How to transform a shape?

Hello:
Let's say I draw a rectangle and I want to change its shape. How do I go about doing that?
I found some information in the faq's but it didn't fully help me.
I have selected the Direct Selection tool and clicked on the outlines of the shape (the path?) and this brings up 4 squares on each corner (handles?) and when I click and drag I am able to pull the line/path out, up, down etc.
However, I would like to be able to move the lines in a curve. I am looking to bring up the line with the round handles ~ like when the Pen tool is used.
I did it once by mistake but now I can't figure out what I did. I thought maybe that I had used Ctrl + click on the shape or path but that doesn't seem to be it.
I also tried going to the Pen tool to manipulate the path the way I want but that just either added or took away a handle ~ which is okay and great and all but not for what I am trying to accomplish.
So, if you could kindly remind me of how I go about bringing up that line    o---------------little square---------------o on a shape I would be happy to build you a monument in Times Square and then to travel there weekly to worship at your feet ; )
Thank you so very much!!
Be well and take care,
Kara

Hold down on the pen tool icon in the tool,bar and you will see a convert point tool. This tool is use to create curves from the corner points. Just drag on the selected point and it will create new handles. You can repeat this process as many times as you wish if needed. Clicking once on a point will make it a corner point again.
Short cut time on windows computer -  you can hit the p key to select the pen tool. While you have the pen tool selected, you can use the modifier keys.
shift key - removes points
ctrl key - direct selection tool
alt key - convert points tool

  • How are transforms in the transform panel applied?

    I am trying to understand when/how the transforms made in the transform panel are applied to display objects so that I can manipulate them using action script. To be clear, I understand that I can use the display object properties such as rotation to transform a display object, and I understand that I can also use a matrix transformation. Unfortunatley, this doesn't always seem to have the same behavior when nesting as direct transformations using the panel. So I would like to find a way to manipulate whatever properties the transform panel is changing.
    Maybe this isn't clear, so here's an example.
    On a new stage, I place a rectangle and use the transform panel to rotate it 39 degrees. Then I assign this shape to a variable and use the debug panel to inspect the member properties of the shape. As far as I can tell, this rotation value is not contained within any of the transformation parameters. Is it pre-applied?
    If I use the "export as XML" option, the rotation value is listed in the "Source" tag, as below:
    <Motion duration="1" xmlns="fl.motion.*" xmlns:geom="flash.geom.*" xmlns:filters="flash.filters.*">
        <source>
            <Source frameRate="24" x="265" y="184.5" scaleX="1" scaleY="1" rotation="39" elementType="drawing object">
                <dimensions>
                    <geom:Rectangle left="111.35" top="35.1" width="307.25" height="298.85"/>
                </dimensions>
                <transformationPoint>
                    <geom:Point x="0.5000813669650123" y="0.5099548268362054"/>
                </transformationPoint>
            </Source>
        </source>
        <Keyframe index="0"/>
    </Motion>
    So this is being stored as a value somewhere. Any ideas?
    Thanks - Andrew

    if you're mixing actionscript with something drawn in the ide, you must be converting your drawing into an object (in order to reference it with actionscipt).   whatever you convert to an object will assume mostly default properties (no matter what you see on-stage).  the x and y properties are an exception.

  • Pixel perfect transformable vector shapes that keep their borders while scaling..?

    What is the best approach to creating a vector rectangle that could have a gradient fill and a solid border of, say, 3 pixels and this shape could be animated (seperately for W and H) while no anti-aliasing or warping of the border would occur?
    Is it best to start with a AI shape or a native AE shape?
    I have noticed that both AE and AI can have faded borders, there are semi transparent pixels on the edge of the border so it is not a clean 3 pixel solid. I have also noticed that its difficult to create an extact width and height even while taking the border into account.
    I can't calculate it to the pixel like I would in CSS. So is there any working method to create extact pixels for AE?
    Thanks

    As I re-read your qustion I thought you might be asking how to scale a shape layer with a stroke but keep the stroke the same size visually so that a shape layer with a stroke of 10 pixels would still have a stroke of ten pixels when scaled to 200%. If that is what you want then add this expression to the stroke with and scale the shape layer with the transform>scale property.
    sf = transform.scale[0] / 100;
    sv = value;
    sv / sf

  • How do I use shapes I create in Adobe Shape?

    All the shapes you create with Adobe Shape are stored in a CC Library.  This means you can access them in other desktop, mobile, and web apps.  Detailed instructions below.
    How to access your shapes in Creative Cloud
    Desktop: In order for this to work, you must have the most recent version of Illustrator and Photoshop.
    Open Adobe Illustrator on your desktop.
    Open the Libraries panel (Windows > Libraries)
    Your shapes should be present in your Libraries.  If you don’t see them there, select the libraries drop down to see if you saved your shapes in a different library.
    Now, you can drag the shape onto your canvas.
    At this point,  you can continue working with your shape, by adding editing.  Or, you can simply save the file.  Of course, after you save it to your desktop, you can email, post online, etc.
    Mobile apps:
    Open Adobe Illustrator Draw and open a drawing.
    Tap the Shapes icon to open the Shapes menu.
    Tap a library name to view the shapes in the Creative Cloud Library. Tap Change Library to select another library.
    Select your shape by tapping on it.
    Active Slide or Tocuh Slide. You can use Adobe Slide or Touch Slide to place the shape on the canvas. Access Touch Slide by tapping on the circular icon at the top of the menu bar.
    Place the shape.  Once you have activated Touch Slide, you will see a light rendition of your shape on the canvas.  Simply double tap on the shape outline to stamp the shape in place.
    Web:
    Navigate to https://assets.adobe.com/
    Select the Libraries menu item (left menu on the page)
    Select the desired library (if this is your first time using Libraries, you will only have one).
    This page provide a preview only.

