How to transfer voice memos from iphone to computer since iOS7 update

Since upgrading to iOS 7 voice memos are no longer being transfered from my phone to my computer when I plug it in. This was a simple, automated process in the past, now I can't seem to get it work at all. Does anybody out there know if Apple dropped the backup function for voice memos from the new operating system?
Frustratingly, I just spent 40 minutes on the phone with Apple "Support" and was told I was elevated to the highest level on this question. She actually told me that the "sync" process only ever went one way, from the computer to the phone. I asked her if that was the case, how did the old voice memos make it from my phone into the playlist in iTunes (that was created by iTunes for me) in the first place? She actually told me that it never worked that way! Please help!

When I plugged in my iPhone, the memos were not transferred, but when I clicked on "Sync" in iTunes, it created a Voice Memos playlist and my new recordings showed up.
This is the first time I ever tried using voice memos before.  It looks like syncing is done manually instead of automatically.  I got my answer from this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23658301#23658301

  • How to transfer voice memos from iPhone 4 to mac

When i connect my iPhone to my mac i don't get  voice memos option under syc music in iTunes, secondly my voice memos are too many and are larger in size so mail and message option doesn't work for me.
So what's the way of transferring memos to mac other than outside paid applications?????

I think you need to find a third-party tool to copy voice memos from iPhone to Mac because iTunes can't do it. And the only option Apple offers is to backup your iPhone, either to iTunes or iCloud. However, by doing this, voice memos are packed into the backup file package. You can't view them until restore your iPhone with the backup file.

  • How do you put Voice Memos from iPhone to computer?

I've had a very long chat with Apple Support and they don't seem to know the answer.
My voice memos are important and are above 30MB so emailing isn't an option.
I first synced my memos to my iTunes as usual (music doesn't sync with the library, bear in mind) and expected all my memos to appear, however they didn't. They appeared in the "on my device section" but I couldn't play them as the exclamation point appeared.
Under Apple's instruction I updated to the new iTunes, and now the previous memos don't even appear in the "on my device" section. They said it's likely to do with ios 8. The memos I want were created in ios 8. And now they've randomly been duplicated on my phone so I have two of each?
So after this iTunes update, I made a new memo, which again was duplicated, but now appears in the "on my device" part.
What do I do to put the memos onto my computer somehow? I really need them!

One new thing I learned from it is that Evernote which I use for keeping some text notes in sync among various devices has a voice memo capability. Those would be automatically transferred. The iPhone is connected to the mac.  i am in iTunes and I go to the Device listed as iPhone and click on music.
When I click on the box that says Sync Music, I get a message that says
Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies etc from this iPhone and sun with intones library...
I click cancel instead of remove and sync.    In the sync music window in light grey I can see tha Selected playlists, artist and albums and genres is selected and include voice memos is checked.
On summary I have Manually Manage Music and Videos checked.
I just got the phone and i see on p 110 of the manual how to move recordings to your computer and it isn't doing what I want.

  • How do I transfer Voice memos from iPhone to my iMac?

I have recordings made on my iPhone using Voce Memos, since updating to OS10.8 these no longer sync to my iMac when using iTunes.  The help files for iTunes bear no relation to the screens that iTunes produces and there seems no direct way of transfering my files.  Any ideas?
    Mike Butler

iTunes should automatically sync voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPhone to your computer. This lets you listen to voice memos on your computer and provides a backup if you delete them from iPhone.
Voice memos are synced to the Voice Memos playlist. iTunes creates the playlist if it doesn’t exist. When you sync voice memos to iTunes, they remain in the Voice Memos application until you delete them. If you delete a voice memo on iPhone, it isn’t deleted from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from iTunes, it is deleted from iPhone the next time you sync with iTunes.

  • Transfer voice memos from iPhone 4 to PC?

I have recorded few voice memos using iPhone 4. They are available in my iPhone as AAC files. How can I transfer them to my PC?

Voice memos are synced to the computer through iTunes. From there you can do whatever you want to from there.

  • I cannot transfer voice memos from iPhone 4 into iTunes 11.1.5

I was able to transfer voice memos until the 2th of March 2014, but then I have three other memos I want to transfer into iTunes and I can't, I have tried everything... any sugestions???

