How to transfer windows 7 back up to hard drive

Ok so I have windows 7 insalled using bootcamp and i only set the partition to 100 Gb to play games on (MacbookPro late 2013 Nvidia 2 gb) so i decided that wasnt enough and that i will create a new partition that is 250gb. I then backed up all my files to a 500 gb harddrive. I then copied the back up to OSX mavericks. Then i formatted the harddrive to install windows 7 on again (this time 250Gb) and as i switch back to OSX and try to copy the back up from my internal ssd to my hard drive it says the file is too large to put on disk (When i already formatted it and the back up is 50 Gb) so is there a way to transfer the back up to on my Mac to the hard drive?
Cheers.

But you don't usually have good luck at all trying to use Windows on new hardware.
Do a clean install, time to start over.
And if you did you would use Windows 7 DVD anyway to restore system restore image that you made ahead of time - hopefully, the best way to get your settings though is with Windows Easy Transfer.
Apple has Migration Assistant for Windows - take a look at that,, too.

  • How to install Windows 7 on new hard drive?

I have changed the old hard drive (500 gb) with a new hard dirve (1 Tera), and now I have two problems: -
    1. How do I install Windows 7 on new hard drive?
    2. My laptop was pre-installed Windows 7 Pro, but all the DVD kit (Application & Drives Recivery Disc + Operating System Revocer), which was provided (by Lenovo) for the laptop is in the Windows 8 Pro. So how do I install Windows 7 Pro, in my laptop while all DVD kits are in Windows 8 Pro?
by the way this is my laptop spec (for reference) ; -
    * Note *
I plan to install Windows 7 Pro in my new hard drive using another Windows 7 DVD (Not DVD provided by Lenovo), but how do I get all the Leveno program which found within the 'Application & Drives Recivery' disc (such as ; - Lenovo System Health and Diagnostics, Lenovo Power Control,Lenovo's Fingerprint Reader) to install in that hard drive? (as I tell you before, all the DVD kit is in or only for Windows 8 Pro)
I hope somebody will help me answer my question,
    Thank You
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I got the solution;
Answer to question 1 ; using a backup & recovery software to clone my current OS, then transfer to my new hard drive.
Answer to question 2 ; download all the Drivers and software ( all the application that located on the DVD kit that I have) on Lenovo Official Website.
or other solution, send it to a computer service shop and let the experts ( the workers) install it for me ( the most simple and safe way).

  • How to transfer itunes library via external hard drive?

How do I transfer my entire itunes library to a new pc via an external hard drive? I want to also keep the library on my old pc. Because my library is about 30gb I thought that getting an external hard drive would be the easiest way to do this. Are there any other options?

Start by consolidating your library. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Files already in the iTunes Music Folder have no changes made to them: Consolidating your library - Windows
Then copy the iTunes Folder to your external drive. Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). You'll get more information including the Folder/File structure in this article: What are the iTunes library files?
Disconnect your external drive and connect it to your new computer, copy the iTunes folder to the new pc. When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the default location on the new computer. On a PC this is \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\ (or C:\Username\Music\ in Vista). You should also use the same version of iTunes on both computers.
Once you have copied everything over hold down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. Navigate to where you placed the copy of the library file and open it up: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file
If you have any iTunes purchases in your library don't forget that you'll need to authorise your new computer to play them. Also if you are disposing of the old one remember to deauthorise it so you don't use up one of your allowances: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

CPU:HP Compaq 6005 Pro Small Form Factor (refurb) from Walmart 2 yrs + ago.AMD Athlon II, Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (unsure just says home premium for refurb PC's on the sticker)8 GB/750 GB SATA HD Hard drive crashed and died. Had tech look at it and not worth recovery costs. Can't find a restore disc (made one, just can't find it) since it was pre-loaded, but do have refurb MS sticker with product key. I'm obviously going to replace the hard drive, but wanted to find out how/if I can get the owned refurb Windows OS on it, since all I have is the product key sticker and proof of ownership of the HP system? Is there a way I can request a recover disc from HP or MS for this? If so, how or where do I request this? Thanks in advance.

  • How to transfer NTFS files to HFS+ hard drive?

