it. 2 itunes?

You can't transfer directly from one iPod to another, the songs have to be in iTunes and you update your second iPod from there. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved also it was written long before iTunes 7 so it requires a little adaptation as the iPod preferences are no longer in the location described. Also it won't transfer playlists or videos as far as I know. However if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes

It needs to go through iTunes.  But there is no way to transfer songs from iPod to iTunes library (except for music you purchased from iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your computer, add them to your iTunes library.  You can then sync your iPhone to the iTunes library.
Alternately, if you sign up for the iTunes Match service, your iTunes music library on your computer will become available from iCloud.  You can set your new iPhone (assuming you bought a "new" iPhone) to sync from iCloud, instead of from your computer's iTunes.  All of your music will be available wirelessly, wherever you have an Internet connection.

The geniusbar told me what to do, I understood but there is still a problem for me >:/ It's not showing up though. Like "device."  Nothing is happening, and I tried as soon as I got home. Then after half an hour, then an hour, then 3 hours. My problem is that it's not showing up! It's stuck in recovery mode! There's still like 25% battery. So I have no idea why.

how do i transfer music from one ipod to another using itunes

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
There is more than one way, but to get it all on all devices, connect the first device to iTunes and choose to transfer the music from the device from the file menu. Once everything is in iTunes connect the second device, select the device in the device list, navigate to the music tab and check the content you wish to sync, click apply/sync.