    Hi,
The only way I found with my version of iTunes (11.1.1.11) is the following:
    - select your device (mine was an iPod Nano 6G)
    - in the options, select the activation of the device as an hard disk
    - on your computer, navigate to the Apple device and select the folder "Recordings"
When here, you get the files, you can copy and paste or drag and drop where you want.

  • Copy voice memos from iPhone to computer

I have fairly large voice memos that I can NOT email, so I am wondering how I can copy the voice memos from my iphone to my computer.
I have tried connecting my iphone directly to my iMac but can't figure out how to copy the file over.
    Thanks.
    Brad

You would need to use 3rd party software such as PhoneView to do this.
Edit: I assume you've already tried unsuccessfully to sync them with iTunes by choosing to do so on the Music tab of your sync settings.

  • Syncing voice memos from iPhone to computer

I've had my iPhone 3GS for a pretty decent amount of time. My computer recently crashed, and I didn't have it backed up, so I'm starting from scratch. I have several class lectures recorded on my phone and I'd like to sync them to my computer. I've found the 'sync voice memos' option, but I'm confused; if I allow it to sync, does that mean it will erase all of the voice memos from my phone and sync it with the computer(which doesn't have any voice memos... starting from scratch, remember?)? Or does that imply that it will import the voice memos from my phone to my laptop?

It will copy the voice memos from the iPhone to the computer. Voice memo sync is one way only; phone to computer. Deleting them on the computer does not affect those on the phone.

  • How can i transfer voice memos from iphone 3g to a laptop tha is not a mac???

hi, i recorded preachings in our church and want to share it with friends, but i cant figure out how to. from iphone 3g to a pc "i.e not mac"

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2396
Transferring a recording to a computer
    Synchronize
If iPod is set to update songs automatically and you record voice memos, the voice memos are automatically downloaded to a playlist in iTunes when you connect iPod. Once downloaded, the voice memos are removed from the Voice Memos folder on your iPod. To play the voice memos that have been synchronized to your computer in iTunes, select the Voice Memos playlist on the left side of the iTunes window. To play the synchronized voice memos on the iPod, select the Voice Memos playlist in the Music menu, not the Voice Memos menu in the Extras menu.

I can get my voice memos from my iphone onto itunes on my Mac but when I sync my ipad, it doesn't sync.  So I can only listen on my iphone using the voice memos app, which is very frustrating, since you cannot pause it and restart or gets interrupted when you get a call or on my computer.  I would love to review some lectures I have taped on my ipad.  Any way of doing this

  • How to extract large voice memos from iphone

I need to extract a large (50 minutes) voice memo from an iPhone 4s using iOS 8.1.1 I'm using a MacBook Air 11-early 2014 with OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

Assuming you read the section of the link near the end about where to find them, the only other idea I have would be to try a 3rd party utility but there would be an expense. • Exporting voice memos from iphone doesn't retain their names

    Hi,
I'm using an iphone 4 on Vista running the latest itunes (newest update, the whole firmware, itunes etc just updated right before I decided to post this).
I'm trying to save voice memo files from my iphone to my computer, but although they save and play back okay, they have been assigned a bunch of numbers (taken from the recording date and time perhaps) instead of keeping the name I gave them on the phone itself. There are far too many of them to drag off one at a time and rename manually.
So how can I save them all in one go whilst retaining the names I gave them on the iphone?
I've previously managed this - when I initially got the phone and started saving memos I once dragged and dropped a load of them from my iphone through itunes and they did retain their original names, but after trying numerous times since I cannot see how, although it must be possible?
    Thanks!

You can transfer voice memos from iPhone to Mac by emailing:
Open the voice memo app and select the recording you want to transfer, then tap on the Share icon in the left corner under the Play button. Now you have the option to send it as a Mail.
Choose Mail then fill in the relevant details and hit send. This is fine for the occasional memo, but if you have several that you want to do at once - or have long recordings whose files sizes are not inbox friendly - then the best solution is to use iPhone Transfer for Mac.

  • Saving voice memos from iphone to mac

    Hi all,
I've read a couple of threads re synching voice memos from my iphone to my mac.  And i've followed the instructions (i.e. clicking the "include voice memos" under the synch music section in itunes).  Trouble is when the synch runs and i go into itunes library to find the voice memos i cant find them.  I've searched by typing in "voice memo" as well as manually searching through the entire library.  The voice memos are still safely on my iphone, but not in my itunes library.  Any clues?