I have multiple large video files on NTFS formatted harddrive so read only.  I have time capsule backup, and two external hard
drives (1) older WD TB NTFS with 500 GB of video files almost all larger than 4 GB.  Have new Seagate 3 TB hard drive.  I want to have
both external hard drives formatted HFS+.  Set up Seagate with 1.5 TB HFS+ and 1.5 TB FAT 32 with idea to copy over all the
video from NTFS to the FAT 32, then copy them over to HFS+, downsize the 1.5 FAT 32 to zero, and then reformat the WD  to HFS+
and viola, all would be in HFS+ and life would be good.  Did not know about the 4 GB transfer file limit in FAT 32.  Have spent a great deal
of time reading about solutions but everything seems to be built around making NTFS read and write but I want to get everything into
HFS+.  I have looked at software solutions (Paragon) for example but it does not seem to be set up to a simply one-way transfer of files from
NTFS to HFS+.  I also explored idea of cutting up video files some of which are quite large due to original film but that is both very cumbersome
and also worries me about trying to pull everything back together after transfer.
System Macbook Pro 2011, 8GB---thanks in advance for any suggestions and sorry for such a long posting.
    Sandy

I didn't spend hours looking, but video pros on Adobe's forums can't really think of a use for the small index or .scn files. A .avi file is the combined video and audio. It will play on its own.
To test, copy any .avi file from the NTFS drive to an HFS+ drive and double click to play it. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work.

  • HT2090 how to transfer files from a portable hard drive to another

I tried to transfer some files from one portable hard drive to another but I cant seem to transfer anything.but hard drives are under the NTFS thingy. The brand of the hard drive is WD.pliz help...

Your HDDs are formatted for windows.  There is software available that will allow you to use them with your MBP.  It has received mixed reviews and you will have to use Google to find it.  Perhaps someone else will give you specific information on same.
The other option is to reformat the HDDs to be compatible with your MBP using Disk Utility, but that will erase the user data.
    Ciao.

  • How to transfer Photo Library to external hard drive?

How do I transfer IPhoto Library and/or albums onto External Hard Drive? I have been selecting photos and re-creating Albums as Folders. But I want to delete photos from my MacBook Air and want all the content and information transferred with the photos, which is not currently happening. I downloaded a free trial of a program that promises to do this transfer but cannot find it/use it. Help!

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • Transfer music back from external hard drive to iMac

I currently have an iMac and have an external hard drive connected to it that holds all my music, movies etc.  However, I am concerned that if the external hard drive fails then I will have lost my media.  As such, I would like to store everything directly on the imac and back it up to time machine.  It is a long time since I have set up my existing system and I am unsure how to get the media onto the imac.  Advice on this would be very welcome.  Thanks

I don't know what your layout is on the external drive. The "formal" hierarchy for iTunes is:
    /Home/Music/iTunes
    /Home/Music/imm Media
    /Home/Music/iTunes Playlists
You need to drag each of those folders to the corresponding locations on your startup volume. Then open iTunes while depressing the OPTION key in order to tell iTunes the change in location.

how to transfer my mac  backup to ecternal drive

Good question.  Your backups should be on a different disk than your live data.  If that one disk/SSD should crash then you will lose all your data, including the backup.  So put your backups on external drives.
This page has specific instructions on setting up an external drive as a Time Machine backup.  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1427

  • I recently had to install a new hard drive in my computer. This caused me to have to reload all content back to my iTunes and iPod. I have many apps on my iPod and i don't know how to transfer those back to my iTunes. Can anyone help?

I recently had to install a new hard drive in my computer. This caused me to have to reload all content back to my iTunes and iPod. I have many apps on my iPod and i don't know how to transfer those back to my iTunes. Can anyone help?

Right clicking on your ipod in the device list an d choosing "transfer purchases" will copy apps and bought media from iTunes to your computer. Due to the new iTunes library on your new HD, iTunes will erase your ipod during the first sync. To save your data to the computer take a look at this article about saving data from your device to a computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
Basically it's backing up manually, transferring her purchases (apps and bought music), letting iTunes erase the ipod due to the new iTunes library, and restoring from the manual backup again, to get all the data and settings back.
Make sure your new computer account is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • How do you transfer info from an external hard drive from a PC to a Mac

How do you transfer info from a external hard drive from a pc to a imac?

Expanding on what Niel said, a Mac can mount and read just about any hard drive from a Windows system. It can't write to an NTFS-formatted drive without third-party drivers, but it can read them. So as Niel indicated, you should be able to just connect the drive to your Mac and drag-copy over whatever you want. If you want to save things from the Mac to that drive, then it will need to be formatted either as FAT32 or exFAT, or if it's NFTS you'll again need drivers.
    Regards.