  • How can i use shape tweening and motion tweenin together on a movie clip?(where is looping whitch was in propertise panel in CS5?)

    how can show animation (shape and motion tween) witch i was created in Scens1-MovieClip in time line?
    there was an option (looping) in CS5 but how can i do it in CC and CS6?

    shape tweening can only be applied to raw drawn shapes, no movieclips.  IF you wanted to do a shape tween to a movieclip it would have to be done within the timeline in the movieclip.

  • How to transform hotkey ctrl+L to F9

    My app is oracle form 10g.
    I wonder how to transform hotkey ctrl+L to F9 because in my company everyone is used to press F9 to query .
    Would someone tell me?
    Thank you.

    I don't understand exactly what you want to do.
    Refer to fmrweb.res found in the \forms directory. This is the file used to configure key mapping. This is a text file, so it can be opened in most text editors. The top portion of the file provides an explaination as to how each value works.

  • [ETL]How to transform a Source model into an arbitrary number of target models ?

    Hi all,
    I need to know how to transform a source model into an arbitrary number of target models which conforms to different target metamodels using ETL ? Is there any examples that can help me ?
    Thank you
    Mana

    Hi Antonio,
    Actully I mean the number of metamodels are known.For example, assume that there are two known metamodels in the target side, the first one is the target metamodel, and the second one is the trace metamodel .
    I would like to see an example of ETL transformation that run on a source model and generate the target model and the trace model as well. This statement is part of the chapter 5 of the ebook which says "it is often essential to be able to access/update additional models during a transformation (such as trace or configuration models). Building on the facilities provided by EMC and EOL, ETL enables specification of transformations that can transform an arbitrary number of source models into an arbitrary number of target models."
    could you please explain this more for me or provide me with an example.
    Thank you
    Mana

  • How to use decide shape in orchestration

    hi all,
    please guide me to how to use decide shape in orchestration , me requirement is when i got output with records then only i need to process to output folder, otherwise i need to send as a exception.
    Thanks
    Chinna

    Hi Chinna,
    To check the existence of records and only process if records exist. You can use the following condition in the Decide shape, which checks for the count of records to be greater than zero. If this statement
    return true than process the outbound message as show in the below Orchestration image.
    System.Convert.ToInt32(xpath(InputMsg, "count(XpathToRecord)")) != 0
    Usage of XPath in decide shape

  • How to hide previous shape for build action?

    I have a white shape that appears on click.  I need to display another wider shape with less transparency on the 2nd click.  But the first shape needs to hide because of transparency in the 2nd shape.
    I'm not sure how to affect a shape lower down in the build order.  From what I understand, only one build action can be applied per option.  Is there some way to accomplish this type of workflow?

    Looks like this can be done as a build out.

  • How to make smart shape buttons turn colors after clicking on them?

    How to make smart shape buttons turn colors after clicking on them?  I am using buttons as links to learning paths and would like users to know which buttons they have allready clicked on when returning to main menu.

    This is reply I got from Adobe support.  I will try and let you all know what works best:
    Here is the workflow which you can follow to achieve this functionality.
    Puspendra: You can choose image button and then choose from the available image buttons, or click on the folder icon when you select the image button and choose from the Gallery of Captivate 6.
    Puspendra: Few image buttons change color on hover or onclicked, these effects are predefined in them.
    Puspendra: Or you can edit that button on which you are working, from properties Panel.
    Puspendra: The Post and Cancel button on this thread seems like a transparent button in Captivate with different fill and stroke color, and transparency is also less, and with corner radius of 0.
    Puspendra: You will find these all optionns, when you will click on that button and then click on the properties panel.

    Hi,
    If you need more shapes than a particular Microsoft Office Visio template provides, you have a couple of options. You can either search Visio and the Web for shapes that Microsoft has developed, or you can search the Web for shapes that were developed by

  • How to transform pc files to hfs filesystem?

    Hi,
    I have files created on Windows OS platform.  Attempted to
    chown root:wheel myFileDirectory
    though it did not produce error, it does not change owner and group.  John D. kindly advised me that it's because of different file system, Mac uses HFS (I didn't know since I'm new to Mac).  So, now the question is how I transform files created in Windows environment into HFS?
    Thanks.

    Under Devices,
    I have Macintosh HD and iDisk.  So, I would guess the HD is the boot volume.   I think I've dragged some files from flash dirve (created in Windows OS env) to certain Folder on this HD, and this Folder was a folder created by the previous version of my software and it was / is working fine (local web app).
    Hmm, what could result the above problem?  Still file system issue?  What do I do now?
    Many thanks.

  • Trying to figure out how to spin a shape like a top...

    Folks,
    I'm trying to figure out how to spin a shape like a top on one axis starting fast and slowing to a stop.
    It would be nice if the stop was eased in and not sudden.
    I can make the shape spin, but I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how to change the speed of the rotation over time.
    I must be trying to control it in the wrong spot because the add keyframe is not enabled.... anyway, I'm obviously not doing it the right way.
    Suggestions please!
    Thanks in advance.
    Tony

    Mark,
    I was, as usual, over thinking the solution. I thought I had to do something else... which I'm not going to try to describe but it involved linking the rotation of my shape to the orbit of Jupiter...
    Your method is much simpler.
    It took a while to figure out how to draw the curve to get what I was hoping for but it worked.
    Very cool!
    Thanks!
    Tony
