Is it a new drive or do you already have data on it ? If it is a new one, you might just want to format it with the Disk Utility else try to check the partition with the disk utility, your partition could be damaged.

    HI G.T.Morgan,
Can you please share the error message that you are getting ? Are you transfering the data using Time Machine or any third party Back up tool ? if yes , kindly not use that , as that could cause Adobe Softwares not to work . If you wish to download CS5 , kindly use the following link to download and install it directly on to your new machine .

  • HT1329 My old computer crashed but still have my IPOd with old music. How to transfer the music into new computer which has already music in it?

My old computer crashed and I still have my music in an IPod. How to transfer the music/playlists into a new computer which has already music in it? (Not possible to copy ITunes of old computer in IPod)
    Thanks

Lucky for you, I just found out how to get the music stored on your iPod by messing around with it. I'm not much of an Apple user (I only have a shuffle), so I'm not 100% sure it would work the same way as yours.. but it's worth a shot.
if your iTunes didn't sync with your iPod yet,... that would be great..
1, Make sure your iTunes does not automatically sync with your iPod (I don't know if this would help..)
2, Click on your iPod and go to settings, check "Enabe Disk Use"
Your iPod should now have a partition on My Computer called AFJCHAW's IPOD or whatever you named your iPod... If you go to that disk, you'll notice there's nothing in there.
3, Click on Organize at the top right part of Windows Explorer(Windows 7, don't know how in XP..), go th the Folder and search options, view tab, and click on show hidden files, folders, and drives.
If you go back to your disk, you should be able to find a folder
4, It'll be pretty straightforward then. Go to iPod_Control/Music. You'll find folders there. Inside the folders are each of your music files (they're renamed but the Details would still be about the same).
If you did get your music files back from this procedure, then, yay! it worked!!
If you didn't,.... it should've worked..

  • How to Transfer the iPhone from one computer to another Win XP

    All
I got my wife a new macbook pro, running Windows XP prof. She has an iphone 3G with 16 GB memory running 3.0.1. So..she wanted to transfer the sync function from her PC to her macbook. Of course, Apple was of NO help at all (but did want to charge us $69.95 since her iphone is out of warranty, and this was an iphone not a mac problem, hmmm..). Took me lots of digging, but here is how you transfer you iphone from one computer to another:
    1. Move you itunes library from the old computer to the new one. To do this, you do NOT just copy it. This is as good a link to use as any to see how to do it, but search the internet and you can find instructions:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-12519_7-10242259-49.html
    2. Transfer your applications you have purchased to the new computer. To do this, open itunes in the new computer, hook up your phone and click on File>transfer purchases (from itunes store) to computer. This will move your applications to the new computer.
    3. Export your MS outlook calendar, contacts, notes, etc. to the new computer by saving each of these categories as a PST file (file>export>then choose the category and type of file)...and then copy these PST files to your new computer and import them into MS outlook.
    4. Copy your playlists from itunes on your old computer to your new computer. This link may be helpful or search the internet again if you need to:

    5. Now...the important part...how to transfer all your settings from the iphone to the new computer....this is the part that was hard to find online, but finally got it: NOTE: THE BACKUP THAT ITUNES MAKES BACKS UP THE APPLICATION SETTINGS BUT NOT THE APPS SO THIS IS WHY YOU NEED TO TRANSFER THE APPS TO THE NEW COMPUTER. The settings have all the data you put into your apps, email settings, preferences, etc...so its a huge time save to transfer these to the new computer also.
-Sync your iphone with your old computer to have a backup in case you mess up...in that case you can restore from your old computer and start over
-Plug your iphone into the new ocmputer and start itunes. It will detect your phone (I assume you have already authorized your new computer to use the library and playlists and apps that you moved)
-Right click on the "iphone" on the left bar...you will see a popup menu...click on "BACKUP". Let it backup your iphone to the new computer. It will NOT sync the phone
-When the backup is done....copy the backup file to a temp directory to be safe. The backup is located in "documents and settings">user name>applications>apple computer>mobile sync. If you cannot see it, you need to open windows explorer (not internet explorer) and go to tools>folder options>view and click on "show hidden files and folders" Note YOU CANNOT JUST COPY THE BACKUP FROM THE OLD COMPUTER TO THE NEW COMPUTER AS SUGGESTED ON SOME WEB SITES...THIS DOES NOT WORK, ITUNES WILL NOT IDENTIFY THE BACKUP EVEN IF YOU PUT IT IN THE FOLDER IN THE NEW COMPUTER THAT MIRRORS THE FOLDER LOCATION IN THE OLD COMPUTER.
-OK now you are ready...click restore on the iphone and restore the phone to factory settings. This will happen in a few minutes (10-15 mins).
-The phone will reboot and itunes will recognize the phone again...as a restored phone. It will then ask you if you want to restore it from the backup..say YES. You then need to go through all the itunes tabs and click on everything you want to sync to the phone (playlists, movies, podcasts, ringtones, etc). Once you are done going thru the tabs click "apply" and the sync will start. Go out, to a movie, to bed, whatever because it will take hours to sync.
-Once the sync is done...voila...your iphone has been moved with ALL the settings to the new computer. Check it. Then you can delete the backup you put into the temp folder if it is OK
    -Deauthorize your old computer
This worked for Win XP...should work for Vista. The whole process took many hours so don't rush through it (i'm guessing 12 hours total work).
Can I send apple a bill for tech support?????

  • How to transfer the information to two new Tungsten E2s

My husband and I both have Palms.  My husband's Z22 died, and my Tungsten E2 is old and not holding a charge very well anymore.  I have purchased 2 new (used) Tungsten E2s.  I tried synching the new ones to the old ones just by plugging them in and hotsynching but obviously that didn't work....  Now I have 4 accounts on my computer.
First, how do I get my husband's information onto his new E2 and how do I get mine onto my new E2 without mixing them all together?  A step by step would be great.  I did this about 3 yrs ago when I switched from my old M model to the E2 but can't remember how to do it and can't find anything on the forum that really applies to this situation.  I've found bits and pieces of the process but I need it all in one place in the right order.  :-)  I know I have to make a copy of something (I'm not sure what or how or where).  What is the step-by-step?
Then, how do I delete the 2 new blank accounts I set up?  I am just trying to get a clean start for our two new ones.
    Thanks for your help.

A little more information for my previous post:
These "new" devices had been used for teaching purposes and if possible I'd like to retain the applications that are on them, just get our data added into the contacts and calendar.

  • How to synchronise the Iphone with a new computer

    Hi all,
I have been googling the internet, but haven't come accross any good information yet. So I give it a try here.
I recently switched from a PC with Windows/XP to an iMac. I synchronised my iPhone 3GS with the Itunes on the Windows machine. My music is installed on a NAS, so attaching the music to the Imac was relatively easy.
No I want to start synchronising the iPhone with the Mac without having to fear losing my contacts and Photos. I don't mind that I have to reload the music. Because as said above, I have all the music on a NAS.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers, Jan

Disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures taken with the phone and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your phone got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

  • How to transfer music from ipod to new mac

i cant figure out how to transfer music from my phone to my new mac

Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • When I plug my iPhone into my new mac it vibrates constantly?

i got a mac book pro (with retina display) yesterday and today I went to plug my phone in and it vibrates constantly? it goes from being connected to not being connected and it happens in both usb ports..

    Hey Rachael214,
Thanks for the question. I understand your iPhone seems to be disconnecting and reconnecting to your MacBook constantly. To troubleshoot this issue, please see the following article:
    iOS: Troubleshooting USB connection
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286
    1. Update to the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Plug the device directly into a high-power USB 2.0 port on the computer. If possible, use a USB port on the back of the computer.
Avoid plugging the device into a keyboard, display, or standalone hub. The USB ports on these accessories may be low-power or only offer USB 1.x connections.
    3. If you are using an accessory, remove the accessory and connect the device to the computer using only the Apple 30-pin to USB Cable or Lightning to USB Cable.
If you have access to additional Apple 30-pin to USB Cable or Lightning to USB Cables, try testing with another if the first one doesn't work.
    4. Restart your computer and device. To restart your device:
Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the Sleep/Wake button to turn it back on.
    5. Disconnect all USB devices from your computer, except for your keyboard and mouse. Then reconnect the iOS device. If the issue is resolved, reconnect other USB devices, testing after each connection.
If the issue persists and you are using virtualization software to run another operating system alongside Mac OS X, quit that software; it may create virtual USB ports that may be causing the issue. Or you can try to control or restrict access to USB ports while running the virtualization software.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • How to transfer just iLife libraries to new Mac

    Hi,
I just bought a new MBPr to replace my 5+ year old iMac.
The old iMac has been filled up with a bunch of stuff I arguably don't need any more (apps I don't use etc). And as I have a new Mac a frersh  start would seem sensible. I can reinstall MAS apps easily enough, and apart from Office (which I have the orginal disc for) other apps are easy enough to redownload.
I initally tried doing a straight MA based shift of my entire iMac, but have run into issues with MA not playing ball (issues I've seen other unanswered post on).
When I last bought a new Mac I thought I'd simply be able to drag and drop the iTunes/Photo libraries across from one Mac to another. I remember getting into all sorts of metadata issues so want to avoid that this time around.
Really, all I'm interested in pulling across are my iPhoto, iTunes, iMovie libraries an their associated metadata. Docs should be drag and dropable (one would assume?).
If MA isn't working for me are there any ways in which I can have iPhoto et al working on my new MBPr without any hickups?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
As I type  iTunes seems to be going OK, but iPhoto has been doing something a tad worrying.
I tried dragging from one Finder window to another (across a Mac to Mac Ethernet connection) and got a message saying that not all items could be copied as I don't have permission (might have been authority or such like) to copy them!
I then noticed that the iPhoto library icon is different on my older Mac than my new MBPr. A-ha... now I remember my old iMac can't upgrade to the newest version of iPhoto without a costly upgrade. My iMac is running iPhoto 09 v 8.1.2 (424) and the library iconis a picture of a photo frame, whereas on my brand spanking new MBPr the iPhoto Library is a normal looking Folder.
Could this be the reason for the quirky warning message? If so is there a workaround that doesn't involve me paying over £20 to upgrade iPhoto that I'm not going to use once I have switched over to my new Mac?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • How to transfer iweb files to my new mac?

I saved the folder I published to, and transferred it to my new mac, but it won't open in iweb on the new computer. There seems to be no option to "save as" in the iweb on the old computer, so I can't find where the iweb files are to transfer them. Can anyone help?

    D

I hope you still have your old mac!!! It sounds like you do...
Your iWeb data is stored, not in your actual html files, but in a file called Domain.sites which is stored in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. You should backup this file whenever you make big changes to your site, because if it gets lost or damaged, you will have to start all over. If you want to work on your site on another computer, copy this file to a thumb drive to move it around.
I have an Automator app on my site that will help you backup your Domain file(s). http://iweb.aardvarkland.com
